3 out of 5 eggshardware good, drivers poor

Pros: The hardware itself appears pretty solid and well made.

I don't personally have use for the internal ports, but I can see possible use-cases for them.
And 5 external is really good for the price

Cons: As mentioned in many other comments, the drivers are garbage

Another commenter mentioned to goto the orico.US website. a bit hard to find, but the drivers are there. They are VIA XHCI drivers with no 'product' packaging included. that is your best bet.

Dont trust the disk included!

Other Thoughts: Typical of software/drivers that come out of china. Not useful at all and pretty sketchy looking.

Use the VIA drivers from the orico site

2 out of 5 eggsDOA, Acquiring Replacement

Pros: Seems well made, and usually can't go wrong with the VIA chipset. 7 ports total, allowing for solid internal/external expansion. Only rival is a similarly card made by Sedna, using the NEC chipset instead

Cons: Installed, attached power connector. Windows 7 sees the card as unidentified in device manager. OEM install disc is corrupted, and crashed my system twice (never had a CD crash a high end workstation before). Installed drivers from OEM's website, and rebooted. System after installation no longer sees a USB card installed, and denies its existence. Recreated the situation twice. RMA'd for a second card, AND purchased the Sedna card in case the cards are simply faulty with my workstation setup.

Seems like a good card, and has all the right ingredients to be. Good soldering, strong chipset, quality build. But poor drivers, and while the Mfg says they have 24/7 tech support, they will not respond to ANY emails of any kind. Expect zero support for this card outside of Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I wish Koutech was still putting out products. At least they had amazing technical support and stood behind their products. I want to like Orico, but they are making it quite difficult to be my goto peripheral company.

Will post a second review once I get the replacement card. I hope this first card I received was simply a fluke.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I'll post report later, for now I have not used this device due to the reason I state in the CONS section.

Cons: I missed reading this in description: "4PIN IDE/ATA Power Connector allows you to easily power the card via the desktop computer's power supply".
The machine I planned on installing does not have this "older" style power cables in the computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNo tech support

Pros: Great way to add USB 3.0 speed and functionality to an older PC as well as increase the number of USB ports on your computer....

Cons: There is NO tech support for this card. I bought it to get USB 3.0 capability to connect an external backup drive. Windows 7 Pro 64bit recognized the card and although the drivers on the included CD were corrupted I was able to download the proper drivers from ORICO's site and they seemed to install fine. However, the card still doesn't function. No USB drive connected to the port(s) is seen and needless to say no 3.0 capability. Seems like there should be a fix but no luck yet....

1 out of 5 eggsComputer won't shutdown just restart

Pros: Works as long as you don't plan on shutting down computer

Cons: I installed it in a new build, works fine but when you go to shutdown computer it only restarts. Remove the computer shutdown and sleep work fine. I unchecked everything that I can think of in power management. I emailed orico and no response. Getting ready to return it if I don't hear something soon

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable Cheap Card

Pros: Cheap, looks good on paper. Internal USB 3 port was the whole reason I bought this in early 2014

Cons: USB devices work for about 15min before interrupt and the dreaded device cannot start warning in device manager. Updated the drivers and firmware after dial up download speeds from Orico support only to have the same issues.

Other Thoughts: Orico is not ready for prime-time. Stick to the trusted brand names in add-on cards like startech.

Pros: works out of box linux... fast

Cons: drive disks bad.
windows driver must be downloaded.
driver download so SLOOOOOOWWWW
driver is tiny file.
30+ Mb of driver is a windows bloat DotNet-qrap ware

Other Thoughts: regret not checking return policy....
i do not like bloat ware dotnet quraptastics

1 out of 5 eggsComplete Trash

Pros: It was small and easy to throw away. New Egg of course is great as always.

Cons: It didn't make a satifying thud when it hit the bottom of the trash can.

Other Thoughts: I've built numerous systems and only 1 other time have I had this much trouble and heartache from an expansion card of any type and in that case it had been used and I got it from a friend. I won't but anything from Orico again, ever.
