DirectCU II
The award-winning DirectCU II design continues to bring cooler and quieter operation to each generation of graphics cards. DirectCU II continues to combine the efficiency of direct contact copper heatpipes with the GPU, massive heatsink, and two fans to dissipate heat quickly. With different demands for power and temperature, ASUS exclusive DirectCU II now comes in a variety of flavors to bring at least 20% cooler performance while maintaining a standard in quiet operations.

DirectCU II with SSU Thermal Design
Comprising two "S" and one "U" shapes, the DirectCU II with SSU heatpipes are precisely shaped for optimal efficiency and heat transference. Now with their mid-section placed directly over the GPU, this design creates bi-directional flow and shortens heat transfer distance - doubling cooling capacity while maintaining the same size and footprint of existing graphics card cooling solution. This award-winning combination delivers 20% cooler and 2X quieter operations.

Dual Dust-Proof Fans
DirectCU II thermal assembly is further chilled by dual high-performance fans to generate direct airflow onto the large aluminum heatsink to efficiently dissipate heat. Each fan has been carefully tested and fine-tuned to minimize noise even under a full load. Each fan uses a dust-proof design to reduce dust and debris accumulation for increased reliability and improved performance.

High-conductivity copper used in heatpipe formulation creates tube-like vapor chambers, moving heat to a large aluminum heatsink that features extended fins for multiple points of dissipation. The assembly is further chilled by two high performance but carefully-tuned and sound-dampened fans for faster and quieter cooling.

Super Alloy Power
ASUS exclusive Super Alloy Power utilizes specially formulated alloy inside power delivery components to provide a more stable and quieter operation compared to reference design. The specially formulated alloy is highly-magnetic, heat-resistant and anti-corrosive. Super Alloy Power can increase lifespan 2.5 times while operating up to 35 degrees cooler. With Super Hybrid Engine to intelligently monitor and control power management, Super Alloy Power graphics cards are able to deliver up to a 15% performance boost.

Digi + VRM
The application of DIGI+VRM integrates a 10-phase digital power design with digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise level by 30% and enhance power efficiency by 15%. Digi + VRM is designed with wider voltage modulation tolerance to improve overall stability as well as increase overclocking potential.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice, but it gets hot

Pros: Very reliable card in my rig I've had no problem with it except for the fact that it gets hot. But I believe that this may be the fault of my rig overall. I run a 1000 watt power supply, 8 core processor, and I have 32 gigs of ram so I use quite a bit of juice [I recently had to buy a processor liquid cooling unit to keep games and other high demand programs from lagging] but I don't have one for my card. So when I took it apart from some routine maintenance [You know, cleaning dust and making sure all the cords aren't getting into fans (Which I remedied with zip ties from Dollar Tree) and making sure the HDD aren't getting too dusty or hot] and I felt the card and almost burned my hand on the metal pipe work but it's still working like the day I bought it. I honestly cannot think of anything really negative to say about this product. I do feel sorry for those who have had a bad experience with their card but to blame the card itself on a small fraction of faulty cards doesn't do this product justice. As far as graphics go it runs most games flawlessly. I haven't seen much in the way of artifacts on my screen and I definitely haven't had any crashes because of my card. The problem most of the people may have could be a faulty MOBO or viruses if they pirated their games but the card itself is sturdy and has preformed beyond my expectations.

Cons: Like I said in the Pros section heat is my only issue. Although it's not an issue yet the card is a bit big for my case and I recently noticed that one of my HDD's has been pushing against the card bending it some. I've rectified this with some zip ties [Thanks Dollar Tree!] but if I haven't seen it during a routine cleaning I would have never noticed since I haven't had any issues with the card.

Other Thoughts: If they could make a specific liquid cooling system for this card I would STRONGLY consider throwing more of my money at them!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card for 1080p

Pros: Awesome card for 60hz 1080p, kills almost all games that I run on it and that are optimized for PC properly.

Cons: Having some trouble running newer games like farcry 4, it keeps artifacting in game, but I don't think this is because of the card but because it's a uni soft game.

Other Thoughts: If you are buying a card right now just spring for the 970. Buying this card now would be a waste.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck, beware of factory problems

Pros: When I got the card it was brand new, no blemishes, runs great with only one exception I had. Handles most games today at ultra, remains one cool cat with no overclocking.

Cons: When I got this card, I plugged it up, and had some issues with hdmi reading, after some swears and troubleshooting I finally got it all working HOWEVER, I kept getting some fatal crashes... I tried remounting my CPU as the computer was a new build at the time, I tried redownloading drivers, after much research I discovered the problem was my the vBios on my card was faulty. I went threw and updated it and the card was fine. But any one who has had to do that knows you are literally inches away from RMA or victory. I was victorious and the card to date has been good.

