5 out of 5 eggsNicely built lens

Pros: Nice walk around lens to have on 80 percent of the time. Must have focal length. Went on a trip and severed me well not changing lenses all the time. I was hesitant to order from Newegg but glad I did. I even qualified for the available rebate at the time of purchase through Tamron. Couple stores would not price match with Newegg.

Cons: When I received the lens, I quickly mounted it to my nikon. The lens was a bit heavy. Having the 70-200 Tamron version, I thought it was going to be a lot lighter. Im not a big fan of the VC, but it did save me on a couple pictures I took in low light.

Other Thoughts: The diameter should have been made to match the 70-200. You will have to get new filters if you own any. The price for this item was lower on Newegg than any retail stores in my area (bay area), I called a couple stores to see if they would price match, they did not. Im glad I did. The model was listed was a little different than the ones listed on other well known sites. I did take the risk of the item being different, however, when I got the item. It was identical as the items at my local retailers. I would order my lenses from Newegg any time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Image quality is superb. Dare I say a bit better than my old 24-70 2.8 Nikon. VC works great I usually get keepers down to 1/10th second hand held. distortion and CA clean up very easily with lightroom profile. Even wide open on my D800 corner to corner sharpness is excellent wide open and superb stopped down.

Cons: Auto focus isn't as fast as Nikon 24-70 (fastest focusing lens I have owned) but still very fast and virtually silent. Autofocus can hunt a bit in very low light (the Nikon seems to focus in almost total darkness).

82mm front element means all of your 77s won't fit.

Still pricey even if it's cheaper than the competition, Probably won't hold it's value like Nikon glass would.
