1 out of 5 eggsNot a good choice

Pros: Layout of connections is good

Cons: Used in a new build. Would not recognize my SATA hard drive without installing SATA Drivers which are required to be on a floppy, who has floppies anymore? TYhus i could not install Windows because I had "no Hard drive" So I replaced with an PATA Hard drive and then it would only install XP up to "press F8 to agree" page, then it would lock-up and go no further. I switched it out with an Asus Board and 20 minutes later I had a computer running great. I spent 8 hours trying to get this one to work and after all that the Asus Board took only 20 min.

Other Thoughts: Shouldn't all Motherboards these days had SATA drivers pre-installed?

2 out of 5 eggs6month Update, Fair Price, dont expect reliability

Pros: Nice price, stable, nicely stable. Takes Core2 allendale, pentium dual core E21XX, and Conroe 1066,1333 chips. G33 chipset awesomely fast 1333-800Mhz can use 533-800 DDR2 mem

Cons: Audio is flat, Realtek HD junk. DIED AFTER 6mo of service. Pitiful, I had an $50 ECS last 2 years. Some flash drives induced a sudden shutdown.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed, got Intel mobo for rock solid stability, inserted my flash drive and BAM Mobo murder! Cleared the bios, took out the battery, followed instuctions rebuilt the whole system twice. Bench tested 500W PSU, all flawless. No fire but 5VLED light worked great. Specs at death: BIOS Version 297 Intel E4400 2.0Ghz, 800FSB, 2GB Kingston 667Mhz DDR2, Seagate 7200.9 80GB, WDC 160GB SE, Seagate 7200.10 320GB HIS Radeon X1600Pro 512MBDDR2

4 out of 5 eggsDetails on Linux

Pros: 2nd board I have purchased. Both very reliable and work well.

Cons: Bought Newegg "Open Box" of this boxed motherboard. You just get the motherboard wrapped in bubblewrap. No box no nothing.

RAM is 1.8v only

No overclocking

Disappointed that Intel makes modern chipsets that burn so much power despite running adverts claiming to be "green".

Other Thoughts: Bit tricky under linux.

Need pci=nommconf line on kernel boot line (in grub)

SATA works on recent kernels

Intel latest GbE ethernet chip is not supported by 'e1000' in kernel source tree - you need to download and compile the www.intel.com driver (not hard).

G33 X windows driver is very tricky - does not seem to be supported by any off the shelf kernels yet. Lots of different bits need recompiling. I am using this machine as a headless server so I didn't bother. Would strongly advise against using on-board graphics with Linux.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fair price, good connectivity 8 rear USBs, stable, good hardware monitor utility, simple bios, rear fire wire port, simple documentation, 2 SATA cables with quality locks

Cons: No overclocking options in bios. Drivers on disc would not load went to website with second computer and transfered via thumb drive. GPU MSI NX8600GTS card covers one PCI express X1 port completely, and partially covers 1 PCI expansion slot, only 2 fan conections.

Other Thoughts: Great board for the family without gaming teens. I game moderatly, do some simple graphics work, and home office computing. I did not use the onboard graphics. System posted first time no hiccups or lockups. Coolermaster Centurion case with 380 psu, Intel 6750 processor, MSI NX8600GTS 256MB GPU, 2 GB A-DATA ram, 2 80cfm fans, 1 120 cfm fan, 2 W/D 250 SATA HDDs.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board, save energy, not Linux friendly

Pros: Great board with all needed interfaces on board for a high performance PC. Run Vista very stable. Measured the power consumation is 99W at idle, and 150W when busy. Much better than the ASUS boards we have that is constantly at 160W, with same E6550 CPU. It works even with older P3 power supply, not like ASUS boards that made power supply pump out a lot of hot air all the time.

Cons: Does not work with some Linux distribution, since the chip set driver is not in all Linux distribution, or default kernel source from kernel.org.

Other Thoughts: We slowly get rid of old PCs with this board and E6550 CPU. With much faster speed, it uses less power than our old 1GHz P3. Save our earth by buying this board now from NewEgg!

3 out of 5 eggsGood Mobo but no OC

Pros: Works stable and fast with everything I have installed, Vista 32bit, 64 bit, Audio,on-board Video (directx 10), plenty USB 2 and firewire. Good price for what it's worth.

Cons: No option in BIOS to set mem voltage. Run into problem when OCZ 4GB kit (2x2GB) requires 2.0v (Mobo default 1.8v) for it's max frequency (DDR2-6400 is recognized as DDR2-5300 by this Mobo), made OS slow like P4 when add other DDR2-6400 mem.

Other Thoughts: Will return this Mobo for a GA or Asus for mem option in BIOS.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, Need More Fan Terminals

Pros: good layout to mount aftermarket heatsinks, SATA layout is deccent.

Cons: Not enough places to plug in fans, ended up splicing into my power supply which I did not enjoy AT ALL.

Other Thoughts: over all a good board for lan gamers wanting a good budget lan rig, or even a work station for a office user.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Inexpensive, Intel, Does exactly what it says

Cons: DVI and or HDMI video would be nice. Very limited tuning ability. Can't manually adjust ram voltage, but my 2.1 volt RAM is working.

Other Thoughts: Works exactly as it should for a simple inexpensive system. Combined with an E6550 and a Raptor, performance is extremely close to my D975XBX2 w/ E6600 which cost a lot more money. I didn't try the onboard audio or video as I am using an ATI X1950XTX and X-Fi.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, somewhat Linux friendly

Pros: It's a G33 microatx board. If you need the features of the G33 (1333MHz bus, onboard video, onboard gigabit ethernet) in this form factor, it does fine. Works great for me with an E6850 and 4x1GB Kingston DDR2-800.

Cons: Not entirely Linux friendly yet (see other thoughts). Reporting ICH temp of 90 degrees C?! This is on both boards (I bought 2).

Other Thoughts: Current linux distributions may have trouble installing on this board. Fedora Core 7, for example, will not be able to install due to the kernel not having drivers for the onboard SATA or ethernet. I made a custom FC7 installation CD that worked, and once it's installed, the more recent kernel image in FC7 updates works perfectly with this board. Other distributions will likely have similar issues. The next versions of Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. will probably all have a recent enough kernel for there to be no problems.
