Question 1

I see all the negative feedback about defective product. Has anyone received a fine working one from Newegg?

I have received a good one recently. Working very well for the past few months now! Sounds great after breaking it in a bit, give it time and make sure you move it around to optimize the sound.

Mine needed settings on the receiver changed a bit, too, in order to make it come alive (Pioneer receiver - configured speakers to size "small" all around so that it would pass more bass to the sub which made a HUGE difference). So make sure you write down your existing settings and then do some trial and error with new settings according to receiver instruction manual.

Have they solved the reliability issues of the amp with these yet? It seems to me the companies customer service is seriously lacking as well!

As best I can tell the company has NO customer service.   Mine broke a couple weeks ago (only had it 3 months). Their phone number has been changed or disconnected and they have not returned any emails from me.  I guess I'm gonna have to involve Visa in this one if there's any chance of getting my money back.  Unfortunately it was the best subwoofer I have ever owned or heard right up until it broke.

Hi, I got this sub 5 days ago, played at average (less than 1/2 volume on my Onkyo 636 AVR) 3-4 hours per day and sound is still as it was from the beginning: very "muddy", unclear low notes and "boomy". I guess it's still on break-in period, however, did not see in manual recommendations for break-in # of hours - can you specify? Thank you! Dmitri

I do not know the answer to how the # of break in hours are needed - sorry.  But your issue does not sound related to break in IMO.  Muddy unclear lows and boomy sound tend to come from speaker placement.  Usually when they are put in a corner or too closes to a wall.  Try moving your sub around and see if that helps.  Otherwise you may have a bad speaker if it persists.  Mine  did not seem to have that problem even before break-in but I did have to carefully chose a location for it to get the best sound.  Hope this helps.
