Experience a New Level of Clarity with 4K Ultra High Definition

Discover Realistic UHD Picture Quality

With resolution that's four times higher than Full HD, this ultra high-definition (UHD) monitor delivers stunning images that use a staggering 8 million pixels for unparalleled realism. Enjoy the latest 4K content with incredible lifelike detail that makes you feel like you're actually there.

Superior Picture Quality

Featuring a response time of 1 millisecond, this UHD monitor can easily handle all the excitement of action movies, games, and sports. It lets you experience fast on-screen motion clearly and smoothly without any blur, judder, or ghosting. So you can enjoy a completely immersive viewing experience.

Experience More than 1 Billion Colors

This UHD monitor gives you 64 times more color than conventional monitors - an incredible 1 billion colors. That means that movies, games, and other multimedia content appear detailed, natural looking, and extremely realistic. More colors also ensure a smoother transition between different tones for a richer, more accurate picture.

Sharper Content with UHD Upscaling

Samsung Upscale Technology enhances the image quality no matter what the original picture quality was. Magic Upscale prevents image degradation when scaling up and gives only the most brilliant and pristine colors and images.

Easy Multitasking with PIP 2.0

With Picture-in-Picture (PIP) 2.0 technology, you can watch your favorite movie or video in one window while simultaneously working on a spreadsheet. PIP 2.0 maintains the source's original resolution - up to Full HD - so you enjoy a crisp, clear picture. You can also adjust the size and position of the PIP window to fit your needs.

Picture-by-Picture Technology

Picture-by-Picture helps you take full advantage of your UHD monitor. Connect two computers to your monitor and view both desktops on one split screen while maintaining each screen's resolution. This means you can plug in your laptop and your desktop and use both easily at once without needing to check different monitors.

Enhanced Gaming Experience

Optimize your gaming experience with the touch of a button. Game Mode detects changes in scenes, enhances colors, and adjusts contrast so you see everything clearly. Thanks to ultra-fast video response, you always keep up with the action.

Connectivity for UHD-compatible Devices

You can connect multiple Ultra HD devices, like PCs and gaming consoles, to the UD590D. There are two HDMI inputs as well as one Display Port input on the back panel

2 out of 5 eggsEight Million Pixels and Little Else

Pros: * 8,294,400 pixels all present and accounted for

Cons: * No control over contrast
* Colors washed out
* No VESA Mount
* Flimsy stand

Other Thoughts: As other reviewers have stated, this is an unimpressive monitor. Attempts to adjust contrast have been fruitless. The monitor comes out of the box with washed out colors and nothing can be done about it. The most surprising disappointment, as other reviewers have noted, is the lack of mounting holes on the back of this unit. There is no way to mount this on a VESA compliant monitor support. It comes with a flimsy stand, and you're stuck with that.

3 out of 5 eggslots of pixels, but could be better

Pros: It's a 4k, 3840x2160 display which has 4x the pixel count of 1080p. It's large and offers a ton of real-estate.

picture-in-picture can be useful if you have another computer near by.

TRS connector for headphones in the back.

Cons: - The stand makes this thing wobble really bad. It's a joke. really, i thought about making a stand for it. if your desk shakes even a little, it will teeter back and forth (and side to side).

- High pixel count isn't the same as high quality pixels. Samsung disappointed me big time on this. It's a run-of-the-mill panel. My 2 year old laptop screen seems to have better image quality. I know Samsung can make MUCH better panel's than this.

- black screens aren't really the great and are blotchy grey. contrast isn't that great either

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't a 4k, because i love the space, I'd want my money back. It's expensive and cheap (cheaply made, cheap panel) all at the same time. Samsung makes much better panels than this and i'm so mad.

- and HDMI 2 is out, but this doesn't have, which isn't a problem, but with HMDI 1.4, you need 2 cables to get the real deal 3840x2160 @ 60hz. I'm not entirely sure you can do that on this monitor. it has a side-by-side source but i think the primary gets overlapped by the secondary. not tested.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Brilliant Display, makes my face melt in 4k games. After adjusting the color range is phenomenal. The sharpness of the textures is unreal. No dead pixels that I can tell, I do not even know if its possible to notice a single pixel.

Cons: Colors on factory settings seemed to be very out of whack. Example 80-100% red were all identical.

Out of box brightness was so high I got a tan from the screen, and my retinas hurt.

Makes 1080p monitors almost unusable.

Other Thoughts: I wish windows had a way to render the desktop and browsers one resolution and games in another resolution. Desktop icons are extremely small, no fault of the monitor though.

The display area seems to have curved edges, though from the proper viewing angle they look straight. I am not sure there is a way to adjust it.

Newegg's website looks hilariously small on this monitor with no zoom.

2 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect monitor

Pros: - Brighter than most TN type panels
- Slightly better color than most TN panels

- No Gsync
- Flimsy stand

Other Thoughts: I would have given this monitor 5 stars IF IT WOULD ONLY SUPPORT VESA MOUNTING. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Samsung completely ignores standard wall and stand mount brackets. It would be great if they just supplied an adapter bracket or something that would allow for VESA mount compatibility, but such thing! I was hoping to use 6 of these displays in a simulator that we're building for a customer. Now I have to find another inferior unit that supports the VESA mounts.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Picture Quality is great
- The monitors look very clean on my desk/nice design

Cons: - Very flimsy stand
- No wall mount support (not that i needed that)
- I have two of them and they do not line up perfect. The metal clip/tab in the bottom of the monitor that connects to the base needs to be bent on one of them. Its only off a small amount (not enough to bother me) but if your OCD, it would be an issue.
- Not a huge fan of the 1 button on the back that works as a d-pad to control everything. I mean it works, but I just worry that it feels a bit flimsy and could break over time leaving me with nothing as its the only button.

