1 out of 5 eggsNice enclosure with one FATAL flaw

Pros: Overall nice design. Inexpensive. Fairly easy to swap out drive.

Cons: USB 3.0 port on device is super weak. I am relatively gentile with my stuff, but even so, after only a dozen uses, the USB 3.0 port on the drive itself fell apart on the inside. To make matters worse, after complaining to Orico, I've waited a week with no response. Bad customer service.

Other Thoughts: Fatally flawed product with even worse customer service.

1 out of 5 eggsBad product

Pros: Convenience: no screwing required to replace the hard drive

Cons: With time the USB connector becomes flimsy and eventually falls off of the board. This happened to three(!) out of four of my enclosures.

Other Thoughts: If you think that this defect doesn't apply to your purchase you are WRONG.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: works as advertised, with exception of inserting and removing drive. Hopefully not a weekly task

Cons: Must be gentle when inserting and removing drives with latch mechanism. Once latched is very stable

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good, but delicate

Pros: Nice simple device, easy to use.

Cons: USB3 connector is anchored to the circuit only by the leads. So if you insert the leads a little too hard the connector can snap off. This is what happened to 1 of the 2 I bought. and for $25 it was not worth the effort.

1 out of 5 eggsLooks Nice, Breaks easy

Pros: It has an aluminum case for good heat dissipation. And the I like the Brushed aluminum Look of the Case

Cons: Immediately after getting the enclosure I noticed the latching mechanism had issues I must push with a larger than expected amount of force to and then push the latch to the closed position for it to latch properly.

Second Within three months of purchasing the device the USB connector became temperamental in positioning it to get it to recognize the device. I suspected an issue with a loose connector, but tested with a heavy gauge USB 3.0 cable. It was shortly after I the USB connector became completely separated. As I hadn't registered the device for the warranty and did not want to pay to ship it I took it apart to investigate, USB connector is held on with what looks like four solder points and the smaller pins protruding from the rear of the connector are just resting on their respective contact points. At least the later is my assumption as there is no sign of solder or breakage for the rear pins.

Third, which is part of second, the eSata connector relies on USB for power so the enclosure is essentially useless now.

Other Thoughts: After I purchased this I seen the a new model the 2598US was it to correct these defects?

1 out of 5 eggsLife sucks

Pros: It looks really nice.

Cons: Doesn't work, at all.

Other Thoughts: So I made my Samsung 830 into a portable installation of windows. I ordered this so I didn't have to worry about banging up my hard drive. Shelled out 35 bucks and a weeks worth of waiting, in return DOA. Bottom line, when your price is over all your competition, you need to deliver.
