Frequently Asked Question:
1. Why is the transfer rate far slower than 5Gbps as promoted?
A: The USB 3.0 transfer rate of 5Gbps, with a theoretical transfer speed of 625MB/s, is about 10 times faster than of the mainstream USB 2.0 transfer rate of 480Mb/s, which has a theoretical transfer speed of 60 MB/s. Taking current usage conditions into consideration, the transfer speed can achieve about 3 times that of USB 2.0. The actual transfer speed depends on the specific environment the product is used in.

2. The hub keeps suddenly disconnecting with the device while transferring data. Why is this happening?
A: If this problem is occurring with properly-installed devices, it is usually due to insufficient power supply. When the hub is transferring data - especially big data - make sure it is connected to a power source. In addition, we recommend connecting the hub to your computer with the cable provided. If not, please make sure the cable length is less than 1m, so as to ensure stable data transfer.B: Please gently push and pull the outer devices cable to let it better connected to the hub and shake the hub gently to see if they are connected solidly before use it to transfer data.

3. The devices are not being identified by my computer when connected to the USB hub, but they are being identified when connected directly to the computer. Why is this happening?
A: This problem may be the result of one of the following causes:
a. Insufficient power supply. Please connect the USB hub to a power source.
b. Compatibility between the motherboard and system. Please try refreshing the BIOS in the motherboard.
c. System or BIOS settings. The USB may be disabled in your BIOS or operating system. Please turn on the computer, press F2 or DEL to enter the BIOS interface, then select “Enable USB device”.
d. Incorrect insertion or unplugging. Do not unplug the device when transferring data in order to avoid damaging the chipset.
e. Improper driver installation. In “Device Manager”, go to “Other Devices” and select “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”. If there are any yellow questions or exclamation marks visible, uninstall the driver in “Device Manager”, and then restart your computer. The driver will be reinstalled automatically.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as described. Fast Charge port is fantastic.

Pros: A port is really great to plug everything , then I only have to plug on thing into my computer and not 10. And you better get a USB 3.0 one for future proof. It works perfect with all my devices, most of which are USB 2.0.

Cons: I wish the fast charge port was connected to the computer so I could use it to transfer files to and from my phone while it was fast charging.

Other Thoughts: I did get a peice of black electrical tape to cover up the super bright blue LED so I can sleep at night while it's on.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant, Well built perfect for the price

Pros: Well built, Works perfectly All my electronic pick up instantly. I bought this unit because the price was just in my budget with a good multiple ports and strong ac voltage adapter for extra power.
I was able to charge all my like electronic in the fast charging port.
Smart phone, tablet and other electronic
The charging system charge as fast as those portable charging unit.
Unit has no delay. I can’t really give you a speed like those other reviews, Different user with different speed on their usb can only do to its limitation on their own devices using usb 3.0. I have notice no lag at all using my mouse, some usb will do that.
Total ports 7
1 charging port
Power adapter
100 to 240 vac at 50/60 hertz

The unit power all devices like
Game console controller especially those xbox 360 or ps3 controller for your pc
Usb clone docking station hhdd
External hard drive
Many other power consuming devices. These are the devices I have used and they work perfectly without any issue

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This was a surprisingly good buy. I just purchased a new Mac Pro, and even though it has four USB 3.0 ports, that's not enough for all my peripherals. In the past, when I plugged peripherals into my USB hubs, some of them just wouldn't work unless plugged directly into the computer. This hub will work with anything I plug into it. So far, all my peripherals are USB 2.0 except for my Lexus card reader, which I just bought. Unbelievably, it transferred 9 gigabytes from my Nikon D800 in just under two minutes.

Cons: None. I like everything about it.

Other Thoughts: Obviously, it doesn't seem to work with all computers. I've noticed from reading many user reviews that those who have the biggest problems with a product either have an older computer or a laptop. Under these conditions, I would not buy the HooToo, although you could always send it back if it doesn't work. If you have a fairly new desktop computer, your chances of this hub working are multiplied, though nothing in life is for sure . . .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat USB3 hub

Pros: Picks up devices immediately. Powered 2 USB3 hdds with no issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great for expanding my USB3 capability on my Win 8.1 tablet. If your tablet does USB3, you don't have an iPad.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Okay

Pros: - Fast USB 3.0 access to my external drives.
- Ports are on both sides.
- Ordered two of these. Both work fine.
- Power adapter bulges a little on the sides but is reasonably small and lightweight.

Cons: - When I reboot and the USB port is plugged in via its external adapter it "remembers" the last connection and my devices often won't recognize again.
- Charging port is handy, but please take note that it does not connect to your host device. I use it for running something else, but it is a little weird.
- Devices don't charge fast when your computer isn't on. Probably a USB 3 thing.
- After owning this I will greatly prefer hubs with top-mounted ports. The hub moves around a lot and uses up lots of extra space if you fill both sides.

Other Thoughts: Well worth it as a budget USB hub. Next time I wouldn't order the same thing unless it was on sale. I'll probably give mine away if I find a better one, as it has enough frustrating qualities.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but unmounts drives when computer is asleep

Pros: Small, good form-factor

Cons: Unmounts during sleep

Other Thoughts: It just plugs in and works with my Macbook Pro (2012).

With 4T western digital drives, I was seeing about 140-150MB/s transfer rate which is pretty much the practical limit for those drives (I don't think USB3 can do much better anyway.) Same whether I plug directly into my Macbook pro or through the hub. So it definitely passes the speed test.

Unfortunately, when the computer sleeps, the disk drives get unmounted (which is not a problem I see if I plug them directly into the computer or use my USB2 hub). So when the machine wakes back up, I see the warnings that disks were removed improperly. I'm going to exchange it and hope that fixes the issue. I'll adjust my rating up or down depending on the outcome of that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for USB port expansion

Pros: HooToo sent me one of these for a product review. I've been using it for a couple of months now, no problems. If you are limited in the number of USB 3.0 ports on your PC, this is a great way to add up to 7 more plus a charging station for an iPad or tablet or smart phone. I have a Nexus 7 tablet that I use as a remote control for playing movies or music with PowerDVD on my PC, so I can either plug the tablet into the charging port or into a USB port if I need to share or update files between the tablet and the PC. The charging port is active when the PC is off thanks to the included transformer, plus it is up to 4 amps charging current, which is 8x the half amp provided by regular USB ports.

I haven't measured the transfer speed plugging this into one of the front USB3 ports on my case, but I can vouch that it is far faster than the front USB2 ports also on the front of my case. Of course, you have to have a USB3 device to take full advantage of the speed.

A simple to use, but great product that I'd recommend to anyone needing USB port expansion.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsSolid hub

Pros: Reliable hub, USB 3.0 is disturbingly fast with a 2013 Macbook Air. Good port arrangement for working with a variety of USB flash drives with ludicrously large plastic footprints. Been a good workhorse for the past 5 months. iOS device charging port is really handy (FYI it's just charge, no data throughput).

Cons: None so far in terms of use. If you are a minimalist in terms of desk arrangement, you might want something more compact.

1 out of 5 eggsI wouldn't purchase it again

Pros: Charge port.

Cons: It says USB 3 but the throughput from my USB 3 hard drive is only half that as compared to when the HD is connected directly to the computer. It's faster than USB 2 but definately not USB 3 in performance.

If manufacturers were honest with consumers could they stay in business?
