2 out of 5 eggshard to swap

Pros: it supports both esata and usb 3.0

Cons: i tried to put a popular intel 520 SSD into it and it took almost an hour just to get it to fit. i had to put it in at exactly the right angle and apply a lot of tension to get the lid to re-close. it would have been MUCH easier to just use a screw system instead of this "hot-swap" idea. i don't know if it's just a problem with the intel 520 SSD, or if the orico case i received was just out of tolerance. i know the intel 520 is 9.5mm, which should be supported by the Orico according to the documentation. i tried testing with a different laptop spinning drive and that one did fit in easier. i dread having to swap that 520 drive again!

Also, now that the SSD is in there, i can hear it flapping around when i tip it over. on one end it's being held in by the SATA/Power connector, but there is nothing to stabilize it on the other end. I will probably end up stuffing some foam in it to keep the drive from flopping around.

5 out of 5 eggsBest External Enclosure for the $$$

Pros: Solid construction, easy to use, perfect size, EVERYTHING is included.

Cons: Documentation

Other Thoughts: If drive in this enclosure "disappears", comes back after re-booting and "disappears" again under Windows 7 check your USB power setting. Look at USB Selective Suspend and Turn Off hard Drive After, under Advanced Power Settings. The protective film for the bottom of the HDD was a nice touch.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks, cheap. Open button, push down.

Pros: Works. Comes with all the cables you need.
Esata. Usb 2.0/3.0 split y-cable.
Usb powers it self esata does not.
No need for extra power supply.
Cheap, slick!

Cons: Cables usb 3.0 flat cable needs teeth trimmed down.
Pin internal and external are fragile. Usb powers itself esata does not.
Swing arm is flimsy. Push the open button down slowly then slide it open!
Also the swing arm is a hard drive release pry.
Open loaded drive slowly.

Other Thoughts: I had to flatten the prong teeth on the 3.0 cable so it slides smoothly. They should have used a powered esata. Oh well. Its great for travel and matches my Macbook pro.
Fits a needed product line well. Comes in black.

5 out of 5 eggsRemember, push button then slide first Daniel-San.

Pros: Matches my Macbookpro.
Comes with all the cable you beed usb 2.0/3.0 split wire and esata.
Bilingual instruction Mandarin/Chinese and English.
Cheap for this niche 3.0usb/esata.
ESATA powered of split usb cable.
Usb 2.0/3.0 powers itself.
No driver need for Mac or PC works instantly!

Cons: Door latch swing weak remember to push down slow and slide it back to open Daniel-san.
Usb SS 3.0 has fangs that needed pressing down. Not meant for hot-swap could break any data pin inside or out.
No powered ESATA. ESATA powered of usb split cable.
Drive latch acts as pry so be careful opening loaded drive Daniel-San.

Other Thoughts: I love cheap tech from China...not because it is cheap. If seagate or western digital made this $20 bucks more i would have still bought it. I like this product because it fit a niche i was looking for.

4 out of 5 eggsESATA

Pros: Excellent enclosure that works seemlessly. Just plug and play. I've not used the data migration CD yet but will soon.

Cons: I can't seem to make the ESATA work. It doesn't power up and there is no connection for external power supply. My laptop has USB/ESATA combo so it has power.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Very stable. I switched over to an ssd on my laptop and am using this enclosure with easyBCD to boot over esata. Win7 does not like booting over usb2.0 without some modifications

Booted and ran it for about 6 hours without the system ever lagging or dropping the connection. Much better than my old enclosure.

Cons: None really, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked the enclosure better if it used powered esata (eSATAp). I found a drive online that uses a combo eSATAp with usb3.0, but I don't think that is an official standard.
Having both the eSATAp and an USB slot taken up is a bit annoying.
