  • newegg ADVANCED TWIN FROZR IV MSI's Twin Frozr has been the industry-defining graphics card cooler. The first Twin Frozr kicked off the dual-fan trend, and today MSI stays true to its dual-fan, dual-slot design when others have to resort to less effective means. The other part that the Twin Frozr cooler uses is a large aluminum fin grid array that provides a huge amount of surface area for cooling. Heat from the GPU is transferred to the fin grid array by virtue of heat pipes with MSI's special SuperPipe technology. SuperPipes transfer heat twice as fast as regular heat pipes, enabling an MSI GAMING graphics card to stay cooler than the competition. Futhermore, MSI provides all-new Airflow Control technology on Twin Frozr. This new thermal technology leads the airflow to the heat pipe by a spacial deflector on the heatsink, so it can deflect more airflow to heat pipes directly. In addition, this exclusive design increases the area of the heatsink to provide greater dissipation efficiency.
  • newegg MILITARY CLASS COMPONENT One of the deciding factors in performance is the quality of the components used. This is why MSI only uses MIL-STD-810G certified components for its gaming cards, because only these components have proven to be able to withstand the torturous circumstances of extreme gaming and overclocking. SOLID CAP - With their aluminum core design, Solid CAPs have been a staple in high-end mainboard designs and provide a lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) as well as an over-10-year lifespan. Hi-C CAP - A Hi-C CAP is a very small, but super-efficient, capacitor. Besides ensuring enough spacing, it also allows for 93% energy efficiency. NEW SUPER FERRITE CHOKES - New Super Ferrite Chokes use a Ferrite core that is super-permeable. This allows the Super Ferrite Chokes to run at a 35°C lower temperature, have a 30% higher current capacity, a 20% improvement in power efficiency, and better overclocking power stability.
  • newegg GAMING APP A lightweight, easy to use OC tool, the Gaming App allows you to switch between OC Mode, Gaming Mode, and Silent Mode with one press of a button. Each mode has an individual pre-defined Base Clock and Boost Clock to meet different play scenarios.
  • newegg EXPERIENCE - PREDATOR A built-in screen- and video-capturing tool named Predator captures your screen as still images or videos with the push of a button. So you can capture and record your coolest, goofiest, and most awesome gaming moments on your PC!
  • newegg AFTERBURNER MSI Afterburner has quickly become the favorite overclocking software for media, overclockers, and end users. Because of its simple interface, it's easy to learn, but it packs a lot of powerful features, including an integrated benchmark utility called Kombustor that can check your system performance in benchmarking mode, or run as a stability test. Don't speak English? No problem: MSI Afterburner is translated in many languages, including Russian, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean! Not satisfied with the looks? Just change to one of the many different skins, or create one yourself with ease! Even better, you can run Afterburner straight from your smartphone! Download the MSI Afterburner App from Google Play or the Apple store, and start overclocking.

3 out of 5 eggsRebate Processing Sucks

Pros: Card works great.

Cons: Rebate processing is problematic. Make sure your invoice has the word Invoice Details on it or they will reject your rebate ($30).

5 out of 5 eggsstill waiting

Pros: when i got the card i was very pleased by the look of it ,but when i put the card in the case and tried to boot into windows all i got was a lot of trash on the screen removing and putting the proper driver in and rebooting did not help even putting it into another computer with compatible drivers had not changed what was being put on the screen so i tried to get and got an rma but my printer was broke so i could not print out the return shipping LABEL that i needed for the rma so i contacted customer support and was mailed a label which i used the same day to ship the card back to newegg ,i just hope it gets to them on time.

Cons: the only con is how long it took to get the label and that i don't know if the game ticket will return with the new card.

Other Thoughts: i have bought many different things from newegg over the years and this was my first rma i hope it goes well.

5 out of 5 eggsNot UEFI Compatible

Pros: So far from what I've actually been able to use the card the graphics are pretty awesome and that's why I gave it 5 eggs. I like knowing that when I decide to upgrade next I could add another one of these to run SLI. The free copy of Watchdogs runs on Ultra Detail and High everything else pretty well. Haven't done any bench test but there are plenty of those out there if want to know details.

