4 out of 5 eggsThis little guy is IDEAL!

Pros: Spoke to Cyber power, they confrimed that if the unit is on, and nothing is drawing power or plugged in. The unit shuts itself off and draws no power. Well, there has to be a small maybe a few miliamp draw in order to keep the unit in a ready state when something is plugged in. But for the most part he said that it does have this functinality. I called the local number 952-403-9500 and pressed option 5 and it took all of 30 sec to talk to somone. SUPER! No sharp edges! I was like Whoa! Nice! And blends in your car. This unit does not over perform like some, but delivers what is said on the spec sheet. Not the cheapest, not the best value, but the real GFI is a nice touch.

Cons: Still larger then some. But let me tell you, the ones that have these POST connections on back are the best to have.

You can OVER run this unit at 14.4 and get a little more out of it then the rated 200W, but not much more. (means that it is made well, and won't suck allot of standby current, a good con)

Wish it had like Mounts on it. like an amp. But Found a way to install it on my amp rack. the USB connector was like Super tight when i got it. Now it as settled down. Still withen spec. 120v power receptacle (IE WHY U NO SPELL CHECK) should hold the plug with more force. Can be fixed by opening the unit. (NOOBS STAY AWAY) And PLEASE Even your humble molex in your PC does a better job then a cigar lighter plug. You can MELT IT on most cars so BE CAREFUL! My fav for small plugables are here on new egg that have the wire hard wired to the unit. (like the Hoorber Fright ones) They had a can unit that was great a while back.

Other Thoughts: If there ever was a good use for a 1 Farad cap. This would be it. Does it keep the voltage stable. Hell no! Use it for the same reason why you would use a cap in any other system, Keeps things smoothe---errr. This does make a small bit of noise on the DC side. Oh well. Nothing to write home about. REally, Just about any large value OK quality cap should work ok ON THE POWER SUPPLY DC side

Wire this in for a perment install under the dash, and forget about it. I have not had a battery die yet, But just like any car audio install, you really should have a second battery. I just used a UPS/type 12 Amp hour battery next to this and wired it to the same line as my amps in the back. I was cheap and used solid copper wire for ground, and braided for postive just to keep the instal simple.

Looks great, runs great. Does not make that much noise, Great for small loads like laptops.

1 out of 5 eggsduh ?!

Pros: I give up=)

Cons: This is an addendum to my previous review. After getting little help from Newegg, I contacted the company by phone to ask them to send me the missing battery clamp. They were very nice and agreed to send it free of charge. A week goes by and it comes by mail. So I open the package and what did they send? The wrong part. Another cig. lighter plug that I already have. Now I have two of those and am still missing the battery clamp. I was very specific about the missing part being the battery clamp.

Other Thoughts: Why it's a big deal. First, I didn't get what I paid for. Second, the cig. lighter plug is not rated to output the full 200 watts the unit is capable of. You must connect directly to the car battery for that, or risk blowing the fuse and possibly frying the circuit. That's why the unit is supposed to come with the battery clamp to begin with.

1 out of 5 eggsMissing parts

Pros: Unknown. Have not used it yet.

Cons: Missing large cables to hook to 12v battery. Blatant omission by manufacturer. Contacted Newegg. No response after initial contact.
Requested RMA.

Other Thoughts: Don't purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Small, pretty inexpensive, auto-shutoff (when not in use). Looks ok, does the job, and is cheap for the amount of power it produces.

Cons: The connectors don't look as safe as I'd like them to be.

Other Thoughts: Like many of the inverters, the connector is a post/screw. I don't feel 100% safe with the design, and wish it was a 'plug' or something similar that would completely cover the connector. I understand why it's done this way (to make it easy to run cable between it and the battery) but still don't like it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great little unit. Worked flawlessly on my camping trip. Used it for tent lighting, charging razor, camera, laptop (internet & dvd movies) etc. Comes with 12v car connector and battery clamps for higher loads above 10-15 amps.

Cons: None observed.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly!

Pros: Powers my GPS and laptop at the same time.

Cons: Fan makes some noise, but its not loud enough to bother me.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you understand your car's electrical system, specifically the amperage of the cigarette lighter. User manual notes that when using the cigarette lighter loads should not exceed 150 watts. Battery cable clamps are included in package for powering larger items. Most laptops are in the neighborhood of 75 watts.

Cons: I plugged it into the cigarette lighter as instructed and pop it blew almost instantly. Not sure of the reason but I am glad I didn't plug my laptop into it.
