5 out of 5 eggsSo Many Ports!

Pros: 10 USB ports
3.0 USB
On/Off Button

Cons: Almost not enough ports!

Other Thoughts: Never did I think would I need a 10 port USB hub. But guess what? Times have changed. And it seems that I can never have enough USB ports. Between trying to find enough outlets to charge everything, to finding more USB ports on my computer to attach printers, scanners, thumb drives, hard drives, remotes, mice, keyboard, there just isn’t enough ports. Luckily, that’s where this 10 port USB hub comes in.

As a computer USB hub, this device provides an astonishing 10 USB 3.0 ports. This is one of the largest number of ports I’ve seen in the market. My computer is also limited on the number of USB 3.0 ports, so expanding that to 10 makes it very convenient. I often copy files USB thumb drive to USB thumb drive, so not only does this make that easy, but I don’t have to bend over and find an empty port on my computer. I have this hub on my desk and it makes copying a breeze. I can noticeably see the speed difference from using the old USB 2.0 ports (since I can now open up more USB 3.0 ports). And data transfers are easier. I move large videos and photo files around for my photography hobby, and friends always want copies from events, so speed is important since I shoot in RAW format. I’m actually thinking of getting a 2nd 10 port to clean up the clutter of wires behind my desk. I can use it to hook in all my peripherals, so my computer is cleaner, port wise.

Another use I found this to be handy for is a charging hub. EVERYONE in my family has a smart device now, a smart phone, a tablet. I have half a dozen myself, including a work phone, a personal phone, and a spam phone. I have a very hard time keeping every device charged. So I left this on my kitchen counter one day and got 10 USB charging cables. I hooked up my 3 phones, my 3 tablets, and a couple power banks. Left them all charging overnight. When I woke up, they were all charged. Hands down, one of the best devices there is to charge multiple USB devices at once. This device easily frees up wall outlets from multiple bulky USB adapters. The fact this has an on/off button also means it’s greener. Plugs left in the wall suck up power. But since you can power down the USB hub when you aren’t using it, it means electricity savings. I also like to travel a lot, especially on cruises. And it’s difficult finding enough plugs in the room. Hint, there’s only 1 plug in the cabin. This is great as everyone in the cabin can charge their phones at the same time.

Overall, this is a very useful device that can be used in multiple settings. You might think 10 ports is a lot, but when you start using it, you’ll find all 10 full easily.

5 out of 5 eggsLovin it..

Pros: - 10 USB 3.0 ports
- Powered
- Aluminum case

Cons: - Supplied USB cable is only 3ft
- No power indecator

Other Thoughts: I got this to put all my external drives on and its working great for me. I did end up getting a longer cable tough. I also added rubber feet as this didn't come with them.

Pros: Good idea.

Cons: Poor execution. The decal on the front oozes adhesive that can not be fully wiped off because more oozes out. I had to remove it.

The unit has failed after two or three months. When powered on, three lights turn on for almost a second, then back off.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this.

1 out of 5 eggsOrico Bokcore 10 Port

Pros: ZERO!

Cons: I can not get it to work! It's plugged into a USB3.0 Internal card, but the only way it "works" is if the button is pressed, once the button is released, it goes off. THE LIGHTS NEVER WORK AND I'VE SENT FIVE HELP REQUESTS, NOTHING! WORTHLESS!

1 out of 5 eggsSecond one just as bad as first one

Pros: none

Cons: I'm having similar problems with the the replacement unit that I received that I did with the first one. After connecting it to a 3.0 port on my pc and connecting 6 devices to it (4 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0), it worked. But I got a message saying that both of the Seagate Expansion drives would work faster if they were connected to a 3.0 port. Prior to installing this hub, one of the drives was connected directly to the 3.0 port that the hub is now connected to. When that was the case, I only go the 3.0 message for the other drive. When I ran some drive tests to check to see if the drives were operating at 3.0 speed anyway, I found that they were running at the same speed as my 2.0 drives ran. The drive that used to be connected directly to the 3.0 port ran at higher speed before I added the hub.

After rebooting my PC, I ended up with the same problem that I had with my first unit. The blue lights next to the ports don't light up and the PC doesn't "see" any of the devices connected to the hub. When I look at the Device Manager, it says "This device cannot start". In resources it says "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem".

I guess I'm going back to my old 2.0 hub.

1 out of 5 eggsI must have gotten a bad one

Pros: When it works, it works well with my two USB 3.0 hard drives

Cons: If I plug any USB 2.0 devices into this, nothing connected to the hub works. So, rather than replace my old 2.0 hub, I've had to add this as an additional hub. When I reboot my PC, it's about a 50/50 chance that the 3.0 drives connected to this hub will be recognized.

Other Thoughts: Given that the other reviews for this hub have been good, I guess that I need to ask for a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsNice case and performance

Pros: Case is made of metal, slopes in the front. Spacing between connectors is enough that I haven't had any problem using all of them at the same time. A blue led comes on next to the socket when a data device* is plugged in. Power switch on the side of the unit turns it off without having to unplug the main USB.

I have not done any extensive testing of throughput speeds; I have many devices in use and not interested in going through each case.

I tried using the hub with microcontroller programmers from MIcrochip. It did not work. I'm not sure if this is the hub or the programmer. In my case it was a non-issue; the hub freed up all the other ports on the machine so I just used one of those.

Overall, I am very happy with this unit and when on sale I will buy more of them. With all the phones, Bluetooth headphones, MP3 players, tablets I have it is worth it to just have on the counter for a charging station (and I have filled all 10 and not a had a problem charging anything).

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Not really cons, but a couple of things I thought odd. When you use a data device the led on the connector comes on. But when you plug something in to charge it does not. If the thing being charged didn't have some indication that it was charging you may not think it is.

The other thing is the supplied USB cable is the new 3.0 USB-B "SuperSpeed" type. Unclear to me what ramifications this may have down the road; just don't be surprised when you see it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice fit and finish

Pros: Construction quality.

Cons: Madd in China not Hong Kong
Short USB 3 cable.

Other Thoughts: After having two lesser hubs fail I plumped for this one. Construction quality appears very high and the unit has ample power for charging. Connections work well. My only complaint is that unlike my other ORICO products this one is made in China and is branded Bokcore not ORICO.
