Remember when you could watch TV for free? You still can. The FlatWave Amplified indoor HDTV antenna saves your money and delivers beautifully crisp, high-definition TV programming from your local stations.

The FlatWave Amplified indoor HDTV antenna’s enhanced dual-band antenna features a state-of-the-art, ultra low noise preamplifier embedded directly at the elements, where 100% of the signal is amplified. The innovative USB power supply provides energy savings by only consuming power while the TV is powered on. Equipped with an 18.5-foot long coax cable, this antenna looks great in any decor thanks to the dual black and white sides.

  • newegg Long Range Amplified Indoor Antenna The FlatWave Amplified offers an extended reception range of up to 50 miles – ideal for smaller communities, or areas where conventional antennas have trouble getting a signal. The revolutionary Clear Circuit technology provides an incredibly low-noise figure of only 1.0dB, letting you receive more channels and minimizing pixelization and dropouts. Dual band reception means you don't miss out on channels that UHF-only antennas can't pick up. Install it in minutes, and say goodbye to big monthly cable bills!
  • newegg Free HDTV Channels 90% of the most-watched TV shows are available on local stations. Why pay for the same programming you can get for free and in high definition with the FlatWave? Many local stations now broadcast in crystal-clear high definition, and also broadcast audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, giving you the ultimate home theatre experience – but with no monthly bills. No monthly fees, no contract, no installation fees, no credit checks, and no cancellation fees: you can save an average of $1,000 per year by switching to FlatWave.
  • newegg Unbelievably Razor Thin The FlatWave is less than 2/100 of an inch thick (0.43mm). You won't believe how thin the FlatWave antenna is! Designed with black on one side and white on the other, the FlatWave can be flipped to display the side that best suits your home decor.
  • newegg More channels for free FlatWave antennas deliver free over-the-air programming to your television. While the channels in your area may vary, there are more channels being broadcast for free than ever before. In most areas you can receive your local ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS channels, as well as new "digital subchannels", that broadcast 24-hour news, weather, kids programming, and your favorite syndicated shows. This includes 90% of the most watched television shows, including programs such as NBC Sunday Night Football, NCIS, Dancing with the Stars, 60 Minutes, and more. In larger markets many other channels are available, including 24-hour sports programming, 24-hour classic movie channels, travel and dining networks, 24-hour music channels, and more.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn’t pick up channels that are even 20 miles away

Pros: If there was a station 10-15 miles away maybe it would pick it up just fine.

Cons: It does not pick up many channels. The channels that it does pick up, don't come in very well. The description says that in picks up channels up to 50 miles away, so I figured the stations that are no more than 35 miles away would come in just fine, but they don't. A local station (WTNH channel 8), which is no more than 20 miles away comes in a little, but it’s unwatchable unless you hold your hands on the antenna.

Other Thoughts: I have an apartment in Guilford, CT where there are only tiny hills and most of the stations are 35 miles away in Hartford, CT and less than 20 miles away in New Haven/Hamden, CT area.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Antenna!

Pros: Lightweight, easy to hide, lots of channels

Cons: None yet!

Other Thoughts: Great antenna! I currently live in Hamilton and will be moving to my new apartment in Ottawa in August. I used to use RCA rabbit ear antenna and was only able to get 3 channels in Hamilton. After purchasing this antenna, it came one day early, and from getting 3 channels with my old antenna, I now have 13 channels. I get CTV Toronto, CBC both in French and English, Global and CityTV, just to name a few. I can't wait to set this up in Ottawa.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the $

Pros: Easy to hide

Cons: I have an old, beat-up pair of rabbit ears from a 30 year old TV. I was going to throw it out until we decided to cut the cord and stream/pull signal OTA. It had been sitting out in the rain and was all bent up. This antenna performs worse than those old rabbit ears. No matter where I put it, how I hook up the amplifier, it just does not pull in signal. It makes me wonder if the coax isn't broken somewhere, it's that bad.

I have line of sight to two transmitters 14 miles away and this is unable to pull them in. I know where I live I'm only going to get 5 or so channels, and this antenna just cannot do it. I hooked the old rabbit ears back up and while it's ugly, at least it works.

5 out of 5 eggsOver 20 channels from downtown Toronto

Pros: Elegant design, good reception, long cable, included command strips for sticking on walls.

