iRobot Roomba 770 Automatic Vacuum Cleaning Robot

The iRobot® Roomba® 770 vacuums dirt, dust and pet hair so you don't have to. Featuring Dirt Detect™ Series 2 technology and dual HEPA filters, Roomba 770 brings a concentrated, more advanced clean to your home.

iRobot Cleaning Robot
AeroVac Series™ 2 Cleaning Technology

Roomba uses a patented 3-stage cleaning process to vacuum your carpets, hardwood, tile, and laminate floors on its own, automatically adjusting to different floor surfaces as it moves through your home. Roomba 770's cleaning features include:

  • Advanced Cleaning Head: Designed with pet owners in mind, the advanced cleaning head provides an improved performance for picking up pet hair, dirt, dust and allergens.
  • AeroVac™ Series 2 Bin: Employs a powerful vacuum to vigorously pull debris and hair off brushes into the bin. The distributed air collection and clog-resistant design of the AeroVac Series 2 Bin optimizes vacuum effectiveness and dirt and hair packing efficiency.
  • Dual HEPA Air Filters: Capture dust particles as fine as 0.3 microns, limiting the recirculation of fine particles and leaving fresher, healthier air behind.

iRobot Cleaning Robot
Vacuums Under the Bed and Other Hard-to-Reach Areas

Roomba provides comprehensive cleaning coverage using iAdapt® Responsive Navigation Technology. Roomba cleans more of your room, more thoroughly, making multiple passes over every section of floor to provide a comprehensive clean. Roomba even effortlessly vacuums under and around furniture and along wall edges, under bed skirts and curtains, avoids stairs, follows walls, and navigates through loose wires. The Roomba 770 includes:

  • Dirt Detect Series 2: Uses optical and acoustic sensors to find dirt and debris, performing concentrated cleaning in the dirtiest areas and ensuring the whole floor is clean.
  • Persistent Pass Cleaning Method: Employs a back and forth cleaning pattern to apply elbow grease in areas where it senses excessive dirt.

iRobot Cleaning Robot
A Better Clean, with Even Less Work for You

Roomba 770 is designed to provide a thorough clean, without barely any effort from you. At the press of "Clean," Roomba vacuums your floors, finding the dirtiest areas and then returns to the Home Base® to dock and recharge between cleanings. To make vacuuming even easier, the 770 includes:

  • Extended-Life Power Management: Roomba 770 uses sophisticated power management software to deliver up to 50% longer battery life than the Roomba 600 Series.
  • On-Board Scheduling: Preset Roomba up to seven times per week to vacuum when it's most convenient for you.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Cleans while you study or while you are away. Small enough to go under beds and furniture. Will cut down on your cleaning time.

Cons: Its not free

Other Thoughts: First time I used this robot, it filled the dirt bin all the way! I still vacuum once a week with my handheld, but I have programmed this irobot to vacuum everyday when I am not home.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work

Pros: none

Cons: Doesn't work on certain dark colors of rugs due to its cliff sensors thinking the dark colors is a drop-off.. This is not mentioned at all in any information available. It's not good to me if it can't clean the area rugs and runners. In fact, none of the models can clean them and there is no way to disable the feature even though I have a flat with no stairs.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed considering the price of this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsAstounding

Pros: Cleans better than you ever would, mostly

Cons: A bit noisy--run this only at night or when you are away

Other Thoughts: For me it works out to be the cost of a twice-a-month maid for a couple of months. I am surprised that more people do not own one. Just as you might have to move somethings out of the way for the maid, likewise you should probably pick up cables or papers off the floor that you don't want it to tangle with.

I bought this for my small office, and it really made the carpet look much better, more than I thought possible. I took it home, also, to try on hardwood floors, and it does a great job. It doesn't do inner corners very well, would be the only complaint. I wonder sometimes at its cleaning strategy, as it sometimes seems like it is going around the place randomly, but it eventually hits everything it can. Sometimes it spends too much time under beds or furniture, I think.

I am worried a bit about consumables, like how often I will have to change the brushes or filters, so I will have to see how that goes. I think the brush collects a lot of hair, but that is easier to clean out than a normal vacuum cleaner. Most of the parts seem pretty well designed, like the little black-and-white wheel that it uses to measure where it goes---- sometimes hair will trap around the axel for that, so it's easy to pop out, wipe off, and pop back in. Would be nice if it had a bigger "stomach" for the things it finds. I think the filters look like they COULD be made so that you could insert a paper filter within, but they're not. That is, on my regular vacuum, there is a filter that is made of some sort of tissue-like paper that I take out--- but on the roomba, it's two yellow box things that are made of plastic--- within those there's a bit of paper for the filter, so I think they should just let you swap out that paper but they don't.

I haven't had to use the "lighthouse" things that came with it, though maybe I should, as the roomba may get confused when it turns the corner to go down a hall.

I experimented with putting the roomba in a place where it couldn't find the power supply, and it cleaned the room, and then shut off after a while--- not sure how long it took, but I left it overnight and that was enough. It had enough juice to do it again before recharging. So it's possible, if you want, to buy one roomba, and have it charge and mostly clean one floor level, and then when you need to, take it upstairs or downstairs to the other level to clean without the power supply--- it will just do its duty and then shut off.

I wish it would do more things, like actually vacuum stairs, but that's pretty much impossible. I wish it were a little quieter, but leaving it running when you're not around is probably easy enough.

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Does not work from the factory sealed box. I call to Roomba customer service they were nice and agreed to send a replacement BUT not a new one. So for the price of new I will get refurbished one. Way to go Roomba.
