Kymera Magic Remote Control Wand

Imagine walking into the room with your children and their Muggle friends watching TV, whipping out a magic wand from under your jacket and changing the channel in a flash. Why not add a magic spell into the equation to really impress them! An ideal Birthday, housewarming or Christmas gift for any Harry Potter fan, the Wand Remote Control will have friends and family spellbound as you zap to Eastenders with a flick of the wrist. 1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the effort

Pros: Cute idea, might be impressive to children

Cons: Too long to learn, movements have to be too precise and it will not control multiple pieces of equipment such as AV, TV and Satellite receiver

Other Thoughts: This needs some sort of wirelss connection so hou canprogram it with a computer rather than having to sit around waving a wand and counting all kinds of pulses. Spend your money on a universal remote and you will be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Item

Pros: 1. Works with my magnavox blu-ray player, Sony LED TV, Insignia TV, and my old Tube TV

2. You set each wand function separately. This allows you to teach the wand to operate multiple devices with the 1 remote.

3. Controls were simple to learn

4. Bought this item for my Harry Potter loving girlfriend and she is still talking about it a month later

Cons: 1. It can take up to 30 minutes to fully program the wand

2. One of the controls is to rotate the wand which is extremely touchy. You will often accidentally trigger this control while trying to operate the other functions. Setting this control to volume lessens the annoyance because you will only raise the volume 1 or 2 clicks accidentally.

Other Thoughts: While it can take a while to setup the wand initially, the novelty of using the wand to control your TV is worth the effort. The wand is easy to operate and the only problem I have had with the wand triggering a control when I don't want it to is the rotate function which isn't a big deal if you set it to volume or something that doesn't really matter if it is changes very slightly. In the same regard I have never had the remote not register a control I was telling to use.

When setting up the remote you should practice with it for 10 minutes or so to get used to the functions. Trying to setup the remote without practice caused me to accidentally perform the wrong action on occasion. 10 minutes of practice should be sufficient to setup the remote without any hassles.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Unique gift, seamingly good quality.

Cons: Price for a novelty item. This is a simple remote control. We paused over the price point. Ended up splitting th cost with friends for a BD gift.

Other Thoughts: Bought as a gift. I do not know how easy it was to program or how well it worked.

3 out of 5 eggsNice novelty gift.

Pros: Easy to "teach" the control codes to the wand.
Due to how it learns control codes, it supports a wide variety of devices (had it programmed with the most common controls for my TV, BluRay and sound system).
Fun to use (at first).
Nice conversation piece.

Cons: Quickly becomes an annoyance to use.
Sometimes trying to use one motion, such as the overhead swing, results in the wand mistaking it for a tap and therefore performing the wrong action.

Not assigning an action to commonly "mis-cast" motions is not an option, as the wand will vibrate a number of times depending on that motion, and you're unable to "cast" again until it's done vibrating. For example, a tap on the top of the wand was 7 or 8 vibrations, so every time the overhead swing was misinterpreted as a tap, we had to either wait for it to stop vibrating, or teach it some useless remote code that wouldn't interfere with the devices in front of us.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my fiancé since she loves Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and all things fantasy.

It's a nice cool-thing-to-have gift.
It's not so much a useful-thing-to-have gift.

4 out of 5 eggsUnicorn Hair is the secret!

Pros: Wonderfully versatile, thought I still haven't gotten the big swoosh to work. Sensitive feedback of the unicorn hair leaves kids in awe. I run a small family friendly inn. the Plastic nature means I have to keep it locked up from the mudbloods, some of whom try to impress me with their Universal Studio bought wands. A sample incantation guide would be good for us lacking on imagination. Electronicus Onicus works well enough...but channelus uppicus? Please...

Cons: Something with a unicorn hair core should be encased in titatium or something other than plastic.

Other Thoughts: Have been thinking about acquiring a Nimbus 2000.
