5 out of 5 eggsworks!

Pros: Used with the Microsoft surface dock for surface pro 4/surface book to allow dual monitor setup (three monitors if you include the mDP from the surface pro 4 itself). The surface dock requires an active mDP adapter for some use cases. In my case, the second monitor plugged into the dock requires this active mDP cable.

Currently using a BenQ BL3200 (mDP to DP) and two Dell 2007FP monitors (mDP to DVI) in portrait.

Cons: none so far

5 out of 5 eggs4.5 star product with 5 star support

Pros: ease of use,one lasted just under 2 years, one is still going strong at the two year mark,no noticeable latency,no problem with eyefinity setup,5 star native English speaking not outsourced phone suppo

Cons: My sample group of two adapters is small, but it may have been an oddity to have a bad one.

Other Thoughts: Purchased two of these to drive a second and third monitor for an eyefinity setup on 2/24/13. An XFX 7970 driving three AOC E2460SWD monitors. I built the setup for gaming, but would often do some take home work on it, as well (spreadsheets at 5760x1080 like a boss!). One stopped remaining connected intermittently when switching between a full screen game or application and windows. Troubleshot it to not be the port on the GPU, not the DVI cables, and not the monitors. Called their support team and began painless RMA process. If that goes as well as everything to date I will revise review to 5 stars.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after about 1 year

Pros: Worked most of the time.

Cons: Occasionally would fail on resume from sleep mode. Totally failed after about 1 year of use.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for leaving feedback on our MDP2DVIS video adapter, and we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. We would like to help.

It is possible that the unit you received has become defective. In order to rule out other factors, please try the following steps, if you have not already:

1. Test with a different Mini DisplayPort equipped source device.
2. Test with a different DVI-D display.
3. Test with a different DVI-D cable.

Also, have you tried updating your video card drivers? It is always a good idea to check for any available updates directly from the manufacturer of the video card. This may also help remedy the failure-to-resume issue you previously experienced.

If the above steps do not resolve your problem, please get in touch with us and reference case # 303-187735. This adapter comes with a 2 year warranty, and we will be glad to assist you with getting a replacement.

We are also interested to know the models of your display and source device, as we would like to pass this information to our product team for further investigation.

Please contact us via the link below, or you may respond here and we will be sure to follow up with you.

Thank You,

Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggsUsing two and they work great

Pros: -Works great with my R9 295x2 and three 1920x1200 monitors. I'm using these for my surround monitors while the center monitor is using the only DVI connector on the card.
-Overall quality seems very high.

Cons: Pricey for an adapter, but I guess converting display port to DVI is not as simple as splicing wires and soldering to compatible connectors.

Other Thoughts: Because of the added weight of the adapter, I recommend bracing the wire on something to keep weight off the display port connection on your video card/cable. In my case I just ran the wires over my desk to prop the wire up horizontally.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked great when it did work

Cons: After about 7 months I started getting intermittent video failure after weird tearing on the monitor I had it hooked up to when playing games (eyefinity setup). The last time I had this issue was when I was using a cheaper semi- or non-active adapter.
Definitely going with Sapphire this time.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: none

Cons: DOA. Never worked.

Other Thoughts: I thought I might have been unlucky, but it seems to happen to a number of people. I will be looking for another brand, so should you.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked only for the first couple of months

Pros: did it's job when it worked.

Cons: pretty pricey for an unreliable product. After about 5 months of use on my 3 monitor set up, it started to only display my monitor at 640x480.

Other Thoughts: I really wouldn't get this adapter, from what I understand the reliability of it is pretty hit or miss. no need to spend so much on an adapter that is probably going to stop working properly

1 out of 5 eggsVery Unreliable

Pros: Nice design, sleek and feels quite durable

Cons: Highly unreliable. I have a 12-display set up for day trading, and I've gone though 17 of these adaptors before having to switch to other (cheaper!) brands. I'm done with the hit and miss quality of their product, while they charge more than other competitors

Other Thoughts: Be warned, you maybe have to go through two or three to find one that works correctly!
