1 out of 5 eggsNot even worth returning

Pros: Small investment

Cons: -Potato processing
-Static in headphone output
-Charge port became loose, tried to manually re-solder the connection. Didn't work.

Other Thoughts: Fancy paper weight if those around you aren't technically savvy. (The solder job is terrible. It looks like it was all human-soldered.)

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of $$ and Time

Pros: It did work several times.

Cons: It worked several times and just quit. Won't power up and won't reset.

Other Thoughts: You can get a used or refurb Ausus Memo Pad 7 for a few bucks more that allows entry into Google Play store. This thing does not.

4 out of 5 eggsGood enough for the price

Pros: My wifi did work (not all of them are bad).
The screen is okay, but the sensitivity is somewhat lacking near the very edges.
Though some complain that it is impossible to get the Google Play Store, it is not that hard (has to be installed like a system app, though, otherwise it might not work properly). When rooting this device, however, it certainly helps to have an old 32-bit Windows XP machine laying around for driver reasons (I had a lot of trouble with commonly available tools on my Windows 8.1 64bit laptop, as a first time Android user with this tablet)
My case securely holds the tablet inside it.

Cons: No bluetooth (and no way to get a dongle working)

Keyboard is pretty small for my fingers.
As the specs mention, the CPU and RAM are quite modest. Even though it says "tri-core 1.2 Ghz" it really isn't (though there might be some power saving throttling or something happening, mine seems to usually run at something like 800-900 Mhz). Most games with any 3-D graphics are either glitchy or too slow to be enjoyable, but there are still quite a few that can be enjoyed (Organ Trail, anyone?)

Other Thoughts: If you are using this as a cheap car-puter, make sure that your OBD-II module is one that works over WiFi (or possibly usb?)

1 out of 5 eggsNot good

Pros: Fast response to touch

Cons: Can't see screen, keyboard too small, doesn't fit in case

Other Thoughts: I thought for $40 it would at least be a good little tablet for web surfing and facebook. I can pull up the web and facebook quickly but then I can't really see it good. You have to tilt the screen just right to make out the images. Some of the icons on the screen are like that too. The cable for the keyboard is on the wrong side of the tablet. When you close the case the cable is sticking out the side. It also doesn't connect good, so sometimes the keyboard just stops. Oh, and the tablet does not fit securely in the case. it has three little brackets that the tablet slides into and can easily slide out.

3 out of 5 eggsThe Keyboard/Case is the biggest attraction here

Pros: It comes with a detachable keyboard/case combo so you won't be frustrated with a virtual keyboard or trying to poke items items that are too close on the screen. Thus you can use your finger & the touch screen like a mouse with the rest of the input from the keyboard. The case itself (even if you aren't interested in the keyboard) is better than most. Instruction manual is somewhat better than other cheap tablets.

Cons: It is slow and on mine the speaker is not very loud. There is a higher learning curve on this. It isn't the "unpack, turn on, go direct to an app store" process that many buyers expect. You have to find several key apps on the Net, download them to a PC and then sideload them to the unit and then install them. Google Play and other apps such as Adobe Reader, ScummVM, Opera can be found and installed manually this way. Once this done, the unit acts more friendly. Manual specifically states that the unit can not be charged through the USB micro port (keyboard uses that). Charging unit uses a needle like plug instead of a Mini RCA or Micro USB.

Other Thoughts: You will need a USB Male A to USB Micro Male cable to connect to a PC which is included with other tablets as part of the charging unit. When plugged into a PC, the tablet is IDed as a single media device rather than removable media (internal & external flash drives). The apps included do not refer to the internal flash memory and external micro SD card uniformly so novice users may be confused where their data is being stored. The keyboard/case can be used on other 7in tablets like a Polaroid PMID705. and it can be found for sale separately

1 out of 5 eggsNot Worth the trouble

Pros: price is all the PRO this gets...5 eggs for Newegg as usual the service is beyond expectations.

Cons: purchased two of these.. one came in DOA. returned it RMA... received it and sold it, (had already replaced it with a new one purchased locally (hard to tell a 6 year old that she has to send her Christmas gift back the day she receives it)..second one worked just past the 1/31/2014 date for turns on but can not connect to the internet...thinking I should of not purchased this garbage.

Other Thoughts: instead of PROSCAN they should call themselves PROSCAM.... Newegg should not sell such products as it makes them look bad...

3 out of 5 eggsPre-rooted

Pros: Pre-rooted
Not connected to google account -- privacy!

Cons: No Play Store from Google

Out of the main stream for an android device

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these under the Polaroid name.

It is not a google registered device so no play store but also no google account so no data flowing to the cloud and no google data spying.

You can get some apps from 1mobile market. They are usually good. A few might be dodgy.

This baby is pre-rooted. You hook it to ADB and it comes up with a root shell. If you install SU and SuperUser, you will be rooted.

So for a beginning android hacker this would be a good one to cut your teeth on. If you brick it, you're out $40 bucks. This would be what a book on android would cost and you can learn a lot.

Lastly, if you travel with it and loose it. You loose 40 bucks. Who would want to steal a cheap chinese tablet and not having it hooked to a google account means the crooks can't get at your google data. Don't do any serious web purchases on it and don't have the browser save any passwords or autofill, and you have a potentially low personal data content device.

So its not a Nexus or Galaxy or Ipad but its cheap, hackable and disposable.
