4 out of 5 eggsVery nice card

Pros: Runs very nice for the price,
The card comes in a black bag for a reason. You need to use ESD Standard when handling this board. This is the biggest reason for board failures in the field.

Cons: would be nicer with more memory, say 6Gb or even 8Gb

Other Thoughts: Make sure your grounded when touching this board, And it should run just fine for some time.

4 out of 5 eggsRuns hot

Pros: It's fast. Too hot though and overheats. If you buy this it will require a lot of research and tweaking. I recommend looking into other cooling methods or what I will mention in other thoughts.

Cons: Too hot. Requires a lot of work to run properly. I'm not rating it lower, because I was able to drop the temps. Read below.

Other Thoughts: To cool, I used Sapphire Trixx software to drop the clock to 1000MHz, mem to 1500MHz, and the voltage to 1.125. This helped a lot. I also had to bend the heatsink behind the left fan due to it being too close to the fan (it buzzed at higher speeds). I bumped my fan speed up to 70-80% and it now runs at about 42-46 C. I'm in the process of adding raspberry pi heat sinks to 10 of the VRAM chips. None of those are covered. 2 have pipes in the way. In order to do that you have to sand down the tin with a dremel or cut the metal somehow. Otherwise the VRAM heatsinks will block the GPU heatsink from touching the GPU. I'm hoping to see temps drop even more after that, but I'm not expecting to run at the 1070/1600/1.2v speeds without overheating and artifacting.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got two of these even though i've only been using one atm. Details after the brake.

Quiet, all the games run perfectly at Ultra settings and on a 1080p setup, easy to overclock, doesn't take a lot of space.

Cons: I have now gone through 3 RMAs of the Asus R9 280x DC2T in just over 2 months. This is not Newegg' fault even though the first RMA was from them and the other 2 straight from Asus. I am just leaving this here in case you're interested in this card, stay away from it for now.

4 out of 5 eggsI heart DirectCU II Top

Pros: Incredible overclocking ability,Incredible coolant systems

Cons: At 100% fan output system is extremely and expectedly noisy to the point headphones become a must have.

Other Thoughts: The DirectCU II Top is a work horse and a powerhouse. The card thus far has been an helpful supporter in CrossfireX mode with my Gigabyte 7970 ghz. But I will recommend not buying this card at all if the ASUS ROG MATRIX PLATINUM R9 280X is available for slightly better overclocking purposes alone.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: slim design, efficient gpu cooling, power led indicators. The price was right in my case as I grabbed one soon after release, which is about 100 less than it is now :-)

Cons: bios locked voltage, the only way around this is to use afterburner to force a lower voltage. I was extremely disappointed when I realized that there is no bios switch so playing around with different bios, or even updating an official one, is not an option because I don't want the risk of bricking a card that is already working.

Other Thoughts: Card has been used quite frequently for mining, and I would be hard pressed to get the hashrate to 700. I haven't taken the time to try and fine tune it as ~670khs is satisfying enough when compared to my 7950. Some say they get 700+, and maybe it's possible, but I backoff when temps get close to 70C. Forcing voltage down to around 1055mv seems to work the best for me, and I can easily run it averaging around 60C.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: I replaced a MSI 7870GHz and so far I am extremely pleased with my purchase. My card runs very cool and all games maxed out.

Cons: The price spike thanks to cryptocurrencies.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card but prices aren't.

Pros: It's a great card if you know how to set it up, get the drivers installed and know the software or games you're using it with. Took me a few hours to get it to work correctly even with something as simple as a 3rd party SL viewer. All blacks appeared pink until moving over to 64bit viewer.

Cons: I believe some have lost something somewhere. I was going to buy a few more of these but have since changed my mind since they have increased in price by $290.00. Couldn't give full 5 eggs due to the price hike.

Other Thoughts: Good card, Know what you're doing when you build and set these things up.

4 out of 5 eggsshowing artifacts when scryptmining

Pros: Pretty good card shows no artifacts while gaming.

Cons: Shows artifacts when im scrypt mining. I don't know if I have a defective card or what but this started happening after i installed catalyst 14.1 beta. It had artifacts with catalyst 13.12 too but it was not as bad.

Other Thoughts: Does anyone else have this problem? I don't know if I should RMA it with my warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsGet vBIOS update

Pros: This card makes my games look stunning. I used to think the nVidia 765 in my laptop was a great card, but this one blows that out of the water. I would love to see what two of these babies would do! I installed the overclocking software and have been monitoring temperatures. I am not going over 55C in my gaming. Also, Asus backs the card up with a 3-year warranty. Not bad, Asus, not bad.

Cons: The bad news is the card artifacts. For the first month, the card worked great, but then I ended up seeing artifacts. I checked the temps. They were cool. I ran benchmarking software to look for errors. Nope. No errors. I updated my drivers. Still artifacting at random intervals. And I mean random. I could play for a week without issue, and then play for 30 minutes and have unplayable artifacts.

After running tests on the card and determining that the card and its memory were fine, I can only conclude that the artifacts have been the by-product of poor driver support--which is what has kept me away from ATI cards.

GIven that the price has increased over $100 for the card since I purchased it, I would say that it's a lot of money for a card that may end up disappointing the customer.

Other Thoughts: Recently, Asus released a video BIOS update to correct what they called "rare artifacting events during gaming." I would encourage all other owners of this card to do this. It may be that this will correct the issue that many of us have faced.

I certainly hope so. Asus has a reputation for quality, so I hope that this BIOS update does the trick! I am awarding the product 4 stars based on the BIOS update. I will report back on my later experiences.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Powerful graphics processing with a lower noise profile than others. It's run everything I've thrown at it, and can handle BF4 on Ultra, SC2 on Ultra - it should be good for a few years yet.

Cons: It's capable of running a little warm if your case doesn't have good airflow.
