AP Mode(Default)
Definition: HT-WR01 is connected to a wired network and transforms the wired Internet access into wireless so that multiple devices can share the Internet. It works as an access point.
1. Office, home, hotel and places where only wired network is available.
2. LAN gaming party, small meeting with file sharing and other situations where a temporary network is needed.

Repeater Mode
Definition: HT-WR01 copies and reinforces the existing wireless signal to extend the coverage of the signal. So the network name(SSID) and password don't change. This mode is especially useful for a large space to eliminate signal-blind corners.
Application: Large house, office, warehouse or other spaces where the existing signal is weak.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Little Repeater

Pros: Easy Set up and hasn't ever dropped a connection. Software was easy to use and its very small compared to an ordinary router.

Cons: None... Super Happy with this product!

Other Thoughts: I remember reading that this unit takes up an entire duplex plug... not so. its adjustable and takes up only one outlet. the other is without any obstruction. By The way, this isn't my first Hoo Too product. Their Customer service is Top Notch!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Extends strong and reliable signal
Access point mode works well also

Cons: Need networking knowledge to get it to work right.
Average person with little experience in router adjustments will struggle to get it working following the instructions provided.

Other Thoughts: It finds your router signal just fine, but you have to tell it to use that signal.
In my case I only have a wired network of PCs and only use the Wifi part of my router for small tablets and iPods.
I had to hook it up to one of my PCs with the provided Ethernet cable and get into its software that way. From there I was able to tell it to use my router signal.
It worked great as a access point.
I am using it as a repeater/range extender so I had to fumble with some of the other settings until I accomplished that. The device has to reboot after making any setting. I assume you can gain access to the device with a Wifi enabled laptop or PC but I didn't try it that way since I have neither.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate from 11-19-13 review

Pros: See other thoughts

Cons: See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: As an update to be fair to this reseller, I did receive several support emails over night. Suggestions where made which did not improve the situation so I requested an R.M.A.
I received a complete refund no questions asked so I would not hesitate to buy from this seller.

1 out of 5 eggsugh

Pros: Good price
installs "out of the way"
easy set-up

Cons: requires a full outlet
once set-up, bandwidth was *awful*

Other Thoughts: There's a note on their site that this only extends networks "horizontally", not "vertically". Really? I wasn't aware that was an option, but perhaps that's what my problems are caused by. If so, that needs to be clearer prior to purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally

Pros: It works in a tough house for WiFi. It takes 3 bars and boots it up to 5 bars and that gives me 3-5 bars throughout the house. Without it I got 0 bars in half of the house.

Cons: Instructions for wireless setup were not correct and need to be re-written.

Other Thoughts: After 3 hours of trying to make it work by the instructions, Tech Support called me back and got me to the REAL step 1, and setup was a breeze. You have to start out on your laptop or iPad and go to the Wireless Connection List. Open that up and find the wireless repeater (at the bottom of the list) THEN everything works great.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for me

Pros: Comes with good reviews
Looks good

Cons: There are many, see other thoughts.
No support
Poor instructions
Far from plug and play

Other Thoughts: I was intending to use this to extend the range a bit on my existing wired/wireless network. The setup wizard may work if you are not going to change any other settings but Getting back into the configuration page is a pain so it’s better to change any advance settings first. After a few resets I got it set up and working and I could access the configuration page from my computer. This lasted about 5 min. until it crashed and crashed my wireless router with it. Every time you reset you have to reenter your router’s passkey and go through the whole setup again.
No help on the web. No answer when you call support. No answer when you email support. After spending too much of a day on this thing it’s going back.

3 out of 5 eggsHT-WR01

Pros: After I figured out that I was stupid and not the repeater the setup was no problem. It fixed my wireless problems upstairs. My wife no longer keeps telling me about how bad her Wi-Fi is on her Ipad.

Cons: I have some serious issues with the quality of this unit. When unboxed and plugged in it wouldn't work. when I touched it the lights would flicker on and then off again. I finally realized that the plug on the back didn't function in the position that it was shipped in. I turned it 90 degrease and it functioned normally. I'm not really happy about the way it looks in this position, but it is working now.

5 out of 5 eggsSome Help

Pros: Great working A/P AND Range Extender in one for a very nice price. (Allegedly awesome tech support on the phone.) VERY fast in everything it does. LOTs and LOTs of settings! Some wireless settings I'd never even seen before! All common security features available.

Cons: Unusually bad instructions, little web based help (yet)

Other Thoughts: I didn't get this at Newegg, but I read the reviews here.
It actually hurts my brain to see this thing get trashed because people can't figure out how to set it up and I thought I'd try to help.
You can't get at anything that's on a different subnet. In other words, if you have your computer set for, say,, and you try to talk to something set at, say, (which the YooToo comes set to), you won't be able to talk to it. You must set TCP/IP properties in connection properties (in Windows) to 192.168.10.x and THEN go to, which is the YooToo. (The 10 is the important number.) THEN you can get at the YooToo and set it to whatever IP address you want and set your computer back. Once you're in, this thing has a setting for everything you could ever need and it will work unless you actually got a broken one (very unlikely). Seriously, the web interface in the device is waaay better than the booklet that comes with it!! Once you're in, you're in!
Do NOT, unless you're real slick, turn on the YooToo's DHCP! It will "grab" devices from the LAN asking for IP's and give out IP addresses "behind your router's back" and make a very hard to troubleshoot mess. Turn off DHCP in the YooToo and let the router handle it; the YooToo will pass it right on through. With these two things in mind, I think anyone would have to end up loving this thing once it's set up. Everything it does is blazing fast! Seriously, (even) the web interface is faster than the web interface in my top of the line dual band N router is!! Only my gigabit switches are faster than this thing! (And they don't have to come up with web pages.)

1 out of 5 eggsNot working....

Pros: It's small...

Cons: Try connecting this product several time on different networks and I couldn't get it to run. it connects to my router but when you try to access the repeater it give you a limited connection.

Other Thoughts: Try every possible way to get this unit to share my internet connection with no success.
