2 out of 5 eggsProceed with caution

Pros: You get a lot more control than a home consumer device, the controller software is very easy to configure, and should make expanding your AP footprint painless (currently only have 1 AP, planned to expand after working with the device, but now reconsidering that plan).
Coverage is decent, but there is an FCC regulation on radio power plus antenna gain, so it is no better than any other AP that broadcasts on the maximum power allowed. Ceiling mount is nice for providing better coverage than table in the corner mount like most home consumer devices.

Cons: Much like a home consumer device, if there isn't an easy configuration option on the web gui that meets your needs, than you won't be getting it configured the way you want. Software is a little quirky, and support is abysmal. I initially installed a configuration with an unlimited bandwidth user group and a limited bandwidth guests group; and I couldn't understand why my unlimited group was capped at 100Mbps, my ISP is 200Mbps and I could get that on the wire going to the AP. After trying lots of different suggestions from the user boards I attempted to change the "unlimited" setting to 200Mbps and the controller wouldn't allow it, 100Mbps is the highest limit possible. Then I removed the 20Mbps limit from my guest network and just made everything unlimited and immediately got 200Mbps throughput through the AP. When I described this situation to the support tech on email, I was told that I didn't understand how to do bandwidth control and I should read a totally useless knowledge base article; no way this was a bug in their software. Coincidence that setting one limit caps all users to the maximum limit allowed in the controller? seems unlikely. I'll leave it without the bandwidth limits by user group, but as this is a key feature that i wanted, I might have to look elsewhere in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat dual-band WiFi

Pros: Amazing coverage, even on medium / low power and not properly mounted -- testing it on my desk, I was getting useable 2.4 GHz coverage almost everywhere.

Now that it's been properly mounted (middle of the upstairs hallway ceiling), the coverage is perfect on 2.4 GHz across the house.

5GHz is a great save from the neighbors wifi-soup too (they're all over the place, from channels 2-10 ... yes, really).

Cons: None on the AP side.

New controller version (4.6.x) is a little wonky though, as it's intended for an entire UniFi environment (i.e. Unifi Security Gateway+ Unifi Switch + Unifi AP); with no way currently to turn off the grey "no info" bubbles for the missing components.

Other Thoughts: If you're in the market for a solid AP, and are fed up with sub-par offerings from the typical SOHO vendors; this should be at the top of your list.

4 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal Access Point - Half the Price!

Pros: - Easy to deploy/setup
- Fast 5 GHz
- Fully configurable

Cons: - Could be faster, but not terrible.

Other Thoughts: I bought the Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-Pro to meet my growing demands for high speed wireless connectivity through the house. Personally I use Ethernet for anything within reason, but it isn't even ethical to use adapters to use ethernet on my phone. This is where the step-up from Residential to Business grade wireless helps. Let's admit it, there are absolutely no Residential access point solutions for mass-deployment at this price point for the features included. I've been doing networking for close to 5 years, which is very minuscule and been upgrading my network over the years. Having deployed Ubiquiti UAP Standards before, I knew exactly what I wanted/needed. I currently run 3 UAP Access Points in my home; 2 Standard and 1 Pro. The 5 GHz band is actually pretty wide, despite the non-sense you hear about it being theoretically half the distance of the 2.4 GHz, however that could be due to the congested 2.4 GHz in my area where the 5 GHz truly shines due to the much narrow usage. Regardless I find this Access Point fully suitable, and would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking to deploy a cheaper wireless access point to keep up with their bandwidth needs. In real-world tests, I found the 5 GHz band capable of delivering 90 Mbps over WiFi to my MacBook Pro (with AC wifi), I currently subscribe to 120 Mbps internet, so for 90 Mbps over wireless I'm beyond satisfied. The regular UAP Standards can only deliver about 40-50 Mbps (They are on HT20 because we have legacy devices). That is my experience and throughput with the devices, and obviously I'll attempt to change settings and get higher speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsI am a network engineer and IT systems administrator

Pros: These are great. I can't say anything else.

