4 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Great flight. Responsive. Fast. Smooth.

Cons: Short battery life. Radio is a toy. Camera is garbage.

Other Thoughts: I love this thing. I fly the stuffing out of it. Don't take it outside with wind, it will be gone. Inside in a warehouse, this is a hoot. Love it. I will buy another!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Stable Little Drone

Pros: Pretty stable. All the controls work well. Has trim adjustments to keep you from fighting left/right forward/backward bias. Kids live it.

Cons: Doesn't have a lot of run time but in line with published time. For the money, run time is in line with expectation. Just don't think you'll be flying for 30 minutes and you won't be disappointed

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried the camera yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Fun

Pros: Easy to use and learn, and can take a beating.

Cons: Video and photos are just ok, but that is understandable.
Replacement parts (which will likely be necessary) are not always easy to find, and suffer from the problem of too many resellers.

Other Thoughts: I have had my quadcopter for a couple of weeks, and absolutely loved it. Great price point, a lot of fun, and surprisingly sturdy.

However, buying from the marketplace may have been a mistake. I thought I could save a few bucks over the price at the big A, but I have now come to regret that decision. After only two weeks one of the motors has died (no physical damage, and no significant crashes), and I thought "Hey, I can just contact the seller and ask for some assistance. I'm a technical guy, and would have no problem replacing the motor myself if it would make things easier for them."

Unfortunately they only provide RMA services for one week from purchase, and they can't supply any parts. So I guess I have to buy replacement parts from somewhere else, and will never buy anything else from Propel Direct on the NewEgg marketplace.

3 out of 5 eggsGood to get your toes wet

Pros: Works right out of the box with minor construction, comes with a screw driver, survives multiple crashes, two modes for novice/expert, reasonable battery life (5-8 minutes), green/orange lights to indicate orientation

Cons: Terrible camera, records on a compression that can't be copied or read by VLC or smart phones

Other Thoughts: The range on this quadcopter is about 20-30 meters with low interference (a park or beach), if you get out of range, the last command issued from the controller be repeated until it crashes, or goes completely out of range where it shuts off, nifty front flip button to impress onlookers

If you are purchasing this quadcopter as a beginner, don't bother using the camera until after you've got the grasp of basic flight control. Then when you do start bothering with the camera, remember that it sucks. Terribly. The SD card it comes with has the slower possible transfer rate, don't bother using it either. In fact, just unplug and unscrew the camera from your quadcopter so you can get extra flight time.

2 out of 5 eggsA mediocre toy

Pros: It was cheap on sale.

Cons: Unstable, almost impossible to trim even indoors, as it keeps drifting in one direction, then you move the stick to the other direction and center it, land it, lift it again, now it starts drifting in that direction. If you want something that you can lift and it will hover stably like a parrot drone, this is not it.

Terrible camera. Although the resolution says HD, the noise level and the compression artifacts are so bad, the images and videos are virtually unusable.

Other Thoughts: If you want a cheap toy that flies, this may fulfill your need. If you are thinking about this as your first entry-level quadcopter for taking pictures and videos, do not waste your money with this.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Beginner QuadCopter

Pros: You can't do much better when choosing your first QC. Checkout videos on

Cons: The camera mount needs some help. For most, it is angled down too much, and vibration at the front attaching point causes 'jello' in the video frames. There are fixes suggested on-line. Once tamed, the camera produces very decent photos and video. I used double sticky foam tape and latex caulk to dampen vibrations.

Other Thoughts: This QC will carry a #16 keychain camera with a 120 deg lens if you want better video and longer flight times (camera is self-powered). a Mobius is too heavy for this one. To avoid fly-aways, always fly into the breeze, so it won't be blown further away if you loose orientation, and don't let it get too high Thermals will carry it up with ease. Use high-rate when outdoors at altitude.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Quad

Pros: This thing flies very well and is super stable. You can switch it to a more extreme mode and fly like crazy if you can keep control. Love the flips and the idea of having a camera but.....

Cons: Camera sucks!!! The quality of the videos and pictures are horrible. This thing would get FIVE eggs with out a doubt if the camera was better.

Other Thoughts: Designing a better camera or maybe even a camera upgrade we could order online???? If you have that already please someone send me a link. Thanks

3 out of 5 eggsSlow Boat from China

Pros: This is a very nice Drone.
It is very durable, and seems to communicate well with the controller.
It is hard to imagine how they can make any money selling this for so low of a price/vs quality

The shipping is the reason I give it the low score, but the product is great.

Cons: Larger batteries are hard to get in and out (the blue ones). The factory ones fit well.

Manual does not show all features, and programing.

Other Thoughts: Great Value, best in price class.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: X5C-1 is the best hobby quadcopter out there!

Cons: Only complaint is the 7 to 8 minute flying time. We want more, we want more...

Other Thoughts: Definitely need a second battery. Increase the price and include a second one. Bought a couple more now that we have been flying the heck out of them.
