Step up to the Kepler architecture for amazing graphics performance and power efficiency with the ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 VGA card. It's based on the industry-leading 28nm technology, and provides gorgeous DirectX 11 gaming and HD visuals at an unbeatable price. Advanced Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Audio lossless multi-channel HD audio bitstreaming, deliver rich, audiophile-class audio to match the beautiful visuals. NVIDIA Surround technology, with triple-display support, provides unmatched gaming immersion and maximum productivity. Hardware accelerated Blu-ray 3D playback renders stunning stereoscopic high-definition video with compatible displays and playback software.

An array of NVIDIA innovations – such as NVIDIA Surround, NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync and the new FXAA Anti-aliasing Mode – offers more than one way to elevate your gaming experience, bringing your entertainment and work to a new level.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but also for optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation, and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world-class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant, power-efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing; at low framerates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with up to Four Monitors Simultaneously drive up to four independent 1080p displays for the ultimate multimedia or productivity workspace, and expand a single application across all three displays for an immersive viewing perspective.
  • newegg FXAA AntiAliasing Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges, but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new anti-aliasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler-based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • newegg Blu-ray 3D Support Connect your PC to any 3D enabled TV over HDMI, and enjoy a cinematic 3D experience in your home with seamless support for 1080p Blu-ray 3D discs.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Little Card

Pros: Plays Counter Strike Global Offensive with max settings and 2xAA at 1600x900 with 60 fps average on a computer with just a 2.33ghz core 2 duo.

5 out of 5 eggsNOT PCIe 3.0!!!

Pros: VERY cool temps. Very quiet. Runs movies great without stutter. GDDR5, 2Gb memory instead of 1.

Cons: NOT PCIe 3.0. Don't know why they said it was! 64bit instead of 128bit.

Other Thoughts: Replacing a Gt 430 with busted fan. My idle temps are 29c. Highest 37c (when playing live TV in Media Center. My old card used to log 74c when the fan worked.) Also .wtv and 1080p files used to stutter in MPC-HC. Not now, even with madvr. I don't game at all so this is a great card for me. I got a deal, but if you game get the Gt 650 for about the same price.

Tip: Produces better sound than my motherboard (ALC892.) I connected my HDMI to my TV, and then my RCA sound cable from my TV to my 2.1 speakers. Oddly, my sound is MUCH better. I guess it bypasses Windows extra processing of the signal and let's the speakers get the unmolested sound. (I also don't use Realtek drivers, ever.)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I needed a low-profile card for my older Dell Studio 540s to run Battlefield 4; I was happy to find that this card runs it very well: approx. 40 fps on Medium settings at 1080p, which is plenty for me. Setup was easy, as was swapping to the included low-profile bracket.

Cons: I really wanted find a 128-bit 2GB low-profile card, but this 64-bit card handles everything I need it to so that's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a low-profile card that can run current games on medium settings at a decent price, this card will definitely do the job.

5 out of 5 eggsThis card is not PCI-e 3.0

Pros: Haven't installed the card yet.

Cons: Haven't installed the card yet.

Other Thoughts: I knew it was too good to be true. A 2GB DDR5 PCI-e 3.0 card for $100? Everywhere I searched I found the same specs...until I found 2 conflicting spec pages on the Zotac website for this card.
One said PCI-e 2.0 and one said 3.0.
I contacted Zotac asking for clarification and was informed it uses PCI-e 2.0 - not 3.0 (they said they will update their website asap).
I just wanted to let everyone know that as the information on the web is misleading people to believe it's 3.0. Hopefully Newegg will read this review and consider revising the product info to state it uses PCI-e 2.0.
I will be getting the card in the mail tomorrow so I can't comment on the card's performance at the moment.

Pros: So far I am very happy with this card. I have not seen any lag in the games that I play. (COD Black Ops, L4d, TF2) It meets the needs of my limited gaming. The installation was quick and easy.

Cons: None so far.
