3 out of 5 eggsUncomfortable Strap

Pros: Wanted a heart rate monitor and this watch fit the bill

Cons: Strap digs into my wrist, leaving indentations as the metal of the buckle sticks down below the plastic strap where they meet, so the pressure on the wearer's wrist is focused there. Too tight, or worn too long, it'll bleed. Watch is also a bit overly bulky and should have been made thinner. Lots of empty space between the glass surface and the LCD screen below.

1 out of 5 eggsEZ Pro - Junk

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Junk - stopped working after a few weeks, not worth sending back. I learned my lesson - I would never buy another Bowflex product

Other Thoughts: Only have my self to blame -if something seems too good to be true

1 out of 5 eggsDo not waste the time or money

Pros: Maybe price? But see Cons below.

Cons: Heart rate monitors works if you wet your points of contact, apply the right pressure, and are lucky. Most of the time it will leave you standing there waiting for a number that never comes. Sometimes it will give you a number in a few seconds that is off. If you want to check your Heart rate during or immediately after exercise, forget it, by the time you can cajole a reading out of it you will have been stationary for several minutes. On top of the heart rate faults, it is not even a decent watch. You have to look at the face dead straight on or else the all the facets of the LCD display reflect ambient light and you cannot tell what its reading. Finally, the buttons are finicky on the over sensitive side.

Other Thoughts: If you are interested in a good heart rate monitor, invest the money. If you want cheap, find your pulse and time it; don't throw away money on throw away junk. You have too many gadgets already.

4 out of 5 eggsHandy workout watch

Pros: Lightweight, clear display, multiple functions.

Cons: My only gripe is that the heart rate monitor gives you only a simple snapshot of your heartrate at the moment which you press on that function and , unless I'm doing something wrong, doesnt CONSTANTLY monitor your heart rate over a period of time. I didnt take an egg off for that though because I dont believe it claims to be able to constantly monitor your heart rate, but I took and egg because the controls and menus(?) are kinda weird in that resetting the stopwatch and timer take a few different button pushes, and while running or whatever I can't spend a long time fiddling with my watch.

Other Thoughts: Overall its nice to wear to the gym/workingout while sweaty etc and serves its purpose; telling the time, stopwatch/timer function, being water resistant, and giving me my heart rate when I ask it to.

1 out of 5 eggsButtons gone bad

Pros: Got a great sale price ($19.99). Worked well at first.

Cons: After about 1.5 months, the bezel buttons seem to be stuck in depressed state, and I can't change modes or set time any more. Also previously noted narrow LCD viewing angle.

Other Thoughts: I originally wrote favorable review at 11/21/2011 10:49:36 AM. After longer use, the sensor seemed to need moist skin to get a pulse reading. After button failure, the display still looks sane, but maybe swimming with the watch has caused the buttons to get stuck.

1 out of 5 eggsunusable

Pros: $1 consumer value monitor case without wrist band

Cons: poor construction quality + cheap plastic = unusable

Other Thoughts: Wrist band fell apart on the first attempt to wear.
Non repairable because of cheap plastic of the case.
(I can replace wristband or bracelet of a regular watch easy).
No more Bowflex products for me.
I never had a single quality problem with $20 Casio watch with plastic case,
so plastic, as opposed to metal, is not an issue here.

3 out of 5 eggsIt Works, Sorta

Pros: It does what it says.
It appears to be accurate when it finally kicks in.
It's cheap.

Cons: It's ugly, it's uncomfortable, it's huge, it requites both hands to operate.

Other Thoughts: Let's see how long it lasts until it fails.

2 out of 5 eggsHard to Use the Pulse Feature

Pros: It has a lot of features. Along with the pulse mode it has a timer and stopwatch. It also has all the features you would expect in a digital watch: Day, date, time and a light for night viewing.

Cons: Unfortunately, the pulse feature - which gives your heart rate - is hard to use. You have to put two fingers on two pads located at the top and bottom of the watch. The pulse won't show unless both fingers are placed just so on the pads. Its frustrating and you often need to repeat several times to get your heart rate.

Considering that this is the primary reason to buy the watch, this is a deal killer.

The plastic watch band is very loose and you constantly have to mess with it or the end of the band sticks up.

Other Thoughts: If you are planning to buy a new digital watch this would not be a bad choice. Otherwise, I would consider another brand.
