Total Purity Concept for the Finest Sound Quality

The Total Purity Concept, which Yamaha has been cultivating for many years, encompasses high drive-amp technology, high purity pre-amplification, and anti-vibration technology. All models have a fully discrete power amplifier that helps to minimize distortion. They also adopt independent pure power supplies, employing dedicated power supplies to prevent digital noise from affecting analog circuitry. The anti-vibration heatsinks are designed to suppress vibration from transistors and sound pressure. Independent power supplies for the DACs are designed to further eliminate noise on certain models. Down to every detail, these AV receivers are designed with full emphasis on the highest possible sound quality.

Extensive Audio Codec and Format Support

This AV receiver is compatible with many audio formats such as Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™. They are also compatible with FLAC/WAV 192kHz playback. Enjoy excellent sound quality from Blu-ray™ and other types of high resolution sources.

Intelligent Amp Assign

Intelligent Amp Assign automatically assigns amplifier channels to certain speakers depending on what functions are selected. For example, in a 7.1-channel system, when Zone 2 is off, all 7.1 channels will be used in the Main Zone. However, when Zone 2 is on, power to the two surround back-channels will be directed to the two speakers in Zone 2 and the Main Zone will receive 5.1 channels of power. Similarly, when CINEMA DSP 3D is on, the two front presence speakers will be powered and not the two surround back speakers. When CINEMA DSP 3D is off, this situation is reversed. Thanks to Intelligent Amp Assign, there's no need to switch the speaker cables on the rear of the receiver – one more way Yamaha makes your life a little easier.

4K Pass-through and Upscaling Supports Latest High Resolution Video Formats

This AV receiver's HDMI input/output supports 4K video image pass-through. It can also perform 4K upscaling to boost a lower resolution image to super high-def resolution. This ensures compatibility with the latest super high resolution video formats.

HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel

3D means the receiver can handle 3-dimensional signal data. The Audio Return Channel function enables data to be sent and received via the same HDMI cable so you can hear the sound from the TV via a single HDMI cable with no need for an extra optical cable.

High Quality Video Processing with Edge Adaptive Deinterlacing

In ordinary deinterlacing, pixels in areas of movement are interpolated by upper and lower ranges. This causes jaggies in diagonal lines. Edge adaptive deinterlacing detects the direction of the line and interpolates the pixels optimally.

SCENE for One-touch Start

Pressing a SCENE button powers on the AV receiver and selects the input source and DSP mode. You can reset the buttons for different sources by selecting a source and DSP mode, then pressing a SCENE button for more than three seconds.

HDMI CEC for Easy Operation

Another benefit of HDMI is the availability of CEC functionality. When the unit is connected to a CEC compatible TV, it will turn on and off together with the TV; plus, you can use the TV remote to control the volume. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. For example, you can use the receiver's remote unit to control player functions like Skip and Stop.

*All connected devices must be HDMI CEC compatible. Some CEC compatible TVs/players may not work.

AirPlay Allows Streaming Music to AV Receiver

This AV receiver supports AirPlay, which means they can accept wireless music streaming from an iPod® touch, iPhone® or iPad®, as well as from iTunes on Macs or PCs. This makes it easy to enjoy music from your mobile devices or computers on your home theater system. View metadata such as song title and artist name as well as album art* via the on-screen display.

*Some models don't support album art display.

AV Controller App for Easy, Convenient Operation

This AV receiver lets you use the Yamaha AV Controller app that is downloadable from the iTunes App Store or Google Play to control power on/off and volume, select input and DSP modes, and operate other functions from an iPhone® or Android device. You'll also find as many as 23* different languages and a customizable interface for hiding unused icons and renaming functions. A tablet version is also available.

*As of Spring 2013.

Network Functions

This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. You can connect the receiver to a PC to enjoy Internet radio, Pandora®, and Rhapsody®, and operate your system via WebBrowser Control. The AV Controller app (from iTunes App Store or Google Play) lets you control various functions from your iPod®, iPhone®, iPad® or Android devices.

