2 out of 5 eggsSecond switch dead

Pros: Switch is awesome when it works. Very fast.

Cons: This is the second unit that has died in 2 years. RMA request with Dlink now. Again.

Unit is kept in a cooled rack. So hasn't overheated. just up and dies.

Other Thoughts: Dlink does normally stand good to the lifetime warranty. They exchanged no problem the first time. hope it goes as smooth this time.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Low power consumption

Pros: Gets full 1000 Mbps throughput
Doesn't draw much power at all if you are only using a few ports
Rack mount ears are convenient, but can sit on a shelf etc.
Integrated power supply, no wall wart to deal with

Cons: The lights on the front are laid out a bit odd

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues after a year and a month of use

Pros: 16 port gigabit switch with jumbo frame support

Cons: none that I have detected so far

Other Thoughts: I have been using this switch for over a year and a month with no issues at all. I wired my house with CAT5e and CAT6 myself so I know that the quality of the cables and plugs are top notch. Perhaps the folks having problems with the switch are using faulty/cheap cables? Not sure, but I have had no issues with this switch at all. In fact, I plan to buy another one for my uncle to replace an 8 port netgear switch which seems to have intermittent power supply issues.

1 out of 5 eggsDies after a few months

Pros: Worked well for a while, inexpensive.

Cons: I just up and dies, this is the 2nd one I've had and both died after about 8 months. I emailed D-link and they say return it. That's poor product. Our system was completely down. We used a back up SMC switch that is about 5 years old that works great. I'm looking at SMC product this time. Don't buy this product it will die on you.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this product it will die on you. Make sure you have a back up if you do buy this product because it will die on you.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have trusted D-Link for my network needs for years. Their equipment is extremely reliable and the price is resonable. The network is stable and running with a hitch.

Cons: I really would like a switch with this many ports to have the physical connections in the rear since in my case it is not rack mounted.

Other Thoughts: Whatever issues excessed in the past regarding a noisy fan or heat are gone. It does not have a noisy fan an it is cool.
