1 out of 5 eggsMini Airwolf helicopter

Pros: Good price

Cons: Doesn't have a USB charger cord, won't trim out to fly straight. Won't charge.

Other Thoughts: I own the blue metal version of this product. It flies great. I bought this because I thought it was the same thing with a different body. This one won't fly forward, and won't trim out to stop spinning, and doesn't have a USB charging cord, and won't charge with the wire in the transmitter.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very Cheap. On sale at $16.99.
Durable. Has withstood the gentle touch of a 1 and 3 year old.
Crashed it a bunch of times sometimes from great height and the thing just keeps on going.

Cons: Hard to control at first. I suspect the Gyro models help it not to spin in circles.
Flight time is low but as stated and similar to other models.
Would prefer radio control and not infra red control. Cannot fly it outside as it is too bright. Sometimes when you lose line of sight contact the thing will power up at whatever it was set at when the contact was lost and this includes even if it is crashed on the ground which is not good for the gears. However this is common to all infrared models. Basically it is controlled the same way your remote controls your TV.

Other Thoughts: Me and my boys have had hours of great fun with this thing and it was only $16.99. Their eyes light up whenever I ask them if they want to fly Daddy's helicopter. I do the flying of course. Takes a coupe of days to fully figure it out. As others have stated it does do a lot of spinning. I recommend before you do any flying to get it up in the air hover and balance it while hovering at a fixed altitude. Then you know it will turn slightly one way descending and the other ascending. Maybe you may want to look for a model with the Gyro. Probably learning to fly it without a Gyro gives you more skill.

Still this flies all around the house and is fun.

3 out of 5 eggscould be better

Pros: Fun once you get the hang of it. Pretty durable-- all 4 blades have numerous nicks from hitting stuff. It flies just fine despite that.

Cons: It is difficult to get it to stop spinning. As another reviewer mentioned, it spins at different rates depending on ascent/descent or how much vertical thrust is applied. I set the spin knob to cancel at hovering about 5' so I can then thrust forward. Once moving forward, you get much better control due to reduced spinning.

The base unit requires a tiny phillips screwdriver to remove/attach the battery cover. A thumb screw or other closing mechanism would be far superior as battery replacement is common.

Other Thoughts: Crashes are inevitable for various reasons, not the least of which are air currents you didn't even know were there. I found it to be quite a trooper in that no crash has yet hurt its ability to fly. The rear rotor only spins when you apply forward/reverse thrust. (righthand joystick up/down)

I'm not crazy about the charging system. You must use the base unit which must use batteries (there's no DC port). You can get several flights from one set of batteries, but I would rather use USB charging or plug in one of my DC adapters and have just a couple batteries dedicated to communication only.

Charging time is fairly quick-- the 20-30 estimates are accurate, though 30 is generally longer than needed.

3 out of 5 eggsMini RC Helicopter

Pros: Compact and fun to fly. With a little practice, it becomes very maneuverable. 5-6 minutes of flight time. Amusing fun for a nominal price.

Cons: It is not very durable and crashes while learning to handle it are inevitable. Find a room with clear open space and if it does strike a wall or other object, quickly cut the power to avoid damage.

Other Thoughts: Even with the cons, these little helis are a ball to fly. You might want to buy a couple just in case one takes a bad crash:)

2 out of 5 eggsCute

Pros: It looks neat. It works, somewhat.

Cons: Not really built for flight. S107 is far superior in terms of control.

Other Thoughts: Built for looks. Less control=less fun.

1 out of 5 eggsGood for one flight

Pros: I bought 2. For the one flight they lasted for they were fun. Controls were easy to use and my 9 year old made it hover for a few minutes.

Cons: After the first usage the battery did not hold enough charge to get off the ground for both of them. After a few moments the second one would not start the motor. It attempts to turn but doesnt make it for a single revolution.

Other Thoughts: If these had a stronger battery they would be fun.

1 out of 5 eggsSpins and spins

Pros: Newegg processed the order right away and Toy World shipped the product fast.
The helicopter looks nice and with good details.
Most of the components can be purchased individually and can be replaced easily after the inevitable rough landings and crashes that it will have to endure.

Cons: Basically flying this helicopter is a bit challenging, and that it is good when learning to fly. However, when most of the flying time is spent correcting the spinning of the helicopter the fun and the challenge fade away quickly. While climbing it spins in one direction and while descending it spins in another. Using the trim control (vernier knob) does very little to compensate for the continuous spinning.
At first I thought it could be my lacking flying skills, and without saying anything about it, I gave the controls to a friend who has been operating remote controlled helicopters for few years now, and he also found that controlling the spinning is next to impossible. Maybe I got a bad unit, I don't know. I do know that other helicopters from the same manufacturer fly much better than the S018. Unfortunately, this helicopter is "spinning" back to the seller for a refund.

Other Thoughts: One more thing, the manual should be properly translated into English if the product is going to be sold in the United States. For instance, "In if the flight does not have the impetus to change the operating lever, but the helicopter still in airborne spun, by now you might adjust in your hand on remote control's vernier adjustment knob, balanced does not spin until the helicopter."

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Garbage from China

Pros: There are none

Cons: Flies up and spins around erratically. It is really hard to get any sense of control even after getting it to stop spinning.

Other Thoughts: This is definitely not Airwolf. Poorly made rip off.
