Pros: Excellent coverage, Droid app integration is seamless!

Pros: Connects to your smartphone to the companion app. This lets the phone and the radar detector work together, so if someone else has one of these and reports a cop, you will know long before the detector even picks it up.

Speaking of that, this thing has a very good detection rate. I frequently get a weak detection almost a mile away from the police car down the road, so I have plenty of time to slow down and see where he is. An important thing for people to remember is that cops don't just leave their radar on all the time. This is NOT a cop detector. It is a RADAR detector.

Your phone can help the radar detector know about false alarms. For example if you are driving past a grocery store with a DUMB Radar an automatic door opener sets of a Dumb Radar every time you pass it. With this COBRA iRADAR (in city mode) it will know that it is a false alarm since so many people pass it and report that it is a false alarm. NOTE: It appears that in highway it will go off every time, which makes sense for highway mode.

It alerts you to speed traps too if you want, although I find that those are usually old information.

I like how this radar detector uses both tones and speech to convey how weak/strong the signal is by how fast the beeps are. It beeps in different patterns when it is laser or K, Ka, X and so on. For example if it detects a radar band that is ONLY used by cops, it will beep a crazier pattern to let you know there is no chance it is a false alarm and that you should slow down ASAP. The voice is very easy to understand and is loud enough to hear over the sound of a car stereo.

From a nerd perspective, they are still updating the app to make it better, which is nice. Some companies just make a product and don't want to improve it once we buy it. Cobra does, so kudos to them.

In my opinion, even if you don't have your phone connected to it, it will still do it's job. It will still beep and use the speech to tell you what kind of radar it is, and beep faster when the radar is closer. I think that even without a smartphone, I would get this radar because it still works very well even without the extra features.

Cons: FRAGILE POWER CONNECTOR!!!!

I somehow managed to break the cigarette lighter part of the power cable because it was made out of such cheap plastic! I actually had to go on e bay and get a replacement cable that would fit. So now I don't have the USB power part of the power cable anymore so I have to use a splitter to power my phone's car dock and the radar detector. Note: Not the part that plugs into the radar but the part that plugs into the car was the weak part.

Do not unplug it very often, moving this between cars you might risk breaking it like I did.

Pros: I CAN USE MY PHONE TO SEE SPEED TRAPS, I CAN CHANGE ALL THE SETTING THROUGH MY PHONE AS WHILE. BY THE WAY I HAVE AN ANDROID SO YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE APP IN ORDER TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES.
