2 out of 5 eggsIt does the job, but barely

Pros: Price is outstanding. Good form factor for a media center remote. Works right out of the box in linux.

Cons: The up/down/left/right keypad I use all the time for my xbmc media center. On this keyboard they are so close together and squishy that I always hit the wrong key.
My toddler got ahold of the remote and she managed to pop the keyboard open. Luckily I was able to snap it back together. Build quality is low.

Pros: Nice size
Nice hideaway for Dongle
AAA batteries, so don't need to rely on internal battery, which can go bad.
USB extender cord for the dongle (I assume for use if it's too concealed).

Cons: Dead on Arrival. Tried it in 2 different systems. Both recognized the device, but no signals are received from either the touchpad or the keyboard, at any range (including essentially touching the dongle).

Other Thoughts: My assumption based on the behavior is that the dongle is OK, but the RF transmission is failing.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with

Pros: Small, but not overly cluttered
Long range
Works with the RasPi with minimal hiccups (Works better, I think, under Raspbmc and Bohdi than it does Raspian for some reason)
Battery friendly
Internal storage for the transceiver

Cons: Doesn't work in controlling with wife, child, or dog running OEM operating systems PMSos, PITAos and Microsoft BOB respectively. Going to try running them on different OSes and may respond with better news later.

Other Thoughts: What in the world is this little white LED on the end good for? I mean, seriously. It's a small, 3mm white LED on the trackpad-end that turns on when you press a button on the side. It's...It's not bright enough for anything. You have to hold it less than an inch from something for enough charged particles of light to collect on the surface JUST to see that it's ON without looking directly at it. It's worth a joke or two about the blinding brightness that it DOESN'T have, but those jokes get old after the third or so retelling.

If anybody can tell me why this light exists, then please do so. I'll forever be looking at this page to see if another commenter can share with me their sage knowledge in this odd addition to an otherwise nearly-flawless device.
