Inspired by pedal designs found in modern fighter aircraft such as the F16 or F35, the Rudder Pedals are constructed from a highly robust Di-cast alloy, providing durability and authenticity for the most demanding of aspiring pilots.

Independent left and right brake axis allows for greater accuracy and precision when performing braking maneuvers. Self-centering rudder axis works in conjunction with a user configurable dampening adjuster, allowing users to define levels of pressure required to operate rudder controls.

4 out of 5 eggsSaitek Pro Combat Rudder Pedals

Pros: These are the physical construction I've seen on rudder pedals, and are also comfortable either with shoes or barefoot. Action is quite smooth, and I have no doubt these will last a long time.

Cons: I only gave 4 out of 5 rating, but would give other rudder pedals less. The issues I have are all related to the toe brakes. Toe brakes need far more tension, and are non-adjustable...only the rudder portion is adjustable.

Slightly touching these brakes activates isn't possible to rest the feet on the rudders and not drag the toe brakes unless barefoot with only the toes wrapped onto the rudder (this is comfortable, just not resting). The angle which the toe brakes stick out at is adjustable to make brake access more or less active based on foot's the right idea, but the least angled direction is too much.

To correct "slight touch" a much stronger spring would work. Alternatively, the dead zone could be set larger, but unfortunately the software does this quite wrong. Normal joystick devices center at "0" and move through range "-1000" to "+1000". Dead zone on centered devices surrounds the "0" point. Toe brakes start at "-1000" and do not center at zero. Rudder dead zone instead cuts off at "-1000", which is ok...unfortunately, they also cut off the "+1000" end. In order to use dead zone to stop resting, one has to vastly cut the entire range.

Real rudders (I'm a real pilot) allow resting without dragging brakes. Typical action is that when pushing brakes there is a slight range of lower pressure before engaging which point pressure increases. When increase starts, brakes begin movement, but do not immediately touch braking surfaces. When finally hitting braking surface, resistance should increase at least enough to be able to have a tactile feedback. Thus real brakes go from significant rest tension to not accidentally drag, to hydraulics engaged but not braking, finally to heavier resistance for actual braking. These rudders go from far too little resistance to avoid dragging, directly into braking with still far far too little resistance.

What Saitek should have done is to provide small resistance which is far more than exists, followed by a sudden increase in pressure after a small movement, followed by begin of "-1000" slightly into this increased pressure. Dead zone should be adjusting just this beginning area and not the maxed out end (maxed out end could have a dead zone, but NEVER tie it to the start point). The angle that the toe brakes sit at should also be FAR less (adjustment just allows far increased angle).

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking I may try to find a way to increase spring tension, but I'm not sure how yet. This would allow dead zone to be small and feet to rest without starting braking. These are still the highest quality rudders I've seen, I'm just disappointed Saitek came so close but did not put out the effort on toe brakes which they put out on the rudder portion.

5 out of 5 eggsSaitek Pro Combat Rudder Pedals

Pros: Smooth rudder movement. Toe brakes are a little different than my previous pedals but I grew used to it. I played a mission in DCS Black Shark and loved it. These pedals ar a fine piece of flight sim hardware. I am running these under Windows 7 64bit with my Thrustmaster Warthog. They work fine together as long as the simulation supports seperate controllers.

Cons: None that I can think of. These are a bit pricey but New Eggs price was as low or lower than other reputable dealers

Other Thoughts: My pedals needed a little adjustment upon arrival. The left toe brake was sticking. Loosening the adjustment bolts on the side of the pedal fixed the problem.
