2 out of 5 eggsTypical cheap, small refractor telescope

Pros: A barely adequate telescope for a budding astronomer

Cons: Poorly made mount, over-blown magnification ability, poor quality eye pieces.

Other Thoughts: This is a classic 60mm refractory telescope; that is, the larger lens at the front of the telescope is 60 millimeters, or about 2.4", in diameter. The diameter of this lens, in accordance with certain optical physics laws, determines the limits of its performance. For one thing, the maximum usable magnification for any telescope this size is about 100X. Any more would be like using a powerful magnifier on a newspaper photograph: beyond a certain magnification, you don't really see any more detail.
This being said, a telescope like this can show you such things as the mountains on the moon, color bands and the satellites of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and some of the brighter of the "deep-sky" objects (the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda galaxy, and such.) As long as its limitations are recognized, it can be an economical way to spark a youngster's interest in astronomy.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Decent Telescope

Pros: Very light but well constructed, fairly easy to assemble but lacked the manual. Has a very high zoom factor. Came with a few different lens. Enjoyable for most ages.

Cons: Didn't come with the correct instructions to put it together. The instructions that came with it were for other models and didn't have any of the names of the component in English or any of the instructions. Mainly would have liked a proper instruction/ component manual.

Other Thoughts: Over all this is a good telescope.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: I got this as a gift for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it now that she has figured out how to use it. Fortunately, there is LOTS of information online that is helpful in learning how to use this type of telescope. She has been able to see high detail when looking at the mountains visible out our backdoor. Like individual trees and wildlife near the treeline. Very nice telescope especially for the price. I would choose this brand again.

Easy to assemble
Several types of lenses
Tripod included
Good price

Cons: Had to research how to use this telescope due to lack of information in the manual. Not that big of a deal, but basic instructions would have been nice. Otherwise, no complaints. It is very lightweight. Good for transporting but probably not useful as any type of bludgeon.

Limited documentation
Pictures only in manual
Lightweight construction may not be sturdy over time

Other Thoughts: Overall, seems like a good entry level telescope. When Montana winter skies get clear, I am sure it will be much more fun to use.