Other Thoughts: In total this card may give you a problem or two but with some hard work and dedicate you will get a very rewarding payoff.

If you get an vBio's problem like I did get the Asus GPU monitor it comes with a software updater which will save you BOATLOADS of trouble.

Cheers and happy gaming!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card when it's on sale

Pros: i got it a few months ago and it runs well. Quiet and slim-design. Has the necessary power to keep up with my mid-tier system playing recent games like dark souls 2, civ:BE, and resident evil on ultra high settings. This card is part of my first build and was relatively easy to install, even for a novice like myself.

Cons: -it's from asus, a company that i dont really trust for their build quality. other reviews have mentioned DOA, and i'm not sure if this is due to user error or problems with the card itself. I personally haven't experienced this issue. I would suggest getting a warranty for this product as a precaution, to negate the most relevant complaint in these reviews.

-the price at the moment of this review is about $100 more expensive than it's worth. this card is worth about $200, which is the price i paid for it. Wait for a sale. Or if getting it now is worth the convenience fee of $100, ignore this last con.

Other Thoughts: i don't normally leave reviews, but this felt necessary after seeing the recent negative reviews. The people disappointed with this card made the mistake of trusting a risky company too much.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Card, Terrible Support

Pros: If the card doesn't freeze up on your system build it runs great.

Cons: From day 1 when I ordered and installed this card it has been nothing but problems. The main problem I have had is that the card will randomly freeze to where it freezes the image currently on screen and there's nothing you can do about it but do a hard reset on the chassis. After troubleshooting this by doing different installs of windows, testing multiple other video card (nVidia and AMD), running test bench software, consulting ASUS and nVidiatech support, sending in the card to nVidia, and etc I have found that the only logical explanation is there's a compatibility issues with my mother board, which funny enough is ASUS as well. I run the ASUS P8Z68-V LE in case anyone else is having this problem. I've lent the card to a friend and had him run it for about 3-4 weeks and he had no issues, but the support I received from ASUS was that it was a hardware problem (which is what I agreed with). I then sent the card into nVidia and they sent the card back to be 1-2 weeks later without the original box I sent in and no explanation to what they did or if it was even replaced.

Other Thoughts: I am likely going to trade this video card with my friend's video card so that I have some sort up to date video card to game on.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I do apologize that you experienced issues with your graphics card. We have not seen nor heard of any incompatabilities for our GTX770-DC2OC product line and our own motherboards. I assume that since the card is and ASUS design and not an Nvidia reference design, the card was sent back without further diagnosing. As the card works without issue in other systems, it would stand to reason that there may be another issue in regards to the instability on your system. If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141139983

3 out of 5 eggsASUS GTX 770 2GBD5 256bit

Pros: --- Powerful GPU for its price per CUDA
--- Superb cooling capabilities (Never went higher than 71C under stress benchmarking - Unigine Valley/Heaven 4+hours)
--- Great overclocking software from ASUS (Simple GUI for beginners)
--- Price drop due to 900-series release

Cons: --- Only ASUS GPU product (770's) that has a very well-known issue with random black-screen crashes
--- Only 2GB of VRAM, when most PC games in the future are going to require 2GB+
--- Quite the power eater, using almost all the amps on my 650W NEX Gold PSU. Not an energy-efficient GPU. You can get by with a 600W power supply like me.

Other Thoughts: I'm a CISCO student & I don't game as much anymore, but I thought I'd do a review on this card I have owned since March 2014.

Only reason I wouldn't recommend this card is because it does have random crashes whether you believe it or not. I have experienced a few random crashes during simple non-GPU intensive games like Guild Wars 2 & Company of Heroes, but it's not as bad as people make it to be. Although ASUS has addressed this with a patch, it will still occur every few times here and there. It's not everyday to the point where it's not unbearable and demand a refund ASAP. I own the ASUS 2GB 770 and it works fine, but I heard the 4GB 770 is pretty bad and crashes constantly under game stress. This problem on this card from ASUS GPU lineage is very strange/rare, considering I have owned ASUS GPU cards from 9800GT Ultimate, 550 Ti, 660 Ti and the GTX 770.

I recommend getting your hands on a GTX 970 as it's price per performance is ridiculous. But ultimately, it's up to you as a buyer.

The price at the moment for this card is great for someone looking to run a SLI configuration, but like I stated above, be prepared for a few game crashes due to the VRAM used by ASUS. It's not as bad as silly, rage-prone people make it to be. I still have my GTX 770 and still love it.

1 out of 5 eggsNo support

Pros: Fast when works.

Cons: Has an issue with crashing at random times and thresh hold. Tried contacting Asus through number provided by newegg and the number disconnect. Typically like Asus stuff but this seems like they outsourced to some "b" team production. Buy something different until they get the patches sorted out or make an active effort to fix this card.
