The LG CH12LS28 Blu-ray Combo drive allows you to watch the latest 3D Blu-ray blockbusters or burn DVD media to backup and protect your data. It is also a great solution for precious and important data with support of M-Disc, a breakthrough media that keeps burned data much longer than conventional recordable disc based on organic dye. Advanced technologies such as Silent Play and Jamless Play ensure you a great experience with smooth, noiseless playback of movies.

  • newegg EXPERIENCE 3D BLU-RAY Take entertainment to the next level with 3D using the new Power BD-DVD 3D Software bundle. With 2D to 3D converting feature, you can bring new dimensions to all your videos.
  • newegg LIGHTSCRIBE DISC LABELING LightScribe allows you to create customized labels that are etched onto a special coated LightScribe disc (sold separately).
  • newegg SUPERIOR DATA PROTECTION WITH M-DISC SUPPORT The M-DISC uses a unique rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. The M-DISC has been tested and proven to outlast standard DVDs currently on the market.
  • newegg PLAY IN PEACE As a disc is being read, Silent Play technology automatically controls the disc read speed for optimal noise reduction.
  • newegg NONSTOP PLAYABILITY Jamless Play automatically prevents stop video playback in case of damaged disc, such as scratches or fingerprints by jumping through the erroneous data or damaged areas.
  • newegg SATA Serial ATA is a 1.5Gbps evolutionary replacement for the Parallel ATA physical storage interface used to connect storage devices, such as hard disks, DVD and CD rewriters to the PC motherboard. Serial ATA is scalable, enables design of smaller PCs, and will allow future enhancements to the computing platform.

2 out of 5 eggsHave to force eject

Pros: It plays BluRay with playback software.

Cons: When it was JUST out of warranty it stopped ejecting. I have to use a paperclip just to insert or retrieve my discs.

Other Thoughts: No wonder it's no longer available. I think I'll replace it with an ASUS.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly had Blu-Ray drive - nothing else

Pros: The Blu-Ray drive works - it's silent and can read blu-ray disks, DVD, and CD - but so other blu-ray drives from other manufacturers.

Cons: No software, no screws, no cables - nothing but the drive. Terrible Customer Support service.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, I first bought an OEM blu-ray drive but then discovered that there is no free blu-ray player so I can watch blu-ray movies on my PC - so I bought this LG blu-ray drive for my PC - which on the box says it comes with a CD that has software - Power2Go, Power Producer, Media Show, Powere DVD 3 BD (bluray) Edition, Power Back-up, and LabelPrint. The drive did not come with NO SOFTWARE - which is what I bought the drive for. So I called LG's Customer Service line, to see about getting the software that I PAID FOR and after more than 30 minutes of waiting for the Customer Service, the rep started telling me that LG DOES NOTput software with their drives, despite what is on the box and then he started giving instructions on how to download open source DVD player VLC player and said it runs blu-ray disks - and I told I did this already when I had an OEM blu-ray drive.
LG makes nice products but the support is not there and LG puts out false advertising on the boxes of their products - will never buy from this manufacturer again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Quality and Price

Pros: The Pricing and Quality of the Blu-ray lightscribe drive is very good. It comes with software to install and If you have not read the description well it comes with a SATA cable to install it on the board.

Cons: The software that comes with it works but is difficult to use and get used to. I'm not sure if it is the blu-ray that I tried or the entire software suite but it would not allow me to use the mouse as a remote, I was forced to use an in software "remote." The lightscribe software included in the suite, to my knowledge, won't let you burn a lightscribe disc. I was forced to download additional software to burn a lightscribe disc.

Other Thoughts: This is a great drive if you want to have a good quality picture and at a decent price. The software leaves much to be desired, but you win some you lose some.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: It has a nice sleek design. Comes with a firmware updater tool, so no need to check the site. Comes with some cyberlink software. Plus the silver and blue looks real nice in my cooler Master Elite case. The Sata Cable is plenty long enough to fit most Full towers cases.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't work

Pros: zero, nada, niet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: Worse piece of equipment I've ever purchased from newegg! Will not -play & or record any Blu-ray disk & only plays a dvd occasionally. Put in brand new MSI-FM2 build with new APU 5300, won't recognize APU/GPU calls it a virtual drive & won't recognize win/8 and LG site says to find appropriate driver, which they do not offer and there is no other support than their statement. Downloaded all new AMD drivers and it still does not work. Very dissatisfied/ Rx-Don't buy.

Other Thoughts: I will try to RMA, but don't have much time, as I've got to work to!

5 out of 5 eggsCyberlink PowerDvd 10

Pros: I don't own this drive but I have Cyberlink PowerDvd 10 on my HTPC and it does work with HDMI playing Blu-Ray. I have a Lite-On drive and have used it with my old 39" Vizio, 42" Panasonic and 55" Samsung to play Blu-Rays.

Cons: People blaming products for their inability to setup or use a product and yet claim high technology knowledge

Other Thoughts: Not a fan of LG but I also have limited hands on knowledge of them
