The Summit Viper SD has become an iconic presence in the treestand world over the last fourteen years. We introduced it as a steel stand all the way back in 1998, and we have made several changes over the years to make it even better. Aluminum construction, More comfortable seat, QuickDraw cable attachment, RapidCimb Stirrips, Bent Cable arms and now we are improving it yet again.

The Summit Viper SD (SD stands for sound deadening) features the new Dead Metal sound deadening technology, available on all Summit's climber's. It works by filling in critical parts of the platform with a custom engineered expanding foam. We know that every little bit of noise reduction goes a long way in keeping you concealed and that is why we spent years developing this stand improvement. We also know that your time is valuable so for 2012 all Summit Climbing stands are Pre-Assembled from the factory. The Viper SD It is often imitated but never duplicated.

The Summit Viper SD is light - only 20lbs with a seat and cables. It is also portable - the frame nests together and packs on your back. The solid front bar makes it easy to use - no supporting your weight on your arms. Just sit on the bar and let your legs do the work. The frame design works just as well for bow hunting as with a rifle. It can do it all - and it is no wonder why the Viper is so popular.

With your Summit Viper SD you will also get a 4-point safety harness, RapidClimb Stirrups, and all necessary pads, hardware, ropes and straps. Plus, you'll be covered under Summit's Five Year Limited Warranty. VMInnovations is an authorized Summit dealer that sells new, warranted products!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Climber

Pros: Light Weight, Strong, Feels Very Safe

Cons: The bungee cord used to secure your feet under the foot hooks would be better if it were one of those rubber bungees. The elastic like bungee feels too flimsy for my liking.

Other Thoughts: I feel distracted by the harness, it seems to take my focus off the climbing. I "feel" safer just attaching the harness to the frame of the climber, and then securing it to the tree once I'm in position. This is a no-no (should always have the harness secured to the tree above your head), but it was much easier, and less cumbersome. There are devices out there that can make this better/safer, so I'll probably spend more money to improve the harness.