Cons: Some java issues, easily resolved if you have any technical skills.
Adoption failure required SSH to reconfigure the inform location (IP address of controller machine), then force adopt.

Other Thoughts: Set it, and forget it! Never needs a reboot. Range all the way out in my client's parking lot. Great AP isolation for guest network. The domain is secure, whilst still providing a guest WiFi network (which has QoS priority/throttling for guest users--when domain users try to use internet, or network resources, they are given the priority). My clients and I simply love these.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is my second time ordering these!!

Pros: I purchased two more of these access points for a house with an almost vertical layout. They have tried everything getting signal to the 3rd floor without having to run any more wires throughout the house.

They always just work
Using the controller on an apple is just as easy as Windows.

Cons: Not a con... but it was actually overkill for the house

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a quality AP without taking out a loan just to buy one... get these. You won't be sorry

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome AP

Pros: Super Fast, Great Range, 2 gig ports so you can daisy chain another AP, Rock solid.

Cons: Requires controller for setup. Controller does not need to be running after the configuration is pushed to the device.

Other Thoughts: I love how this access point looks, the feature set, and performance. This is certainly the best bang for the buck. AP comes with two gig ports so you don't have to run another cable all the way back to your switch to place another AP.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat AP. But controller had/has issues.

Pros: Great coverage. Great speed. Expand-ability. Guest AP isolation. Secure. Set it up and forget about it! PoE! Gigabit ports!

Cons: UniFi controller compatibility issues with Windows Server 2012 R2 (maybe? or a misconfiguration of the AP on Ubiquiti's part) Basically, after hours of forum-hunting we found a discrete command that we had to issue to the device through SSH over PuTTY that allowed us to configure the device from the web config. A 10 minute setup turned into 45 minutes longer than it should have, and that is money I wish I didn't have to charge my clients for. It's not fair to them, especially when I promoted Ubiquiti.

Other Thoughts: Usable on Win2012R2, but, be prepared for speed bumps. As soon as I the AP was manually reconfigured over SSH and was forcefully adopted into the UniFi Controller, the AP worked (we initially thought it was DOA). Since then has been very good. But this was an extremely limiting hurdle that should have NEVER been experienced.

Nevertheless, I will continue to stand by Ubiquiti and use their products with my clients. They are game changers providing top-of-the-line enterprise hardware at a FRACTION of the cost.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best AP's Ever!!

Pros: These have to be the best AP's hands down! I ordered them yesterday and I actually got them today with 2 day shipping... Thanks NewEgg, you never let me down!! It took a while to get the Controller Software up and running but once I did I started laughing about how easy it was to set up group AP's. All you do is setup the WIFI settings in the controller and basically plug them in and click one button.... Really!!! These are Enterprise grade Access Points also! You really don't need an IT degree to figure these out. I can even upgrade all the firmware from one place (they have a cool rolling upgrade so you don't lose connectivity at once).

We have multiple subnets, so I have 3 Controllers for each site; however, they have a service for $15 a month for Cloud Controlling, I think I'm going to do that, so I don't have to go running around to all the buildings.

I just hope someday they make routers and Switches for Enterprise setups so I can get rid of all my Cisco stuff!

Cons: It took a while to figure out how to install the Controller software. It has a problem with Java and if it's not the right version it won't even run. If the computer is 64 bit, you need to install the 32 and 64 bit versions in order for the Controller to start. This isn't a big deal, just got me nervous when I was first trying to install the AP's. Everything is good now. Maybe they will fix the installer in a future update.

Other Thoughts: These are by far the best Access Point's I have ever purchased. We have 5 buildings and roughly 160 employees so I picked up 14 of these. I was at first looking at Cisco... but I was so frustrated with the horrid setup routine for the Cisco's. I was looking around and came across these (I must admit that I never heard of them before!!). I am so glad I read the reviews and asked a couple questions.

All 5 building's are setup for one Employee WIFI Group, so people don't have to worry about changing AP's all the time. They all work as one without any crazy configuring. I honestly kept looking to see if I was messing it up because I thought "it can't be this easy". I had 14 of them setup in about an hour, it took longer going to each location than setting them up.
