5 out of 5 eggsStill working great after 2 years

Pros: Handy little device for cloning, transferring large numbers of files, or running hard drive checks. Had disconnect problems early on, but found that the problem was a driver issue with the 3.0 USB card that it was connected to, and not the docking station. After a driver update to the card, 3.0 use has been problem free ever since. Takes about 2 hours to transfer 1TB of data to a drive attached to the docking station.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice to have individual power buttons for each drive, rather than one for both. Small inconvenience for an otherwise good product.

4 out of 5 eggsNeed simplified & accurate instructions.

Pros: Works great and as described.

Cons: Instructions are lacking, could be simplified into a short accurate document.

Other Thoughts: Once you've done it once this is easy to use.

1 out of 5 eggsDid Not Work

Pros: None

Cons: I may have been able to give this device a proper review had it worked at all. I plugged it in to the power source and turned it on. I then connected the SATA cable of the docking station, and nothing happened. I tried everything, I unplugged it from it's power source and restarted it countless times. I did the same for the SATA Cable and nothing worked. I looked online and it said that Windows 8.1 did not support it at the time. I'm not sure if it was my OS or the bay itself. Either way, this was a huge disappointment of a purchase.

Other Thoughts: Customer Service and returning this was also a nightmare. Shipping and Restocking fees cost me over half of what I payed for it. Newegg customer service has usually been reliable, and I trust this website to only sell me quality products it believes in, but this drive was a huge let down.

1 out of 5 eggsOk when it works

Pros: price for doing 2 drives

Cons: doesn't work most of the time, cloned one drive once, now blew out my new SSD drive, does not mount drives all the time, have to power cycle several times, lights on but do not mount on desk top, Made in china......

Other Thoughts: don't buy

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but trouble

Pros: Can hold two drives.

Cons: Fedora linux completely baffled by this enclosure with two drives in it. Fedora disk utilities display a single drive only, though both drives can be mounted seemingly OK from the command-line. But then the drives are powered down, or sleep, or whatever, and when they wake up, Fedora mounts them as if they were new drives. So then you have four drives mounted, two of which are bogus. It's a mess.

Other Thoughts: Possibly a firmware update or Fedora tweak would fix. Have ordered a single drive USB3 enclosure in the mean time.

1 out of 5 eggsorico support is the worst

Pros: good idea that sometimes works

Cons: random drops outs makes me hesitate to trust it to clone. Manual is difficult to understand. poorly written by non-english speaker

Other Thoughts: support is the worst. drivers, firmware and manual are buried on the website. good luck finding anything. No answer to emails... just hope it works or you are out of luck

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad tool

Pros: Easy to clone drives, USB 3 interface.

Cons: Automatic clone will fail if either drive has any issues (bad block, problem with file system, etc). No progress indicator.

Other Thoughts: I do not care to use the automatic drive clone function. I have found that if there are any issues with either drive the clone will fail, and there is no way to know what caused the failure. There is also no indicator to show progress so there is no way to tell how long the process will take.

I have had better success using a USB connection to the PC (and USB3 works well) and using a program like Acronis to do the actual cloning. Acronis will also have issues if the drives have problems but at least it will tell you so you can attempt to correct them. (I always run a chkdsk on source drives first, and Acronis will let you skip bad blocks.)

Overall, a decent unit that will get the job done.
