Samsung DW80F800UWS: DW80F800UWS Top Control Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub (Stainless Steel)Samsung DW80F800UWS: DW80F800UWS Top Control Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub (Stainless Steel)
This review is from: Samsung DW80F800UWS: DW80F800UWS Top Control Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub (Stainless Steel)
Pros: Quiet (when it's working), nice finish, lots of room
Cons: The main logic board failed after 9 months of normal household use - a persistent "1E" high-temp error immediately upon power-on. Inlet water temp is a normal 125F.
It took Samsung 2 weeks (and multiple cancelled repair tickets) to find a local repair shop who would do the warranty work. Most refused to touch it - I can see why. After *another* week of delay, the guy came out and swapped in a new board. The washer powered up, but didn't run quite right. The LEDs didn't work like they did before, and we noticed that the dishes didn't clean very well. But it was fixed, according to the repair tech - warranty satisfied. The "repair" lasted about 2 months - until just past the warranty expiration. Then the board failed with the "1E" temp sensor error again. Google it - this is an endemic problem with this model.
So I pull the front cover to check the logic board - and find out that the repair guy had swapped in the wrong part. He put in a controller for a different model entirely (DE41-00391A instead of DD92-00033B). They're physically identical (mostly), but the timing and control sequences are different. That's probably why it only partially worked with the new board. This shop has a terrible online reputation, but they were the only ones Samsung could get to do anything.
Now I have to try and find the correct replacement board, and possibly the heat sensor and inlet value. It's not rocket science to swap in the parts, but I shouldn't have to do it on a fairly new, very expensive appliance.
Other Thoughts: Samsung customer support is a joke. After you go through extensive verification that you did indeed purchase their product (make sure you get the proper receipts from the store), you *might* get a repair ticket assigned. Which can then be cancelled by Samsung with no notice to you. So keep logging in and checking that status page every day.
I suspect that most dealers don't want to do warranty repairs due to low compensation from Samsung -they certainly weren't jumping at the chance to drive 2-3 miles to my suburban address and fix the thing.
