Gefen EXT-HD-DSWFN Digital Signage Player with Wi-Fi
Gefen's Digital Signage Player with Wi-Fi is the industry's first media appliance to combine the power of HTML5 with the interoperability of SMIL. This Digital Signage Player is a LAN-based product, which supports Full 1080p HD, text tickers, 2-channel L/R audio, and calendar scheduling with over ten preloaded templates to choose from.
The all-metal enclosure features a passive cooling system. The product comes with 4GB of built-in flash memory, and the securable compact flash card slot allows the addition of up to 16GB of memory if needed (replacing the internal storage). Two integrated USB 2.0 ports provide connection to a keyboard and to USB storage devices. Its support for over 20 different media formats provides a wide selection for content creation. A watchdog timer lets the product recover and resume playback after power and network disruptions.
The included software will allow users to upload video playback schedules and playlists for easy content management. Additionally, software developers can utilize W3C SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) syntax which ensures compatibility across multiple Digital Signage platforms. The included software features over ten different multi-zoned templates and "live feed" widgets to fit your specific Digital Signage needs.
The Signage Manager Express uses a simple template and widget based system for content creation. The software interface is easy to navigate and importing elements is as easy as dragging them into the playlist window from your desktop. Each template offers different pre-zoned sections that can contain different video and image content. Most templates can also include a "ticker" style text message. Widgets for date and time, weather, RSS feeds, and news are also provided. In addition to this, a webpage can also be displayed by providing the software with a URL.
Uploading your newly created content to the Digital Signage Player with Wi-Fi is also an easy process. The Signage Manager Express software allows you to send the content directly to one or to multiple units that are on the same network. If your devices are not located on the same network, an alternate method of loading the content is provided. The software will also allow you to export your content to a USB drive which can then be plugged directly into one of the 2 USB ports on the device. The content will then be copied from the USB drive directly to the internal memory on the device.
The Gefen General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) module works with the Digital Signage Player with Wi-Fi (or Wi-Fi Plus), allowing the professional integrator to add optical sensors, relays, lighting controls, buttons, and other devices to existing digital signage presentations. Use the GPIO module with a motion sensor to automatically play digital signage content when someone approaches a screen or trigger a relay to change the lighting at a kiosk or other destination – the possibilities are limited only by your creativity. External events are sent via USB, into the Digital Signage Player, and integrated into the SMIL script to trigger playlists. The GPIO module uses minimal power draw by using simple open-close circuits on the input and output ports.
The Digital Signage Player with Wi-Fi connects to a display using analog cables (Composite / Component / VGA) or an HDMI cable. There are two options for connecting to the network: either connect an Ethernet cable to the network, or connect using Wi-Fi. Then connect a keyboard and peripherals to the USB ports to configure the unit. Use the included Composite A/V cables to connect the product to the 3.5mm connector. Connect the 12VDC power supply to the unit and connect the AC power cord to an available electrical outlet.
