3 out of 5 eggsPlantronics GameCom 780

Pros: Decent sound, good microphone quality

Cons: Extremely uncomfortable after a few hours of use. I keep a pair of earbuds nearby that I use when I'm not talking to someone because wearing this headset for extended periods of time can be extremely irritating and painful. I would not recommend this headset to anyone that has to wear glasses.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this headset from a different retailer over a year ago around Christmas. While my headset is still in one piece, many of my friend's identical headsets have broken due to the plastic being too thin.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset at an Amazing Price

Pros: Outstanding sound quality. Very durable despite some reviews (I have dropped it many times and it continues to function perfectly). Still very comfortable after a year of use.

Cons: The cord is somewhat short, but that's nothing a USB extension cable can't solve.

4 out of 5 eggsA Solid Product

Pros: This pair of headphones lasted me a little over a year. It does come with a few flaws, but with proper care, it could last you a long time.

+Great sound quality
+Button on the side to turn on 7.1 surround sound (which sounds amazing in games, especially in FPS)
+Great price for value
+Very very comfortable, nice squishy ear cushions that are made from a type of cloth instead of rubber or plastic so it doesn't stick to your head after a while of use
+Cord is very strong and I love the red color

Cons: Now, it does have some flaws. Like I said, with proper care and use of the headset like putting it away properly, not throwing it and stuff, it will last a while.

-The headband is made of a cheapish plastic, so it is easy to break. About 8 months of ownership, one side of the headband snapped. I glued and duct tapped it together and it lasted me another couple of months like that, but not as tight as it was before. Eventually, the other side broke and I decided to get a new pair of headphones.
-The 7.1 surround sound isn't real, it's digitized (or something like that). Windows only recognizes it as 5.1, but to me I don't really know the difference too much. Audiophiles might be disappointed at this.
-The cord is not attachable, so you need to be careful. I did say that the cord is strong but it's not as strong as steal, so be careful if it's on the ground and you accidentally run it over with your chair.

Other Thoughts: Overall, great product, it lasted me forever and it's pretty cheap. Anyone looking for a cheap but good product, choose this.

2 out of 5 eggsrealistic review

Pros: Metal extensions, sturdy: +1 egg

aesthetically cool, red accents: +1 egg

Cons: ear cups very small, clothes pins on ears after 2 hours: -2 eggs

buttons feel very delicate and cheap: -1 egg

sound quality is terrible, if you know any better: -2 eggs

Other Thoughts: The headset is "OK" for 30 minute - 1 hour sessions, but then they start to hurt quite badly, and the sound quality is truly awful. I don't like a pounding bass, but these have none, and you need at least a little bit to create a full sound. The trebs and mids are distorted with any lows at all.

4 out of 5 eggsThe Headphones

Pros: This headset has amazing 7.1 quality for the price. I would suggest this to anyone! They are cheap and they feel like they are high end.

Cons: The Ear pieces are a little small and can crush ones ear... But just folding you ears a little can fix that all together!

3 out of 5 eggsGood for Entry Level

Pros: Provides okay 7.1 emulation
VERY sturdy build quality (I slam my headset on my desk sometimes)
Built-in Mute and Volume

Cons: Decent at best sound
Awful microphone
Wire coils way too often after consistent use
Ear pads difficult to clean, torn easily
Not very comfortable
Not true 7.1

Other Thoughts: The Gamecom 780's were my first real headset for playing videogames. I'd used them consistently for about 2 years or so. After that time, I picked up both an ATH-AD700 and a JVC HARX700 w/ ModMics. The AD700 and HARX700 both blew the Gamecom headset out of the water.

The Gamecom 780 is designed for entry level gaming, and that only. Music and high level competitive play are not optimal under the 780. For the price, it's probably better to get a good quality set of headphones and get a clip on mic or a ModMic.

3 out of 5 eggsBad cord.

Pros: Good sound quality for the price, good value for money.

Cons: Terrible cord. After 1.5 years, the cord (being some silly rubbery thing) coils on itself, messing with the connection.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic sound

Pros: Okay first off this is the first time I have gone with this brand, and I will say as far as sound quality on both stereo and dolby surround sound goes it is fantastic. As soon as I plugged it in and started listening to it on stereo I knew that it was good headset for the money, especially the sale that I got it for. Now, after downloading the sound card driver and hitting the faint blue button on the left speaker turns on dolby digital and the surround sound is fantastic on this headset. I have had other virtual 7.1 headsets and this one as far as sound quality and volume definitely wins in my experience. I would take in to account there was not all pros that I have experienced with this particular headset

Cons: One of the biggest and most immediate cons for me and which basically broke the deal with these for myself was the comfort level of this headset. Now, I have a larger sized skull so I know that perhaps other people may be fine with this headset, and am not in any way trying to persuade someone from trying this great sound quality head set. Just know both myself and my wife is definitely average head size had a hard time wearing this headset. I also feel that the plastic feel cheaper than many other head sets I have fooled with at this price range. Now it does not feel overly cheap and the sound quality alone would have me buy this a second time if only the comfort was there. I wore it for a few days, and honestly it does get better but not enough to the point of not feeling a sharp pain in the ears and or jaw. I am sure that the longer worn the more well fitted it becomes. I say if you are average head size and smaller you should be alright after the initial first couple days. I say give it a chance because if the comfort is not an issue then chances are you will really love this headset.

Other Thoughts: Great sound quality, affordable, comfort may be an issue, and finally wish they would of done more with the software options and giving maybe more options to the headset.

1 out of 5 eggsSNAP GOES THE PLASTIC

Pros: Plantronics has the best sound (highs and lows)

Cons: 6 months in, SNAP goes the plastic. This happened on my GEN 1 770 also, thought they'd fix it with the 780... NOPE!!! Ridiculous

Other Thoughts: Ridiculous how easily these break! The most vital point on the headset (where pressure is applied) is not re-inforced! Horrible design.
PS - I am a huge plantronics fan - best sound out there. Burned twice by them now, you'd think I'd learn.

1 out of 5 eggsSound great, Plastic horrid

Pros: Great sound, and very comfortable headset.

Cons: I take great care of my headsets so that they will last me a long time. My last headset was a Turtlebeach and lasted me well over 4 years. So a little less than 8 months I go to put them on and SNAP! The plastic right where the headband felt meets snaps.

Other Thoughts: First time ever using anything from Plantronics and feeling very discouraged to ever look at their products again. I want quality products that will last, not break within a year.
