The BRE71n is the smallest wireless router in the world that features cutting-edge Smart Wi-Fi and versatile Internet options. Its tiny size makes it practically unnoticeable when used with smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic wireless devices on-the-go, but it is still powerful enough to let you access the Internet through either a 3G/4G network or WAN connection (cable or DSL), control your connected devices (e.g., cameras, storages, speakers), and manage your network from anywhere and anytime.

High Compatibility Globally-Tested
Supports 300+ 3G/4G (LTE) USB modems and smartphones (see our compatibility list). 3G/WAN failover guarantees that you always have an Internet connection.

Multiple Operating Modes
In addition to the router mode, the BRE71n offers versatile Internet modes (Wi-Fi AP, AP, Wi-Fi ISP, WDS, Repeater, and Client) that you can use to get connected in any wired/wireless environment. The simplest option is to press the WPS button on the router under the wireless access point mode to extend an existing network to avoid any dead spots in your home/office.

Smart Wi-Fi
Take advantage of Sapido’s exclusive and free Smart Wi-Fi app, the Pdapp, and monitor your home through cameras, upload/download files (e.g., pictures and music) between your smartphone and USB drive, and AirPlay music to any speaker in the network. Supports iOS, Android, and Windows OS.

Multi-functional USB Port
The USB 2.0 port supports connections from USB modems, smartphones, webcams, external hard drives, and speakers

Fast Wireless-N Speed
Complies with 802.11 standards and offers Wireless N speeds up to 150 Mbps

Easy setup
Connect to the Internet in 30 seconds with the CD-free installation and easy graphical user interface (GUI)

IPv6 Enabled
Supports the latest Internet protocol to get you ready for the future

Quality of Service (QoS)
Traffic prioritization technology allows you to allocate your network usage to avoid network congestion and delivers smooth video, music, and Skype performance

Parental controls
Allows for easy web filtering to protect every device connected to the network

Multiple Service Set Identifier (SSID) optimizes your network efficiency by setting up different SSIDs for different groups

VPN Server and DMZ
Supports 10 different Virtual Private Networking (VPN) tunnels, two different tunneling protocols (PPTP, L2TP), and up to 253 PCs for secure remote access to your business or home network

Advanced security
Various advanced encryptions (WEP 64/128 bit, WPA, WPA2, WPA2 Mixed) and the SPI Anti-DoS Firewall allow you to protect against hackers and unwanted users to keep your network safe

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Purchase

Pros: I tested this device on my own network and the main functions that the router claims to offer seem to work:

1. AP mode works instantly. I connected the BRE71n to one of the ethernet ports on my main router and connected my laptop wirelessly.

2. Wireless AP mode. I had to enter the configuration page on the BRE71n to select my current network and enter the WPA key. Couldn't quite figure out how to access the BRE71n to change to another network so I reset it by using a pen to press the reset pin for 7 seconds.

3. Contrary to the previous review, I tested the WIFI ISP (WISP) function of this router and it seems to work fine. Similar to the WAP mode, I entered the configuration page to select connect to my current guest wifi and entered the WPA key. To access the login page of my guest wifi where I could enter the password, I had to access the router configuration page ( to figure out the the guest domain and then manually access the guest login page. On my E2500 it was The wireless worked once I entered my password. I've yet to try this on a hotel network.

4. LTE mode works.

5. Webcam works! Connected my logitech webcam to the usb port on the router and could instantly view the webcam on my phone using the associated pdapp android app. This combination would be great as a wireless baby monitor or security camera. I believe it is possible to access the router and webcam remotely but I did not attempt to try that.

6. Device is small (slightly smaller than half the size of a credit card)

Cons: 1. Device is made of plastic and tends to run quite hot. I would hesitate to drop the router - seems very fragile. I wish Sapido had bundled the router with a cushioned travel case to keep the router, usb cable and power adapter.

2. The music function of the pdapp app on Android does not seem to work. I connected my usb speaker to the router but the app dies and restarts when I try to play any music on my phone. I did not try the PC or iphone pdapp apps to see if they work there.

Other Thoughts: This device is cheaper and more compact than its nearest competitors. The webcam function is novel and is not an advertised function of most other travel routers I have looked at. I hope the heat generated will not be a problem and the device will last.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Sapido BRE71n is not ready for the market

Pros: Cheap and small

Cons: The instructions are very poor and in an unintelligible English, the interface is not clear, every change requires a restart, the WiFi IPS mode (WISP) simply doesn't work, and the firmware has never been updated.

I wanted to use the BRE71n in WiFi IPS mode (WISP). Regardless of how I set it up, as soon as it connects to the hotspot, the device's AP WiFi and LAN Ethernet die.

Other Thoughts: Looking at the manufacturer's web page and manuals, it seems that all products have the same manual and interface, and they claim to have the same operating modes, whether they actually work for the specific model or not.

Get yourself an Edimax BR-6258n and avoid Sapido products.
