Best sleeve hands down
This review is from: CADET Slipcase
Pros: This has the best padding for any laptop sleeve that I've ever seen in person or online. It is basically a slimmed briefcase or larger/better laptop sleeve. Perfect for what I need it for and that is carrying my laptop in my backpack with books, water bottles, and binders for school. Four different 15.6" screen laptops fit in here nicely with room to spare. Roughly an 1" or 3/4" of wiggle room. Not sure it could fit a 17" laptop but might. It can stretch in thickness though so it might. The zippers are really nice, high quality no threads that I can see. Main compartment zipper has two zipping handle things, not one. Both zippers have a “water-resistant” cover shield on them, not sure how to describe but really nice, check out the pictures. The D-rings are really nice too and don't stick out or get in the way. The d-rings and handles are very sturdy and nicely attached. They seem to be integrated into the design, rather than onto most things where it's just stitched on the outside. The padding on the edge is like a U. It covers all the corners and sides, ends at the D-rings, does not go to the main zipper portion. The main zipper has two smaller and thinner pads on the sides of the zipper to help protect more rather than just being a zipper which is a very nice touch. The main faces of the case have a nice good cushion feel to them and I would say about 1/8” thick which is plenty enough and better than any sleeve, ever. The U edge padding is probably in between 1/8" and 1/16", seems to change depending on where you feel, it is also a half circle shape which means more cushion and protection. And the padding along the main zipper is around 1/16". Basically this case is the only sleeve like briefcase that has actual good padding, and is completely padded and protective. The outer nylon is really nice and I think it will not only hold up very well, but will stay clean too. Haven’t had any issues with this case yet. Also the inner material in all of the compartments is smooth, thin, and nylon-like just like the inside of my jansport backpack, maybe others brands but it’s still nice and durable. This case should hold up for years at least especially if you don't abuse it.
Cons: The dimensions are a bit off I think. I measured it and it is roughly 16.5 x 11 x 1.25 inches. Although it looks like it could stretch up to 2". I like it being slimmer instead so it fits in my backpack much better but that might bug other people. Front pocket with red zipper isn't padded, this pocket is similar to a typical laptop sleeve as it is a smooth inner ”backpack” material and then nylon outer material, no real protection as it’s advertised as a tablet sleeve which personally I wouldn’t put a tablet in there unless it had its own protective case then it’d be fine. The other thing I’m not happy about, which newegg doesn’t have the backside pictures, is that there is a luggage stretchy nylon band which hasn’t been used but is already stretching and becoming looser. Nothing bad or ridiculous but not sure how it will hold up. There is also a compartment which is in between the luggage strap and the main laptop compartment which is just an opening with a tiny strip of Velcro. Kind of a pointless compartment in my opinion as it has a little Velcro strap, although it holds well, but is technically always a little bit open and not even big enough to hold an 8x11 piece of paper and still close, it will cover the paper but will be an open flap with an inch or two of openness. Unless you put a folder in there and don’t need to have it closed it’ll be fine but is useless regardless. It’d probably be better to use the main compartment for papers or something since it’s so roomy in there.
Other Thoughts: Overall this case is the best period. So worth the price, almost a steal at that price literally. It is just a bit thicker than a regular sleeve, but almost as protective as a briefcase. It is almost as light as a sleeve, but has two other compartments and a good amount of extra wiggle room like a briefcase. Then with the overall quality and stitching and everything else it beats everything out there for this price range and function wise.
