The UniFi UAP AC from Ubiquiti is the fastest indoor 802.11ac dual-band access point, ideal for deployment of high-performance wireless networks. It utilizes 3x3 MIMO Technology for simultaneous dual band operation. It delivers blazing-fast wireless connection speeds, and allows for a long wireless operation range of up to 122m. You can use the free UniFi Controller to provision thousands of UniFi APs, map out networks, quickly manage system traffic, and provision additional UniFi APs.

Thanks to its aesthetic industrial design with LED indicator, and the Plug-and-Play installation design, you can easily mount to a ceiling tile or wall by using the included mounting hardware. This model comes with two Gigabit Ethernet ports for reliable, fast wired connection. Plus, it supports Power over Ethernet; no extra power cord is required.

  • newegg Breakthrough dual-band Wi-Fi performance The UniFi UAP AC offers simultaneous dual-band operation with 3x3 MIMO technology for each band. It supports speeds of up to 1300 Mbps in the 5GHz radio band, and up to 450 Mbps in the 2.4GHz radio band. It has a range of up to 122m (400ft) and two Gigabit Ethernet ports.
  • newegg Multi-Site Management The UniFi Controller software* is a powerful, enterprise wireless software engine. It’s ideal for high-density client deployments requiring low latency and high uptime performance. A single UniFi Controller running in the cloud can manage multiple sites: multiple, distributed deployments and multi-tenancy for managed service providers. (* The UniFi Controller software is free to download.)
  • newegg Scalability for thousands With its software-based capabilities, the UniFi virtual control plane allows for unlimited scalability under one centralized controller.
  • newegg Other advanced software features The UniFi Controller software also offers a rich set of advanced software features, giving you added convenience. You can upload map images of your location(s) for a visual representation of each wireless network. Use the configurable reporting and analytics to manage large user populations and expedite troubleshooting. Take advantage of WLAN groups for flexible configuration of large deployments and enable wireless connection between APs to extend range. Create one large wireless network across multiple Aps, so users can roam and seamlessly maintain their connection as they switch to the nearest AP. And more!
  • newegg Power over Ethernet (PoE) The UniFi AP-Pro boasts Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality, allowing both power and data to be carried over a single Ethernet cable to the device. It includes a Power over Ethernet adapter, and can also be powered by the Ubiquiti TOUGHSwitch PoE PRO (sold separately). Plus, it’s compatible with an 802.3at compliant switch.
  • newegg Sleek industrial design – simple configuration With its clean industrial design, the UniFi UAP AC can be seamlessly integrated into any wall or ceiling surface*. 4 out of 5 eggsGreat performance once set up

Pros: Easy to set up, but you have to use their controller software from a PC.
Solid performance and range, so far, no issues in 2 months.

Cons: Have to use controller software on PC, no HTTP interface.

Other Thoughts: Bought this while waiting for the new, UAP-AC-PRO version. Received recently, will compare performance to the new unit once we set it up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Super easy setup.
Stable as a rock
Great Range

Cons: None. Excellent product.

Other Thoughts: Running the additional software isn't something that is required all the time. Unless you want to have a custom web page for guest wireless.

2 out of 5 eggsMajor Bug: Unresolved

Pros: It works, seems tb pretty strong signal.

Cons: Instead of just a web page into the device, you need UniFi's proprietary software running on your PC and it has problems... see "Other Thoughts"

Other Thoughts: Check out the long-running "Unifi wifi Controller shows APs are disconnected but they are UP and communicating with the controll..." thread on Ubiquiti's forum

1 out of 5 eggsHope you don't need their customer service

Pros: Compact shape

Cons: Broke in six weeks. Slow, deliberately unresponsive customer service. Requires Java 7

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a companion to UAP Pro to cover half of the office and to give users with new phones somewhat better wifi throughput.
Device stopped working in about six weeks - beginning of December. Checked to see if it can be restarted, software promptly crashed - turns out Java was updated to version 8, while Ubiquiti will not work beyond version 7.
Newegg will not help beyond 30 days (it was about 45 days from date of purchase) so no replacement.
Ubiquiti requires email contact which is sheer madness - describe all that you did to verify that device is broken, etc, etc. Check the cables, check the PoE injector, send all numbers from the back of unit. Seven emails later - ok, get an RMA. By then it's January 5.
Forward in time, it's January 19 as I am leaving this review and replacement unit did not arrive. I am getting different product from another brand.
None of those guys for a moment thinks: "We've sold $300 worth of junk, let's help him.". Mind you, I have eight other people relying on my decision to deploy this device.
In conclusion, if you buy Ubiquiti, you better hope it works, because if it breaks it's as good as burning money.

2 out of 5 eggsUnable to pass 54Mbps speeds. Terrible customer service

Pros: Easy to setup and great price. Very easy to configure, great admin interface, and works right out of the box.

Cons: 1) Unable to connect any of our devices past 54Mbps speeds. Doesn't matter if its using ac or n. When I broke out the 5Ghz frequency out to its own SSID, MBPr, Thinkpads, etc can't connect past 54M.
2) Been working with "Sam H." over email on their technical support and so far it's been incredibly frustrating. He's a) ask me to update firmware b) reset the firmware. When that didn't solve the issue we spend another 2 days back and forth verifying our devices support 802.11ac (after I've originally specified the laptops connect to our other 802.11ac APs just fine) and if I can split out the 5GHz frequency to another SSID, which I was already doing from day 1 and clearly noted.

I asked him to elevate my query and his reply is asking me to install a remote desktop software and "Can I get remote access your system?" Not schedule a time to talk over the phone and walk through the process using screen share. He wants to take over the desktop of a sys admin. You've got to be kidding me.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent AP

Pros: Great Management system
Range is decent
Interference mitigation on par with much higher priced equipment
Performance on par with higher priced equipment
Price for what you get is stellar

Cons: Development of the software for this is a continuing evolution.
Its not as mature as a cisco or ruckus product.

Other Thoughts: This is a great WIFi system for the money. If you throw in price to the mix this dominates pretty badly everything else.
