1 out of 5 eggsProne to break

Pros: on-unit menus are great for when you're not using it for video. on-unit menu is also easy to use. Can't speak for on-screen menu I've never used it.

Cons: Within 6 months the unit just decided to turn itself off with blinking red light every exactly 2 seconds. Searching the internet shows forums with people trying to help with this issue but is completely ignorant of the fact that there are two types of blinking. Mine identifies a supposed humidity breach. Not sure how this can be since the humidity at the time was 15%. it gets between 9 and 15% during the winter and climbing a bit in the spring. Anything below 12% becomes physically painful if exposed to it for long periods of time. This morning it was 25%. It can't possibly be sensing too much humidity.

After finding no help on the internet, I decided to give the unit a complete reset. This worked for a day, then it turned itself off again and now complete unit resets don't fix it anymore. I've tried different outlets, unplugging everything in the back, nothing works. I even opened the unit to see if spiders were making webs.. nope.

Denon needs to make their products capable of withstanding the rigors of sitting on a shelf and getting used a few hours every weekend. If it cannot do this, then I need to find another brand. Implementing features that are more prone to break than the humidity issues are capable of breaking it is not a smart idea. This is obviously a false-positive since there are no humidity issues in my apartment. This feature is a waste of money and Denon's own resources in developing this kind of ridiculous alarm. I know humidity might be capable of ruining a unit but it's not like I have a mistifier spraying it. A warning light that i can investigate would've been more practical since I'd still be able to use it if i can identify it as a false-positive.

I will be calling Denon to see what my options are, but if it involves shipping then forget it. It's heavy and big, and I'd rather spend the money getting a Yamaha.

Other Thoughts: This is the unit i use for my PC because PC speaker systems are just horrible now-a-days. Can't stand 'em.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product until...

Pros: crapped out. Apparently I had blown the circuit after owning it for 4 months. Not sure if it was defectivve (most likely) or something I had done(kept in great condition and know a bit about home theater and wiring).

Support was great, just had to send it back with original receipt. They fixed it within a day or two and sent it back. It's only been a day, so I'm not sure how this model stands up. Maybe it's a one time thing, or maybe it's a a bad model. I do think it should be fine.

As for the unti itself: Great! This is a great amp/receiver for entry-level/moderate home theater users. Denon is a great company. Multiple HDMI ports is great, sound quality is superb.

Cons: User interface is pretty "bleh" along with the inetenr features like Pandora. However, that's why you use your Ipod, or a Blu-Ray player for internet features.

4 out of 5 eggsFast shipping, BAD customer support

Pros: -I ordered during the weekend and it arrived by Monday morning! fast shipping!
-The item arrived in pristine condition.

Cons: -Customer support is very bad, I had to call at least 4 times just to get a previous order to be canceled due to the outdated shipping address.
-I think two of them were just placed there to just route some customer from the real support team. One of which even said that he has no way to cancel the order? and was just rude. -1 egg
