5 out of 5 eggsA step up over most DVR system cameras

Pros: Wide angle, good sharpness, good color and contrast, effective night vision.

Cons: Not 900L or higher, I guess; no pan/tilt/zoom controls.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because one of my DVR's included "bullet" cameras broke and I needed a replacement. I knew already that I wanted something with a wider angle - my bullet cameras have a very narrow field of view. This camera didn't disappoint - it's got a very wide lens, even slightly fisheye at the edges. I have it positioned at the back of my store and it sees the entire 800 square feet of my space.

It's also got noticeably better color and contrast than my bullet cameras, and its night vision capability is miles better. My bullet cameras are very dark in comparison - this thing can see all the way from the back to the front of my store with reasonable clarity in total darkness.

I'm giving it 5 stars because it's also very reasonably priced for what it does. If you spend more, you can get a better camera with higher resolution and full motion controls. This is your basic standard-def fixed position CCTV camera, but it's really good at that and it doesn't cost much at all. I don't think you'll find anything better at this price point.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Got it on sale for 39.99. Super good night vision for a cheap camera. Good color compared to other cheaper cameras and also sharp picture. Love this camera for my self service car wash. 2.8mm lens is wide enough for all I need to cover in the bays and has not fogged over like other cheaper cams i have had . Not to expensive but still has great quality

Cons: Hasn't gone on sale enough!

Other Thoughts: Do another sale NewEgg so I can stock up!

4 out of 5 eggsWhat a nice Security Camera

Pros: Hooked this camera up to an old TV monitor and was really surprised for the price at how great the picture quality was.

Cons: Not a lot of instructions on hooking this up and all you get is the camera. so you need to pretty much order cable and power supplies..

Other Thoughts: No Knowledge on different types of cables and power supplies or the wonderful world of security Cameras but learned quickly and was really impressed with the quality of this inexpensive camera.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Wide Angle Security Camera

Pros: The Avue AV665SCW28 Surveillance Camera is pretty good for the price, but not great, and feels solid, since it is metal, not cheap plastic.
The camera is wired with a standard BNC connector and power plug that most surveillance systems use.
Objects that are within 8ft of the center of the lens are very clear and focused. Objects that are further away and toward the edge of the lens are not as clear or focused, but you can still tell the difference between a small dog or cat.
The translated instructions tell you that the focus can be adjusted, but they do not tell you how to do adjust the focus.
Outside, the color saturation is high in the daytime, but black and white at night.
Although the camera is described as 600TVL high resolution, the image on my 47" monitor does not seem any better than the images from my Swann Pro 580 cameras, which are rated as 480TVL resolution.
Since the camera has a wide angle 2.8mm lens, the image has a fish-eye appearance, which is normal for a wide angle lens.

Cons: The camera is a clone. Their is no indication on the camera, box, or instructions that anything is made by Avue! Avue cameras say Avue in big green lettering. The box is just a generic camera box and the generic instructions have no contact information.

Other Thoughts: I would never buy a camera rated less than 480TVL resolution, os this one works well. The next time this camera goes on sale, I plan to buy 2 more to replace the cameras that cover the driveway and front sidewalk area.

4 out of 5 eggsAnother CCTV camera

Pros: Manufacturer site says that it has standard BNC connector for CCTV connection and requires 12v (standard). Infrared viewing good for approx 60ft. 2.8mm lens for Wide Angle viewing.

Cons: have not tried the product...providing clarity.

Other Thoughts: What I do know is that the standard cheap-o kits come with 350-400 lines resolution cameras and that this would be a definite improvement over them....zmodo, nightowl, etc. I have one such recorder at my shop and have replaced a couple cameras with this style of better-lines-camera and definitely see the difference.

4 out of 5 eggsNetwork?

Pros: This looks like a solid value for the price.

Cons: I cannot determine if this camera is actually a 'network' camera. It does not look like it is, and at this price point, I would doubt it.

Other Thoughts: I do not own this, but I do camera install work and a client wanted to use this camera in an IP Camera setup. I told him that I doubted that it was IP and was fairly sure that it would be an analog BNC Camera. Time will tell when he gets them in.
