5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the SMB Arena!

Pros: These little puppies are great. Took me about 5 minutes to get it setup using a split guest vlan segmented from the internal staff vlan. I also have offsite locations using sonicwall vpn to connect to main sites and these will work perfect in that scenario. Took me about 30 minutes to get that working using the admin guide and the set-inform command. I will be buying a lot more of these devices. Another big plus is they come with an inline POE adapter so even if your switch does not support POE the adapter can fix that. Seriously worth every penny.

Cons: I have not seen any cons at this point. For a small business this is perfect. I don't think these will ever get a look from a larger enterprise company but for SMB it is perfect.

4 out of 5 eggsThey work.

Pros: They work pretty well. They have good range, good throughput, easy enough to configure once you get them on the unifi controller. The biggest pro is that they are not super costly and horrible to support like Meraki or Aerohive.

Cons: SO HOT!
These things seriously sizzle. I've heard they are notorious for overheating, and I can confirm that. Keep em ventilated if possible.

Other Thoughts: My coffee was good this morning.

4 out of 5 eggsno ZHO

Pros: Good performance.
Love the free software controller.
Comes with 802.3at power injectors.

Cons: While the other Ubiquiti APs support zero hand off roaming (ZHO) between APs, these UAP-AC models do not. In my mind that's pretty much a requirement for a multi-access point deployment. Otherwise, you might as well just by a collection of random APs and use the same SSID on all of them.

Other Thoughts: I wish the configuration had more options, but it's a reasonable mix of simple to use while covering the basics. If you expect your switch to power these, make sure it supports the higher powered "802.3at" spec.
Apparently, there is a problem with the wireless chipset in these models with ZHO. I really hope they iron that out.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performance

Pros: Channel hopping and clean channel seeking technology.
Great speeds, quality design.
Enterprise features.
Great built in analysis tools.

Cons: No embedded web based interface for configuration
Requires software to configure.
If you lose the configure file you have to factory default to make any changes

Other Thoughts: Hands down this is a very high quality wireless access point. Consumer access points have been failing left and right for my clients. I will only recommend these for consumers now.

last installation I did was on a network with a cable modem delivering 100 Mbit. I was connected only wireless N protocol and was testing 100 mbit down with speedtest.net. That speaks for itself.

If you have an area congested with neighboring wifi units. This unit is for you.

5 out of 5 eggsA+ product!

Pros: Amazing product. I'm a network consultant so I have worked with many different brands of WAPs. We needed an enterprise class wireless network but in looking at a cost of around $1600 per Cisco Aironet I was not sure that client could afford the number of WAPs it would take to properly cover their office space. Another tech suggested Ubiquiti. I spoke to other techs who have used them and most believe this is the best kept secret in wireless technology. Add me to their ranks! A+ product!

Cons: Might put the Cisco Aironet out of business.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: Single Point Management for Multiple APs at Separate Locations.
Easy to Configure Locally.
Real-time User Connection Listing by AP.
Vlan.

Cons: Tricky to Configure APs at Separate Location with a Different Network schema: You have to SSH onto the AP to properly point it to the management software. Kudos to the help guide.

Other Thoughts: We were having repeated problems with our Sonicwall APs. I placed these Unifi UAP-ACs and the Unifi Pro-APs at two of our four locations, and they've been working great. It's nice to see all the connected user information from both locations in one spot. For each device, you get the signal strength, upload KB, download KB, and connection duration. I plan to buy more of these for our other two locations.
