You can try different outlets and disconnecting electronics around the units to see if you can identify a device that may be causing interference and then relocate the unit or the device. Please also ensure you disconnect chargers that aren’t actively charging devices as they can cause interference on Powerline networks. Also avoid using GFI outlets and outlets on AFCI breakers as they can also impact your Powerline network.

Cons: Large, and doesn't have power passthrough so it kind of consumes a whole power outlet by itself.

Other Thoughts: I've always been a little skeptical about powerline adapters because of interference and possible issues with older homes and such, but i was pleasantly surprised to have no issues whatsoever with the one's I got. I was able to connect my home theater PC to my desktop, for Steam Home Streaming. I thought that the connection might not be reliable enough for it, but It works flawlessly. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Hard to list considering I never got it to work

Cons: Really bad documentation and software wasn't helpful either. The entire quick guide and manual assumes perfect operation, provides no real trouble shooting tools or information.

The guide mentions several times the importance of the encryption key and that both must match. However there is no way to confirm or change the host device. Even though to change any clients, its password must be confirmed for proper syncing of keys.

According to the light patterns on the signal strength, the signal strength was good, but the software itself it shows 2 bars. Even when in the same room on the same breaker.

No way to verify the 2 devices were syncing or talking to each other. Even tried setting the Network on the host, swapped the host and client around and set the client to the same network to attempt to get these to work.

Other Thoughts: Would have been nice to see it work. Always preferred wired to wireless connections. Main reason I decided to try this.

Hello,

The units by default have the same key. Pressing the synch button changes the key and synchs units. If they were installed on GFCI outlets or on outlets with AFCI breakers it could cause some connectivity issues. Avoiding these may help. You can also try different outlets or disconnecting electronics around the units to see if you can identify something that is causing interference. You can manually change the keys using the utility to ensure they both match. Pros: - Easy to install, just plug and play
- Solid build, it seems like a quality product
- Solid and consistent internet speeds

Other Thoughts: I got 3 of these adapters cause I couldn't find a kit on newegg that has 1 base and 2 adapters, so I just bought these after reading people's good experiences with these. So far they are working great, no speed drops or disconnects, am able to play games and stream movies solidly.

Pros: easy connect and small size

Cons: utility reports 100+mbps connectivity between devices but the reality is a stream of 6mbps could not be maintained. I purchased to improve the speed of a wireless network but unfortunately the wireless network outperforms these power line adapters

Other Thoughts: Upgrading firmware did not help. Most annoying part is the utility reports a faster speed than the devices are capable of achieving

Pros: trendnet customer service really seems to care about the end user and offered to replace my defective unit.

Cons: initial failure.

Other Thoughts: i updated my review to show that trendnet actually cares about the end-user as i was contacted and offered troubleshooting replacement options.

Pros: good speed. Never used powerline before and never heard of it till a week ago. Pretty easy to set up. You need to by at least 2 units that will connect with each other. Buying one unit alone makes no sense. All units come with a default network ID so they will work out of the box - but it is recommended you change the ID (or anyone in the same building who might use powerline might end up on your network). To change the default network ID you just hold the button in for 3 seconds. The light will flash for 2 minutes and during that time you have to hit/hold the button on any other powerline unit on the network (I think up to 8).

Other Thoughts: Reason for purchasing: My ISP only allows 1 cable modem (1 mac address) or I have to pay extra. My condo is rather long so it is difficult to get good wifi coverage through out and there are a ton of electrical devices interfering. I bought 2 powerline + 2 wireless routers.

My setup is a cable modem in the front of the condo plugged into a wifis wan port. That wifi's lan port plugs into the powerline. In the back of the condo I have another powerline that plugs into a second wifi's lan port (NOT wan). Pretty simple to configure.

Below are my internet speeds. I have not tried benchmarking on my internal network which might be a better test of the powerline since it might be my ISP limiting speeds. In any case these speeds are good enough for my needs.

Pros: Extremely easy setup, was literally just plug-n-play.

I have a 2 story house, ISP modem is in the top floor in my office and I needed internet 2 floors down in my basement. WiFi was horrible down in the basement, so I got 2 of these to try. My ISP gives me 25mb down and using these I now get about 10-15mb down in the basement. That speed is perfectly fine for me, and is expected as my network is spread on different circuits and goes through the breaker box. I plan on getting a 3rd one to run internet to another room that is hard to reach WiFi too.

Cons: None.

Speed degradation was expected as I'm going across multiple circuits.

Pros: Reasonable pricing, works as advertised

Cons: No pass-through plugin
