5 out of 5 eggsWas everything I needed and more!

Pros: I know motherboards are kind of iffy and your chances of getting a DOA is significant, and according to the other reviews ASUS, while making good products, have horrible customer service, so I was kind of nervous when buying this motherboard for my budget gaming build. I'm happy to announce that everything went swimmingly and I'm very happy with this motherboard. All components were just plug and play, the board being a micro ATX fit in the case with plenty of room to spare, and it posted on the first try! If that wasn't good enough the board came with some SATA cables which was a pleasant surprise (I'd already pulled some from my old desktop) and the Drivers DVD includes some nice extra software for diagnostics and monitoring of your motherboards condition, along with other software like Google Chrome, Winzip, Norton Antivirus, Daemon Tools, and so on. For $50, it's a great value! Audio requires some calibration but once it's setup it sounds great on my Logitech speakers.

Cons: The soldering on the bottom of the board has some bits sticking out that chewed up the ESD wrapper and some of the cardboard from the box. I want to say this is about par for the course with mobo packaging but it did concern me upon opening the box that the board might be damaged.

There's no USB 3.0 or SATA 6.0GB/s ports but at $50 I can live without until I can afford a better board.

There's only one chassis fan connection (besides the heatsink fan) so if anyone wanted to customize their cooling setup this board would disappoint you.

I agree with another reviewer about the PCI x16 port being flimsy, theres no latch that holds the video card to the board so the only thing holding it in are the case screws.

The RAM slots are right next to each other which makes me nervous about overclocking them, will probably wait to do that until I get another board.

PCI slots are a little close together, there's no room for further expansion after installing my video card. Luckily I opted for a USB wireless adapter for this reason instead of a PCI x1 chip. Now I kinda wish this thing had more USB ports.

Other Thoughts: The cons I have for this board aren't really cons for me, everything works and I'm happy. They're just things I thought might matter to other people.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid, cheap Motherboard

Pros: -Fits a better cooler (logysis beta 400 st)

-easy to read bios

-Rated at 95w, but I overclocked my fx 6300 to 4.1ghz and it has been running stable

Cons: Only real gripe is no usb 3 or sata 6gps.. But I installed a pci-usb 3 card to fix that.

Other Thoughts: I'm running stable at 4.1ghz for my 6300 and don't plan on going higher because this isn't an OC MB, but you can get a bit of an OC with it.

5 out of 5 eggsBaby Board

Pros: Stable little board. Lot of people say only 8 gb ram. That is incorrect I'm running 16 gb of high speed ddr3 1866 ATI ram. My windows index is 7.3 due to cpu computation speed and 7.6 due to primary drive speed which is a solid state 3.0 sata drive. Came in an ibuypower gamer box. I'm very happy with it!

Cons: micro atx form factor. It is what it is.

Other Thoughts: Electronics are fickle. If it fails newegg is a very good company. Vendors not so much.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine

Pros: I plugged it in. It powers up, it works. Nothing else to say.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I purchased this with a Sempron processor to power a NAS I was building. I put an Areca 1261 SATA RAID controller card into the PCIe slot. The processor was sold as a single-core but apparently it had a second core - which this motherboard successfully unlocked. Plugged it in, powered it works. I'm not using the sound so I have no idea if there is a problem with it...the OS is NAS4Free (FreeBSD) and is embedded (running off USB stick), and it works fine. The array is an encrypted ZFS filesystem and the processor maxes out about the same time as the 1GB ethernet connection does, so I'm satisfied. Build quality of the board is good, no particular issues.

3 out of 5 eggsNot so lucky

Pros: Great price and initially seemed like a good buy for my client

Cons: Board failed to POST after about 2 weeks of my client using it for their video system. This costed me a fair amount in replacing the board and a few hours of travel time.

Other Thoughts: Customer was satisfied after I replaced the board with a Biostar one. This is the first failure I've had with an Asus board. I don't expect another.

4 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard but not sure on lifespan

Pros: I got this motherboard with a pc build bundle that came with an fx-6300 processor,case,psu,dvd/cd drive, 4gb adata ddr3 ram and 1tb wd blue for around $350.

It is a great motherboard for the price I use it as a gaming rig motherboard.

6 sata ports for great amount of storage.

As of this point it is a great first time builder board many features for upgradablilty.

Cons: No good aftermarket heatsink/fan I originally ordered a coolermaster heatsink and fan that I thought would fit but it didn't the screw holes for the heatsink backplate are irregular to the backplate that came with the heatsink which is adjustable it just didn't fit. Only 2x240 pin and limited to 8gb of ram(biostar has a board for $60 with 4x240pin). The gpu socket release feels really cheap and flemsy don't press down hard on it or it might break.

I am scared it is going to break down on me in less than a year due to the negitive reviews after buying it.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to check before you buy this board maybe there will be a better quality board for what you would pay for I only got this board because it came in a bundle. If you want to overclock go with something else.

-1 egg for those problems but lifespan is an issue for me.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Little Board

Pros: Inexpensive board with overclocking options and PWM fan control. Handles an FX-6300 very well. Overall a very nice buy for the money. If I am happy with the price I paid for a product after using it, that is about the best Pro I can give.

Cons: None at this price point. It does everything I need it to do.

Other Thoughts: You could pay more to get a newer style bios, more RAM slots, better board cooling, etc. but for the money this board will be a hard one to beat. Excellent build quality, very nice looks, and ASUS quality. For many years I have used ASUS motherboards exclusively in my own builds and have never once been disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Display. OutDated BIOS. Not FX ready

Pros: nothing...

Cons: BIOS is outdated. Couldn't read my FX-6300. The VGA display wouldn't work. I also used the DVI display on my GPU and it still wouldn't show any display.

If you have any FX CPUs I highly recommend not buying this motherboard, even though it stated AM3+ socket and FX support.

GPU Fans would spin and stop and spin again. CD drive Opens and closes immediately after opening.

I tested the my GPU on my friends computer and it worked properly same with the CD drive. I tested his CD drive on mine and it would open and close like I stated above and to make sure I persuade him to test out his XFX 7870 Double D Edition on this motherboard and the fans would spin and stop and spin.

Unfortunately, I couldn't persuade him to let me test out his CPU so I can update the BIOS to 1401 because he has an Intel Core Processor.

Other Thoughts: Last time I am buying from Asus. Please keep your motherboard BIOS up to date.
