It makes them more resilient to impacts. Cons: The charge time is 4 hours. It does not have an all metal construction for the frame, but I haven't broken anything yet. As with all helicopters of this size and type, a slight wind makes it drift quite a bit. That comes with the territory though. Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a great helicopter! I don't have any first hand flight experience with it though. Cons: Apparently it's very easy to break the main rotor. He only got a little bit of flight time before hitting something and breaking the main rotor. Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if there are rotors or other parts for sale cheaply anywhere for this helicopter, but if there isn't then it would be a help instead of buying a whole other helicopter. The controls are very involved, and allow for a lot of fun. Seems to be sturdy on landing, and rotor blades are firm, but soft that they don't break on a crash. LED lights are pretty cool, and allows you to keep track of it at night over 25 feet alt. On special for $40 was a steal. Ready to go out of the box after charging. Cons: Lots of adjustment to make for a good flight (on the remote control, copter is ready to go out of the box). Must read the manual 5 times to figure out how everything works. 10-12 mins flight for 4 hours of charging (pretty standard for electric motor to keep power/weight ratio). Cannot over charge (gets very hot after 4 hours of charging). Manual is a testament to poor interpretation from chinese. Other Thoughts: 2nd chopper for me, but first one over 5 inches long. Lots of fun, and really can fly high. Will take many flights at first to get it set how you're comfortable with flying it, but it will be worth getting all the adjustments right. Make sure you have a large area to fly it. Controls are very involved but very easy to use. Def for age 13+ or with experience.
