4 out of 5 eggsNeeded cheapest card I could find

Pros: Works on my proxmox box. Quiet, good choice of outputs. I guess...

Cons: Definately wouldn't game with this.

Other Thoughts: I had a weird requirement. Had a mobo without a video card for a headless box. I only needed to attach a monitor for the install. It is quiet and doesn't run hot.

3 out of 5 eggsOK for office use

Pros: Drives two monitors for basic office use with no problem
Bought on sale for a great price.

Cons: none - it's biggest drawback (32-bit performance) is clearly disclosed in the item listing.

Other Thoughts: After doing a bit more research, discovered I could have gotten a much better card for just a couple of bucks more - I'm taking two stars off for buyer's remorse and overall value.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible for HTPC

Pros: None, given how its priced

Cons: 32 bit memory bus cripples the card's capabilities and buggy drivers kill it. I had the same experience with 7MC as another reviewer. Replaced with a GT430 and am loving my HTPC again.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks...let me return the card no questions. Gotta love the Egg's service :) :)

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Passive, low profile.

Cons: Needed card for 2 vga monitors. Dvi port will not display vga with dvi-vga adapter. Tried 2 different monitors, 7 different dvi to vga adapters. No dice.

3 out of 5 eggsAgree with previous reviewer

Pros: the HD 6450 reference design is supposed to be pretty good for video applications, but this card is not a reference design. As the previous reviewer meantioned it uses 512 mb of 32 bit memory. the reference design is either 512 of GDDR 5 or 1GB of 64 bit GDDR 3. (According to Anandtech, GDDR 3 actually has a lower TDP than GDDR 5, so I guess this card would have very low power consumption and generate little heat)

It's not a terrible card, but for roughly the same price, you can get a reference design using 1 GB of 64 bit GDDR 3.

Cons: The reason I'm not satisfied with this card is that when using Windows Media Center, it can't keep up with the overlay menus while an HDTV stream is displayed at the same time. I might be able to deal with HD video OK when there's nothing else going on, but, at least with the current drivers, it doesn't seem to be able to do a lot on top of that at the same time. Unfortunately for a premium HTPC experience, I think you need to be able to do that extra bit as well.

Other Thoughts: I traded this card in for an HD 6570 which now I think is the right card for an HTPC. The GDDR3 version has a pretty low TDB and still has enough oomph to do a few other things like display overlay menus while decoding UVD 3.0 HD video.

1 out of 5 eggsGimped card, do not buy!

Pros: Quiet, thats probably about it

Cons: This card has been completely gimped by Asus. I made the mistake of buying this card instead of one of the 1GB HD6450 ones assuming it would be the same just with less memory. What they fail to make clear is that by having 32 bit memory instead of 64 bit the cards performance is awful. My Aero index score from from a 4.3 with my HD5450 to a 3.0 with this card. Video quality is much worse too and the only interlacing option that works is Bob which is horrible. I would I had known this before I bought as now its too late to return this. I will never buy anything from Asus again as they should have made clear the massive performance decrease associated with this specific card.