MHL® (Mobile High-Definition Link) Support for High Quality Video and Audio

MHL provides easy, direct connection of compatible mobile phones and this AV receiver. Playback of up to 1080p video and multi-channel audio from the phones is supported. The receiver also charges the connected phone. Play, Stop and other basic operations can be controlled from the remote control.

USB Digital Connection for iPod®, iPhone® and iPad® on the Front Panel

A USB port on the front panel allows convenient connection of an iPod/iPhone/iPad, which also charges when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod/iPhone/iPad is transmitted directly to the AV receiver, there is no signal loss or interference, so you enjoy the best possible sound quality. In addition, you can use the receiver’s remote control unit to operate the iPod/iPhone/iPad music playback functions.

Advanced Multi-language GUI On-screen Display

Yamaha's latest graphical user interface has a high resolution display with clear, easy-to-use menus and also includes a selectable status bar that shows input source, volume level, DSP mode and audio format. The GUI provides a choice of eight languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese and Chinese, and can be displayed over both normal and 3D pictures.

YPAO-R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) Sound Optimization

YPAO-R.S.C. analyzes room acoustics and measures various speaker characteristics, then calibrates audio parameters to achieve optimum sound. It employs Reflected Sound Control to correct early reflections for studio-quality sound. It also provides DSP Effect Normalization, which varies the CINEMA DSP parameters according to the reflected sounds.

HDMI Front Panel Input

In addition to the large number of HDMI inputs on the rear panel, there is also one on the front panel. This gives you a convenient way to quickly plug in a digital camera or camcorder for highest quality pictures.

Input Selection in HDMI Standby Through Mode

When the AV receiver is in HDMI Standby Through mode, the input source on the monitor (Blu-ray Disc™ player, game console, etc.) can be changed via the remote control. There's no need to turn on the AV receiver in order to switch sources.

HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D and Virtual Presence Speaker

CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers.

Compressed Music Enhancer

When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.

Dialogue Lift and Dialogue Level Adjustment for Natural Dialogue and Vocals

Dialogue Lift raises the sound of dialogue from the center speaker to a position in the center of the screen. Newly developed virtual dialogue lift achieves dialogue lift function even without the need for presence speakers. Dialogue Level Adjustment lets you control the volume of the vocal sound, so you hear movie dialogue and music vocals at the ideal level for clear, comfortable listening.

Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

Adaptive DRC automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume level. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels. There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen - everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you don't want to disturb others.

New Virtual CINEMA DSP for 7.1-channel Surround Sound

New Virtual CINEMA DSP provides virtual 7.1-channel surround sound from only front speakers (2.1-channel), with no need for rear speakers. Using new 24 kHz HRTF (Head-related Transfer Function) technology, it creates a rear sound field that is extremely spacious, natural and powerful.

Subwoofer Trim for Improved Sound Imaging

The Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is “pushed” toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim Control takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.

ECO Mode Lowers Power Consumption by 20 Percent*

Yamaha’s new ECO mode reduces power consumption by about 20 percent. It can be set from the top of the GUI menu.

*Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).

Selectable Auto Power Down

Auto Power Down lets you save energy by selecting to turn off the power after two, four, eight or 12 hours.

Low Standby Power Consumption

Yamaha makes its receivers eco-friendly with a low standby power consumption of 0.1W in IR Standby mode (3W in HDMI Standby Through mode, 3W in Network Standby mode).

Connection for YWA-10 Wi-Fi Adapter

This AV receiver provides a DC-out connection for the YWA-10 Wi-Fi adapter (optional accessory). This lets you stream music wirelessly via a router from network components such as a PC or NAS.

Connection for YBA-11 Bluetooth® Wireless Adapter

This AV receiver provides a DC-out connection for the YBA-11 Bluetooth wireless adapter (optional accessory). Stream music wirelessly from a Bluetooth-capable smartphone, tablet or PC without a Wi-Fi environment.