Cons: The lac of information on the issue I experienced was the biggest draw back. I installed this as an upgrade to my integrated graphics on a PC I purchased spring of 2013 running Windows 8. If you are trying to install this into ANY manufactured windows 8 machines be cautious before powering it up for the first time. Because I did not turn of secure boot in my bios (a default setting) before installing the card and turning on my PC my computer only output a black screen with the card installed and would not boot. After removing the card and powering back on again I received an error message that the boot drive could not be found. After reading through some forums I concluded that the UEFI deemed this card as a threatening virus and had locked my boot drive forcing me to use another HD to do a clean install of Windows 8 to be able to recover my data off the locked drive. Long story short, to use this card and most other cards with a Windows 8 machine running UEFI you have to turn off "secure boot" and set Launch CSM to "Legacy" or you will be banging your head against a wall like I was. I know that Windows 8 is the red headed step child of operating systems, but there needs to be literature warning about this potential issue.

Other Thoughts: On a side note, I purchased this card on 7/2 and after opting for the free shipping and all the trouble I went though during installation I would definitely spend the extra couple bucks next time for faster shipping. Because I did not have this fully operational with the new card until 7/18 it put me out of the 15 days to submit for the rebate. I couldn't submit any earlier because the rebate requires the original UPC with serial number which would then null any opportunities for an RMA. If you are eligible for a rebate and plan on capitalizing on it, spend the extra couple bucks up front on the shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome not D.O.A, but finicky!

Pros: resolution is awesome, speed is awesome, OC options are awesome, 2 fans are awesome, ports are awesome, this thing just pretty much rocks!

Cons: A very big graphics card! Almost thought it was DOA until I did a trick to get it up and running.

Other Thoughts: This is a very big graphics card. make sure you plan for the space. Fortunately our motherboard did! It will take up two slots and the length is very long too. The radiator on this thing is awesome, and with the two fans I bet it will stay cool most of the time. the various ports make this great as well. Very good price and took my user experience to a max 7.9 on both graphics readings.

Most people complain about D.O.A., and quite frankly I was about to. When I booted up with the new card it would go through the bios, and starting windows 7. However, it would go black and occasionally give the spinning wheel. Windows would never fully boot. I was about to return this when I decided to try one more thing. I put the old graphics card back in, an nvidia n610gt. Then I put the GTX 660 cd in and loaded the drivers for the GTX 660. Then I powered down, took the old card out, put the new GTX 660 back in, and prayed for the best. And now we are in business!!! It worked like a charm, and this thing is mind blowing on the resolution.

Pros: the reason i bought this card was because my dad has a gtx 760 made by MSI which works very well he also had a gtx650ti

NEWEGG would see that the problem was just a bump in the
road to a great computer. every company puts out a lemon now and again so i guess i got one.

Cons: i just wish i had my dads luck with computers but it's noones fault, i know that when i am able to send this card back to newegg i will get a great card just as my dad said i would

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Very good card for the price, I was debating between a 750 ti and this card and went with this one. I'm glad I did, it has better performance than a 750 ti and has maxed out everything I have played yet (skyrim, Crysis, Battlefield, etc). Stays fairly quiet while doing background tasks such as web browsing and such, gets louder when you go into gaming mode but it never gets to loud. Overall a very good card for great gaming performance without breaking the bank.

Cons: Well this isn't really a con but its a fairly big card and it barely fit in my case so just make sure you can fit it before you buy. Other than that I have yet to find a con

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for 139.99, the same price as a EVGA SC 750 ti, so if you can get any 660 for about that price go for it, the extra bit of performance is worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsAn excellent midrange card! Not so excellent software

Pros: This card is a very good performer! One of the first things you will notice about the card is that it is nearly silent! The packaging was very nice, (not that it really matters), and no complaints about performance. Even during sessions of Half Life 2 and Skyrim to the max, it rarely (if ever) raises its fan speed.

Cons: The only cons I have about it is the card's design and software. I do prefer EVGA's nearly completely enclosed design on most of their cards opposed to MSI's. However, its not a big deal because of how my computer case is situated. Besides, as long as it performs well, that's the biggest thing that matters, isn't it? The software I don't really care for. It comes with a few pieces of software; the main overclocking and tweaking software, a benchmarking software, and a piece of software that lets you quickly choose between three core clocks for different performance and noise levels, called Gaming App. The overclocking and tweaking software I don't really care for. It's kinda confusing and not laid out well. EVGA definitely has the best. I haven't found a need to use the benchmarking software. The quick overclock app is nice, except for one problem; you can't assign hotkeys. The Gaming App also comes with a button that will ramp the fans up to near maximum for something like 40 seconds, which would be nice if there was a hotkey for it. If there is an ability to assign hotkeys, I haven't found it yet

Other Thoughts: None
