1 out of 5 eggsGets extremely hot - It does not work

Pros: It worked for a couple of months

Cons: After a couple of months it used to go into 'sleep mode' (so I thought) and I had to unplug and plug it in again - Luckily I did not lose any data in the HD attached to the HooToo.
When I went to unplug it today I almost burnt my fingers: the Hub was extremely hot (and dead)

Other Thoughts: The HooToo Hub was powered by AC about 99% of the time.
It died when i needed it the most, 2,000 miles away from home

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It looks nice, if it stays together in one piece

Cons: The first one fell apart in my hand when I got it and I had to snap the cover back on. After a day the device ports stopped working one by one. I filed a RMA and replaced it.

The second one worked well for almost two months but then started to have connection issues. The hub would disconnect and reconnect multiple times every few seconds.

I'm throwing this product out and trying a different brand. My advice to you is to do the same until they improve their product.

Other Thoughts: I noticed their power adapter makes a high pitch whining sound when it's supplying power to the hub. Most wont care, but that is a sign of using low quality circuit components for the adapter. Just another red flag of why you shouldn't buy this brand yet.

2 out of 5 eggsBroken

Pros: Worked well for 3 months

Cons: The main USB female connector cable is short. On my full tower PC. The main USB female connector between the PC and the HT-UH005 broke off the HT-UH005 after 3 months

1 out of 5 eggsvery disappointing

Pros: Its light, appears good

Cons: This is piece of junk, not able to support multiple harddrive, the harddrive disconnects automatically and then restarts again. Total wastage of money.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive and impressive upgrade

Pros: 1) seamless hardware and software connection
2) opens three new USB 3.0 ports
3) improved performance over native ports (???)
4) power for small external drives
5) inexpensive

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: As part of my political job I handle databases of many gigabytes on a daily basis, and need back them up. Consequently I have three terabyte+ disk systems attached to my laptop via USB. My laptop has two USB 3.0 ports, so I wanted a hub. This hub is ideal – I can attach my three drives to the hub and free up a USB port on my laptop. And, it provides power to one of otherwise unpowered disks.

On receiving the hub I ran some diagnostics to see how big a hit it would cause in backup speed. Logically one would expect some hit because there is another port for data to traverse. The data indicates otherwise – read and write speeds through this hub are actually faster than going directly to the laptop's built-in USB ports. Go figure.

I use Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) and tested speeds with the dd utility, reading 2048 blocks of 4 MiB. Here are the results:

write, with hub, 8GiB file:
8589934592 bytes (8.6 GB) copied, 98.5147 s, 87.2 MB/s
write, direct, 8GiB file:
8589934592 bytes (8.6 GB) copied, 103.329 s, 83.1 MB/s
read, with hub, 8GiB file:
8589934592 bytes (8.6 GB) copied, 102.382 s, 83.9 MB/s
read, direct, 8GiB file:
8589934592 bytes (8.6 GB) copied, 103.345 s, 83.1 MB/s

Considering that this hub can be had for about fifteen bucks with proper shopping, it's a great deal.

1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't work out of the box!!!

Pros: price point

Cons: Doesn't work....right out of the box. Was a total waste of time. The website doesn't allow me to open or download the manuals and the one that came with it was completely useless. Heck, I couldn't even copy cut and past the support email so I could send them an email.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy from a company that sells cheap products, doesn't allow its manuals on the products to be accessible, and apparently has something to hide!!!

2 out of 5 eggsFrequent Disconnects

Pros: Fast USB 3.0 hub that is powerful enough for even portable external hard drives. Great for transferring files to a US 3.0 flash drive or external hard drive.

Cons: There are frequent disconnects. I don't know if it's because the power cable does not fit correctly or if the USB cord connecting it to the PC does not fit correctly. Both cables are pretty loose on the hub end. I tried plugging in a Logitech wireless USB, but the connection flickers in-and-out. I have a better connection with another USB 3.0 hub that is further away from wireless keyboard and mouse, and this should not be the case. Very disappointing.

Other Thoughts: I wish this product worked better as it is at a great price point. However, with the shoddy quality of connection for my wireless mouse and keyboard, I cannot recommend this product at this point in time.

5 out of 5 eggs4-port hub

Pros: I love it. Very compact works exactly as advertised. I purchased this device to add more USB 3.0 ports to my macbook pro retina and it works flawlessly. I love the small footprint it leaves on my desk and the fact that is just works straight out of the box no issues at all.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I love that it also comes with a velcro attachment so you can mount the device pretty much anywhere you want. I will be using this to mount the SSD in my tower but a great touch by HooToo

4 out of 5 eggsHT-UH005 2.3 FEET USB 3.0 Cable

Pros: This product is a great buy and works well with Windows 8 PCI Express card USB 3.0 plug and play.

Cons: The cable sent with the hub is generally too short and didn't work with my set up also my WD HDD external drives were not recognized in my computer after connecting the hub to the USB 3.0 PCI express card and both WD HDD to the hub

Other Thoughts: HT-UH005. In regards to using the hub I am using Windows 8 X64 and connected the hub to my USB 3.0 PCI express card at the back of my tower after connecting my WD HDD to the hub using their 2.3 feet cable I noticed that there was a flash of blue screen and my computer did not recognized the HDD. I disconnected the 2.3 feet cable from the hub and I had a spare 4 feet WD USB 3.0 cable that I plugged into the hub and connected this to my UB 3.0 PCI express card at the tower and it came alive my computer now recognizes the WD HDD external drive and all works well when the power cable is connected to the hub. The only thing I noticed is that my computer does not shut down completely and so I use the sleep mode of my computer which works well with the hub to allow my external drives that are connected to the hub to maintain sleep mode until needed. Please advise if this action is a normal function for my computer when my drives are connected to the hub and the hub is connected to my PCI express card? I have ordered the 3.3 feet cable that is used with the 7 port hub in order to test the uniformity and see if this works and corrects any compatibility issues however things are working please advise. Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsLove the compact size!

Pros: The hub works as expected for all of my devices. I attached the hub to the lid of my netbook with the vecro that came with it. So far the hub works as described.

Cons: None so far
