5 out of 5 eggsAudio System is Now Stable...Finally!

Pros: My Kenwood 9105D Mono amp (1800W) was shutting off randomly for several months. I tested EVERY aspect of my system, bought a new battery, and was still having the problem. I was blowing 80A fuses, and after installing this capacitor, everything was stable.

My SUV's stock alternator and new 750 CCA battery did not allow lights to dim a whole lot when the bass hits, but interior incandescent cabin lights dimmed slightly. The dimming isn't completely gone, but it's so minute I don't even notice it.

Great performance/price, compared to "name" brands.

They say caps make your system hit harder. When my system would hit hard, it would blow a fuse. I cannot say that it is more intense, but it is definitely harder in the sense that I can bump for hours without any worry. - Literally, hours. I drove to the beach ~4.5 hrs away with loud, bass filled music, nearly the entire way.

Cons: Installing it was a bit confusing, and nerve wrecking. This capacitor is capable of delivering a lethal shock if the two contacts are bridged by your body. When I charged the capacitor up to capacity, and removed the resistor from my + cable, the voltage dropped on the cap's display quickly. Somewhere around 1V per second, if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if this is normal, since a cap's job is to maintain a huge potential difference. Maybe this is where the difference in brand comes in, because I would imagine the materials used inside (dielectric and plates) would have this draining effect.

The poles have no covers.

Other Thoughts: The bolts are 5/16", if I remember correctly. It's been many months since I installed this, so don't quote me!

Flashing blue light which looks neat at night in the trunk area of my hatchback SUV.

Be safe!

My bass package:
Boss 4ga. amp kit, (with upgraded 80A AGU fuse).
Kenwood 9105D 1800W Mono Amplifier
Dual Kicker Comp. VR 12" in Kicker ported box. (great subs, btw. I wasn't a fan of Kicker until purchasing these).
Db Link 4ga. amp wiring kit.
Toyota 4Runner Sport