Other Thoughts: My cons far exceed my pros, but dont take that the wrong way. I LOVE these things as im running two of them on a dual monitor setup. There isnt much to say about the goods other than it works and it looks great. Thats all you really need. The cons really arent that big of a deal, just wanted to point out the things I didnt like. I would definitely recommend.

1 out of 5 eggsNO VESA Compatibility

Pros: N/A

Cons: Never even plugged it in... How in today’s age a monitor does not have VESA Compatibility mount points I'm not sure.

Other Thoughts: I have the 50” TV/Monitor UHD Samsung that came with mounts points and looks very nice.

1 out of 5 eggsat 1 month - had enough of this thing

Pros: 4K resolution. the stand is OK - not as bad as some report but it does need a bit more adjustment range.

Cons: After only 30 days, this monitor has the same color and color correction of a 5 year old Lenovo at my office. The LED backlignt is more yellow every day. Contrast is terrrible. There is no white or black. Pale yellow or dark gray is the span of adjustment available. I purchased this thing on 28 Feb and delayed too long to return. Monitor was manufactured on May 2014. It was 10 months old when shipped.

Other Thoughts: Wait for a real Korean Samsung panel with the color quality available on a Samsung 4K televisions - don't by this cheap Tianjin made economy special.

4 out of 5 eggsBad Stand

Pros: *Screen is beautiful
*Cheap for a 4K monitor
*Comes with Displayport Cable

Cons: I unfortunately only had it for less then an hour.......... I received the monitor on March 25 and had to RMA back the same day. I put the monitor together and first thing i noticed was that the monitor was crooked.......the left side of the screen was facing more outwards than the right . Ok not really a problem there i can just position it just that you would be able to tell cause the stand would not be symmetrical. But the biggest problem was that the left side also was crooked that it was higher than the left side lol. So not only was it crooked facing me but also crooked left and right. There is not i could of done to really adjust for the way the stand is. Maybe i was just unlucky and got one with a bad stand.

Other Thoughts: Newegg super fast with RMA so im expecting my replacement monitor sometime this week. Cross fingers hope this one comes with a good stand lol

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price, great performance

Pros: Price, when I bought this it was (maybe still is) on sale for 550. For what you're getting, that is an absolute steal. It's full 4k, none of that somewhere-between-1080p-and-2160p stuff. There is not a single dead or bright pixel. Even if there was, it would be exceedingly hard to tell since the pixels are so small, especially for a 28" screen.

Cons: I wouldn't call this a con, but i would love it if the refresh rate was higher than 60hz, but with this generation of graphics cards, most games are going to top out around 60fps anyway. Unless you have some high end cards in SLI or Crossfire... but not all games support those, and not all that do, do it well.

also, not much of a con, but not all applications are optimized for 4k, which leads to some REALLY tiny text.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely buy again. Playing modern games at 4k with ultra settings is a face melting experience. Console gamers don't know what they're missing.... (even if it is super expensive for high end gaming)

5 out of 5 eggs4K = WORTH IT!

Pros: I cannot start to explain to you how amazing gaming on 4k is... but let me try. After playing Arma 3, Farcry 4, Shadow of Mordor, Crysis 3, Metro: Last Light, and Tomb Raider all in 4k there is only one word that comes to mind. BEAUTIFUL! it is ridiculous how amazing the difference is going from 1080p. I kept switching the resolution while in game from 4k to 1080p and back, this is how I explain my experience..."I was playing on this?!?!". I have one sentence of advice for whoever may be looking at this.

IF 4K IS EVEN REMOTELY A POSSIBILITY FOR YOU TO BUY, DO IT! Spend more on this monitor and reap the awesomeness

I would have paid double this price now that I know how great this monitor is!

Now you do need a pretty powerful PC to take full advantage of this monitor. 4k on ultra graphics. here is my pc setup to help guide you on if you can run this.

Processor: Intel i7 4790k 4th gen (water cooled and OC'd to 4.5ghz)
Graphics: 2 x Asus Strix GTX 970 in two way SLI (OC'd to 1400mhz

I run everything at 4k resolution and with max graphics, when everything is not overclocked I get around 40fps and a much colder system. with overclocks active it pushes out the max fps of the monitor which is 60fps and every once in a while dipping to 40-50 for a couple seconds. Keep in mind that if you are overclocking your system becomes MUCH hotter, I had to actually change my tower to a full tower to increase the airflow within my case, works great now but pumps out a lot of hot air.

Cons: now as you can see I still gave this a 5 egg rating, however there are a few things that happen that I just get past. The blacks aren't as black as my other monitors (2x asus 27' 1080p) and when you have a dark scene, which happens a lot in games, there is a bit of light leaking up into the darkness from the bezel. This is hard to explain but easy to get past.