4 out of 5 eggsDies when you plug in USB

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: Amazing sound quality & Clear HDMI signal

Cons: USB will put the device into "protection mode". This will not allow it to start it back up. When in protection mode you will have to return it or try accessing it by unplugging everything for one hour and then attempting to turn back on.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a great device and I love it. As of 4/13/14, it's currently out of stock, so I will have to wait to return my dead device, but it's a 4/5 in my book.

3 out of 5 eggsGood product but with no standby passthrough.

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: Specifications looks great, great support for multiple audio formats, great price advantage.

Cons: Haven't had much time to play with the unit because it lacks HDMI passthrough in standby mode. This was not mentioned anywhere in the specification and this was a real deal breaker for me. I didn't want the unit to be ON every time I watch something. RMA-ed.

Taking the stars off because of Newegg's return policy. Will consider buying alternatives next time.

5 out of 5 eggsNice lower end receiver.

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: Lower price.

Great sound and power for the price.

Large number of inputs for various equipment, unlike some receivers in this price range. I needed something with some analog audio inputs and this receiver has a number of them along with the multiple digital (audio and video)inputs.

The various audio inputs can be re-assigned to the HDMI inputs if you have video only on the HDMI or would otherwise need to do so.

Very nice auto-calibration routine. It sets it up for the best performance.

Cons: Not many cons. One I can think of is that it has no indication when it is in Dolby Digital or DTS mode. The only way you can tell is to put it in straight stereo mode then you can see it change over to multi-channel mode when it receives the input. My last receiver had an overly bright light that would come on when it was receiving digital input. I would have also liked if it had a digital audio out (s/pdif or optical) for my HTPC, but that's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a very nice receiver in this price range. Most of the other top brand receivers that have an entry at this price offer you a lot less. I think this one has a lot of bang for the buck.

5 out of 5 eggsYamaha RX-V375

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: - MP3 enhancer works well
- Easy to setup
- Good power and sound

Cons: can't think of any

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace my 12 year old Sony Receiver.
Have 2 different computers connected via HDMI and out to my HDTV. HDMI out looks good, no degradation of quality. I mostly just use the cinema sound setting with the MP3 enhancer on. This is a good value for under $ 200 dollars.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 24 hours

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: For the first 24 hours it worked very well. Sound was very good. Ease of use was very good.

Cons: HDMI pass through stopped working after 24 hours.

Other Thoughts: It now costs me about 20 percent of the purchase price to return it for a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsYamaha Quality Reasonable Price

This review is from: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver

Pros: Bought the Yamaha RX-V375 Receiver to replace outdated Yamaha equipment bought more than 20 years ago that still performs like new. Conducted extensive research to find a high quality unit with the features and functions that would satisfy my needs and budget and arrived at the RX-V375 or RX-V475. Since I have Apple TV installed on my TV, the RX-V375 was a great solution for my needs at a good price. Since I really like Yamaha equipment based on previous experience, I was confident that this was a good decision.

So far, very satisfied with the purchase, setup, performance, and capabilities of the receiver. Setup was easy, instructions were clear, used the included calibration Mic and the audio through my Bose speakers is fantastic. HDMI cables make the hook-up really easy and the TV picture quality is excellent.

Apple TV is also connected to the receiver and provides wireless access to my PC for music and photo slide shows. This connection also allows streaming of movies from Netflix, Hulu, and a whole list of options available through Itunes.

Also, Newegg had a special where they included two Pioneer speakers with the purchase of the RX-V375, so it became an offer I could not refuse.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is my go to site for electronics. Prices are reasonable, delivery is prompt and I have never been disappointed with a purchase.

Pros: Easy to setup,I am using the RX-V375 with a Def Tech CS8040HD center and Def Tech BP8B's up front with Mytho's Gems for rear surrounds, with a Yamaha YSW216 Sub and it sounds great right out of the box, Packs a lot of punch for the money,