Cons: Direction sensitive

Other Thoughts: I'm in downtown Toronto, with CN Tower awfully close to the North and Lake Ontario and Buffalo to the south. Rabbit ears got me only channels from CN tower, about 5-6 of them.

With this Winegard, I get 23 channels in one direction and 25 in the other, most with good reception. It picks up quite a few channels from Hamilton and Buffalo. The entire list -

NBC - 2.1 - WGRZ-HD - Good - US
Weathernation - 2.2 - WGRZ-WN - Good - US
Antenna TV - 2.3 - WGRZ-AT - Good - US
CBS - 4.1 - WIVB-HD - Good - US
CBC - 5.1 - CBLT-DT - Good - Canada
ABC - 7.1 - WKBW-HD - Good - US
CTV - 9.1 - CFTO-DT - Good - Canada
CHCH - 11.1 - CHCH-DT - Good - US
PBS - 17.1 - WNED-HD - Bad - US
Think - 17.2 - Think - Bad - US
TVO - 19.1 - TVO - Good - Canada
The CW - 23.1 - WNLO-HD - Good - US
Bounce - 23.2 - Bounce - Good - US
CBC-French - 25.1 - CBLFTDT - Good - Canada
FOX - 29.1 - WUTV-HD - Bad - US
TCN - 29.2 - TCN - Bad - US
CTV Two - 35.1 - CHCJ-HD - Good - Canada
Crossroads - 36.1 - CITS-DT - Good - Canada
OMNI - 40.1 - CJMT-DT - Good - Canada
Global - 41.1 - CIII-HD - Good - Canada
Global SD - 41.2 - CIII-SD - Good - Canada
OMNI.1 - 47.1 - CFMT - Good - Canada
CITYTV - 57.1 - CITYTV - Good - Canada

My antenna points south but with a 15 degrees change, it picks up 2 more channels:

My TV - 49.1 - WNYO-HD - Good - US
GetTV - 49.2 - WNYO - Good - US

but loses quality on NBC, ABC and CBS.

If I get even the tiniest sustained stuttering, it's listed as "Bad". "Good" means no video or audio stuttering at all.

In contrast to comments on blogs/forums about amplified antennas doing poorer than unamplified ones in the city (putatively due to high strength CN Tower signals saturating the amplifier) , I got only 8 without power and over 20 with power.

Play around with direction - it matters a lot. I used tape to stick it on 2 windows and 2 walls in slightly differing directions and got 23, 25, 9 and 16 channels respectively. Windows are better than walls, and much better than beams.

This is much better, aesthetically and functionally, than rabbit ears. Recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product, great price!

Pros: 9 channels in Toronto from a north facing window in a 3rd story condo. $49 newegg.ca arrived in two days. woot! just in time to watch the world cup!

Cons: limited instructions... but it was a no brainer. plugged in the cable and power cord, channels scan... voila!

Other Thoughts: maybe a pricing error on newegg.ca?

1 out of 5 eggsBad Signal

Pros: Might work for others. Good cable length.

Cons: Not able to pickup any signals better than the wire hanger one that I built for less than $5. When changing channel, have to move antenna to find new signal. USB connector too loose, keeps slips out of AC plug when moving antenna. Bottom of the antenna where the cable connects gets warm from amplified.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!

Other Thoughts: The one I made out of pipe, wire, and wood has to be moved and is klunky looking, so that is why I purchased this one. Thought I might be able to at least keep the signal once it was placed, but it will not keep signal so no point in attaching it anywhere.
Going to try to return, but will see how that goes. Probably will have to forfeit some money on this.

3 out of 5 eggsHmmm....

Pros: Just maybe, only slimmest of slightly better than the $8 HomeWorx antenna purchased from Newegg last year. If the signal is not there, an amplifier will not help. Terribly buzzy audio on higher channels cleared up after about 2 weeks of use.

Cons: It needs the amplifier to compensate for the 5 meters of stupid skinny cable.

Other Thoughts: Try rabbit ears or a cheapo flat antenna first. Terribly buzzy audio on higher channels cleared up after about 2 weeks of use. Should have sent this antenna back but it is working at 95% now.and tired of screwing around with extensions. If a signal is weak, sometimes I can raise one arm and clear the screen! Weird.....
