1 out of 5 eggsDenon Quality has gone down hill

Pros: NONE!

Cons: Died right after the two year mark!

Other Thoughts: I bought the DENON AVR 1312 here and was very happy with it, well until it stopped working just over the two year mark.
I used for no more then two hours a day and it couldn't hold up soooo disappointing as I have never had a receiver die and have several of other brands that I gave away and are still working 15 years later!
Called customer service who was nice, but unresponsive to this complete failure of a product that should have lasted at least 5-8 years.
Demon quality has gone waaaay down hill!

5 out of 5 eggsNice REceiver for the moeny

Pros: Very easy set up (volume seemed to be at zero out of the box so make sure you turn it up before you going checking to see if you messed up on the connections)

Pros: Nice unit, it performs well. I researched for something that would accommodate some of the new features receivers currently offer without being priced out of my budget. There are a lot of features but the videos and printed instructions are helpful in learning them. This unit requires a powered subwoofer, FYI.Overall I am very pleased with it.

Cons: My only real con is not knowing which cables and kinds of speakers would be required. I couldn't just take it out of the box and set it up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Receiver value

Pros: Easy set up, very good sound, plenty of power, tremendous value

Cons: Needs to have powered subwoofer

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit to replace an all in one DVD/Surround player as an upgrade. I have Yamaha 3 ways built into as my front and rear and a free standing center and sub. As soon as I set this up, I noticed an immediate improvement in the quality of sound from my previous system. The only issue I encountered was my old subwoofer wouldn't work on the Denon as it needs a powered subwoofer. Gave me an excuse to get something nicer and I added a Pioneer S-W-8K which sounds awesome- glad I made the upgrade as I now have plenty of bass and movies sound better than ever. I did a lot of research on A/V receivers and am glad I picked this one. I could have spent 2-3 times the money and not been any more pleased. Don't overlook this because it's a lower priced unit- it's absolutely everything I need and way more than I expected. Shipping was quick and NewEgg has become my new favorite online seller.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Receiver

Pros: Great sound when matched up with good speakers (Klipsch and Polk in my case). Very good quality for the price if you get it on sale. Has 3 HDMI in on the back for passthrough and one on the front. Uses discrete circuitry for better sound quality and less distortion.

Cons: If your not an audiophile who is up on all the latest terminology and all the different surround standards, you may have a little trouble setting it up. The settings are somewhat technical for non-experts. One other thing is I have to turn it up to over 60% volume to get anything out of it. At 40% volume or below it is virtually inaudible.

Other Thoughts: This model does not have the setup wizard. Tuning everything is a challenge for average users without the wizard.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work properly out of the box!

Pros: For the price I paid, it seemed like a great deal, 4 HDMI in and 165 watts per channel.

Cons: Didn't work! Wouldn't pick up audio or video from my cable box, and sound kept cutting out every 5 seconds using my Blu-ray player as a source. Was this why they were selling them so cheap? Denon tech help was arrogant and useless.

Other Thoughts: I was really looking forward to replacing my 12 year old Pioneer receiver with this Denon, but this receiver wouldn't handle any input source reliably...Disappointed!
