1 out of 5 eggsSlow and no support

Pros: Inexpensive. Fault tolerance works. FTP works okay.

Cons: Even in RAID 10 I can't get this to write faster than 3MB/s. It is connected to a managed gigabit switch at 1000 full and does a peak transfer speed of 24Mbit/s. The media server isn't very good. It sometimes doesn't let me delete files. There are no working support links for driver or firmware updates on the company website. I don't really care about the FTP media server and other functions. If they could just resolve the speed issues.

Other Thoughts: The slowest 3 TB HDD write speed I have seen is about 120 MB/s. In RAID 10 I should get over 200MB/s write so the network should be my bottle neck. 1Gbit/s is 125MB/s. Assuming packet loss and other issues I should be able to see speeds close to 100MB/s or better but this NAS can't write faster than 3MB/s. That is pathetic. My Internet downloads are 4x faster than LAN transfers to this device. Other devices on my network are able to reach speeds over 100MB/s.

1 out of 5 eggsIts Not Scottish !

Pros: low price.

Cons: very hard to configure. took an hour to get it to setup with a raid config. horrible manual config mechanism that is surprisingly primitive for the money spent. Terrible documentation, non-existent website support.

Once configured, continuously crashes. manual power cycle required. I have no confidence in this device. I am moving my data off before I lose it.

avoid this product at all costs.

Other Thoughts: Spend your money more wisely. spend the extra $50 for a Netgear, Synology, or Qnap (entry level models).

I picked this up from a local retailer for about $200. The price was right, and I saw this device priced much higher elsewhere. I though it might work well enough ... i was wrong.

4 out of 5 eggsFinicky At First, But Working Great Now

Pros: Device Supports features of many higher end NAS enclosures, but at half the cost. Currently have 3x3tb Seagate Barracuda Drives running in Raid 5.

Cons: As the other review states, the drives are loose, so don't put the enclosure anywhere that it may get bumped. And, as expected, the instructions for changing RAID modes weren't the clearest.

Other Thoughts: For the price, I am satisfied, we'll see if it lasts. I have yet to try connecting it directly to my computer via USB 3.0 but I would imagine it won't be as fast as many 3.0 devices out there. For streaming HD movies on 3 computers at once, it does a great job. I may even buy a second one at some point.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: does not work ad USB 3.0 speeds!
Levers/slides that hold drives in very weak as the springs that push drives out disconnect the drive.

Other Thoughts: I should have waited longer and did some research, product is unstable and not well made :(
